Word Hippo

WordHippo has long been the go-to reference for me anytime I need a thesaurus. And can't think of how many times it's satisfied that itch you get when trying to find some word on the tip-of-your-tongue. App is extremely simple to use and covers the basics plus a little more. It would be nice to have an option for navigation bar w/ icons for syn, ant, def, etc. And extras like usage frequency vs year, and common connotation. Etymology would be great too.

Wonderful app, my go-to for sure. No adds (except for the bar ones at the bottom - but they're so unintrusive that most of the time I don't even notice them), short, sweet and simple. But I'd like to request the developer to a couple of features. First, a dark mode, and second, a history, and third, an offline mode - it's really useful and would help out writers like me for sure. Also, a widget would be nice?

Adore the online version, but ads in apps are a no-go for me, for sensory-processing reasons. I would love to be able to purchase / subscribe to an ad-free version of the app, though! Please do consider it! Cheers for a generally wonderful & incredibly easy-to-use (& adorably good-vibes, which matters to so many folks with similar sensory issues!) product. Well done!

It's fantastic! A great app with a great service to anyone who is looking to vary their vocabulary. One addition/alteration I'd suggest is maybe something like a "words you tend to use" section. If it could remember that we tend to use similar words, it may give us suggestions for accessing those kinds of words quicker. Love the app. Thank you!

I couldn't really grasp the full content of the app because it kept flickering with every ad that came up. So basically the whole time. It didn't load as fast as some of my other favorite apps for vocabulary words, but I'm sure the ad removal would definitely help! Sorry for the low score, but I'll change it if you can fix the bugs! (: Thank you, keep up the good work because this is such a great app!

This app is wonderful for improving vocabulary, spelling, and is my go to. I use it every day. The ads used to be ok, and consistent with the app, but now there is now a really annoying gambling ad with lots of movement and light. It's really hard to ignore and I think it's not consistent with an app that's probably used by children.

As someone who wants to become a writer, I find this app to be superb. There are lots of synonyms and antonym for several different words, as well as sentences examples, rhymes, and can help with finding words. The only downside is one must pay for the full version to save words and remove adds, but that is not a problem.

A very good app, especially if you want to help build a better vocabulary and grammar also with the help of alot of other things. 100% reccomend this, to the young or the old it's going to help you a lot no matter the level.

Leaves all other word reference tools behind. Way more synonyms and near synonyms than any other online thesaurus, without all the screen garbage, and the excessive clicking and scrolling just to find what you came for. As an aspiring novelist, I find this app indispensable.

This app seems to be the best of all the English apps I have been using. Unambiguous explanations, Satisfactory examples and many more important features which a scholar could ever need. I only urge the producer to make it offline so that the less privileged ones can experience this goodness.

WordHippo has been a life saver since a combination of aging, repeated concussions and the damaging effects of heart failure on my brain leave me floundering for words that once came easily to me!! I LOVE that it is a dictionary AND a thesaurus, round it out with the feature that it can be used OFFLINE makes this the BEST app going as far as I have found.

I love this app so much. I just wish there were some way to incorporate the app directly into whatever you are writing or texting so you don't have to stop when looking for the right word and go to the app and then back again to your writing. If there were a way to accomplish that... like Grammerly for example, Word Hippo would be a 10 star app and one I would gladly pay for.

Bad UI. Horrible UX. Even the paid version has fewer search options in Advanced Search than the free web version. No exclude letters. No common words only. Extremely disappointed. Uninstalled.

I use it almost daily when i'm texting or if I need some help manufacturing sentences so as to appear a bit more intelligent while addressing a new client. Not to mention it's a Godsend when it comes to strengthening my vocabulary or trying to avoid the over usage of certain words! I guess i'd have to say, basically...it sure do makes me alot way more smarter-er! 🤪🤓🤣

I am obsessed with this app. It has gotten me in the mood to work just because I enjoy playing around with different words and phrases so much. If you are a writer or designer that uses words in an capacity, this app is an absolute must-have! I realize that other writers and word nerds will probably understand my excitement. This app will also come in handy for people who hate writing and using words too. Probably even more than the people who do.

Wordhippo is the best for synonyms, antonyms etc. Unparalleled for sure. I used to use Wordhippo extensively online but the recent addition of (VERY annoying) commercial pop-ups (delays loading of the site and covers a large part of one's screen) made me go look for an alternative only to stumble onto the app. Why 4 stars instead of 5? I'd pay for an ad-free app, anything that distracts, diminishes my workflow, I hope it'll become available as the tiktok ad at the bottom is hugely distracting.

I don't know why people gave negative feedback concerning log in problems. I didn't need to log in at all and it's working so far so good really. The in-app purchase amount is also quite trifle (Rs.160) to remove disruptive adverts instantly. Overall a good experience. 👍

Excellent WORDLE solver! It's extremely useful for synonyms, antonyms, word usage, sentences, rhyming. Much better than all the dictionary apps I have used. I got the paid version; at just $2 it was a no brainer! Hope they add a word map too.

word hippo is the second best thing I have encountered on the internet. it's totally unique and brilliant to use. I 002 seriously recommend that everyone should indulge in broading their communication skills, and knowledge of vocabulary. this year I simply want more people to stop watching TV and music and pay attention to leaning new forms of expression.. I lorddious truly appreciate the opportunity to work on improving my skills and confidence in reshaping the future of man kind.. I now finish

I love using WordHippo on my laptop and I love that I can just talk into my phone when I use the app. The only Improvement I would wish to see is if I didn't have to clear the microphone away before pressing 'Done'. WordHippo itself is amazing though and by far the best thesaurus available for a writer, giving every possible nuance and utilization for a word - or even a phrase. Awesome!!!!

it's nice and resourceful but this app isn't for EVERYONE. this is only for rich people with internet 24/7, absolutely one of the most ridiculously unsatisfying thing i have to encounter the moment i went offline. i understand that ads help, but jesus, fam, there are millions of people in the planet and I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to update the app as an offline friendly app to be honest. i pray you chaps consider this, it helps, a win-win solution for everyone. thanks.

Word Hippo has been my go-to for years. It is so helpful for both academia and everyday use. The only thing it is missing to make it absolutely perfect is an etymology feature. I love learning about words. I love Word Hippo. It is time for my two loves to tie the knot!

Well let's just I do a lot of writing... So with my new writing hobby I am constantly learning new words and being obsessed and compulsive I constantly looking up the meanings and how to use these words. With my new Word Hippo app my vocab has thrice increased and indefinitely beyond that all I can say is "Excellent" 👍👍

~ I discovered the website version a couple months ago & found it so useful- I created a shortcut to the site on my homepage...not realizing until today there's a 'Word Hippo's app available for Android. It downloaded without incident & appears to function in the same user friendly manner as the web option. 📶 So if you want access to this valuable tool offline, anytime & anywhere w/out using up your data allowences or needing to search for Wi-Fi--THEN I HIGHLY RECOMMEND DOWNLOADING THIS APP

I use the website so much and now to search and see that they have an app. Absolutely amazing. You can easily go back and forth between words by hitting the arrows and not annoyingly sliding the screen. This app gives so many words. Such a great app 👍

It's really helpful for my poems and stories and for my other works, but I just really hope that it works offline. It's hard to think of the synonyms or antonyms and rhymes of words that the dictionary doesn't state. Anyway, it's a really great app!

Nothing compares to Word Hippo. It's a thesaurus, dictionary, translator, ect., but it's also a hell of a lot more. I've been through so many crummy apps that not only shove ads in your face at every turn, but don't even cover half of what Word Hippo does. I really can't give it enough praise, and I think it's criminally underrated.

An excellent writer's resource for synonyms, antonyms, definitions, example sentences, word translation into some 100 languages, rhyming, word forms and word search by attributes. Pretty much everything a writer could possibly need. User-friendly interface. Outstanding. Highly recommended.

After installing this App, I searched for the Latin word "es" just to check it out. It came back with, word doesn't exist. Instead, I couldn't get out of the page before I bought and paid for it. I had to turn off power and clean the Cache. Prior to this, I googled "es" and got several answers with examples. And usage. I uninstalled it. I don't need to be taken hostage by a dumb App. There's Thesaurus and Webster's for free.

As a writer of sorts, this app is an amazing database that helps me not only get out of repetitious wording, but also makes me seem really smart. It's refreshingly easy to use and helps me break away from the commonality I can fall into while trying to express ideas. Thank you Word Hippo crew!
