Word Town: Search, find & crush in crossword games

EDIT: The developers responded, and the ad situation seems much more tolerable, so I have edited my review. This is an extremely enjoyable game. I especially love the background images from around the world. Thank you! ORIGINAL: I love the game itself, and up until today it was my favorite, even with all the ads, as the ads were only 5 seconds or easy to skip after that time. Now the ads are much more intrusive, breaking up game play to the point I am close to uninstalling it. Which makes me sad.

Like everyone else, I hate the constant ads. I rated it with two stars because I thought it was rigged to force shuffling, ergo, you have to watch ads. I bumped it to four stars when I realized I was wrong. Decided to drop it back to two stars due to it being ad intensive. They sometimes rotate, but now I'm up to 30 second ads after solving each level. Plus, you HAVE to watch an ad if there are no more words, and you HAVE to restart the level, which is BS.

First off, most of the puzzles you are able to finish without reshuffling or using a hint. It is a game after all. There is strategy to it. If you can't slow down to strategize, that is not the developers' fault. I removed one star because of the ads. Like everyone else feels, they are excessive. After a puzzle is complete I hit my home button and open the app again. Bypasses the ads (I don't have cable TV because I dislike all kinds of ads). This doesn't work for reshuffling, but I am fine with that. I removed another star because I don't like the repetitive words. Music, family, egg, oil, etc. Are you trying to see how many puzzles you can put them in? The categories need to be more creative, as well do the words chosen for the categories. Some words are a far stretch and there are many other words that would have worked better. Love the Seattle pics. Please do Portland soon. :-)

I ended up having to delete this app because the adverts were getting ridiculous. At least two between each game, one before any restarts, and one for shuffling tiles. I understand that this is how the app is free, but when you're spending more time being forced to watch adverts than playing the game, something is seriously wrong. Shame really, because I was enjoying it.

Played just a few games and am uninstalling. Way too many ads. Spend more time getting rid of ads than actually playing! Really too bad, looked like a game I would have played for a long time. It's the only one that have ever immediately installed without reading reviews, it looked so good. Lesson learned. Really liked it but the amount of ads weight it down and ruin it. So disappointed. But on the upside there are way too many choices out there with more reasonable amounts of time between ads.

thought that it would be scrolling word search as was the ad. instead, stacked letters and much easier. on level 22 already and still nothing difficult. Update: Around level 30, it does start to get more challenging. The words do not just jump out at me. I do think that the ad for the app should be changed to show what the actual game is but I do find it a little addictive.

This is a fun, challenging game. The ads wear me out and become frustrating. I find it just as beneficial to shuffle as to restart because I will still be forced to endure a 30 second infomercial. Also, there seems to be a limited number of times shuffle can be used. I would think that, since you have to endure infomercials and that adds to the monetization of the app, there should be endless shuffles available. I have seen improvements in the app compared to the first few times I played, so kudos for that.

Fun little game that's actually quite challenging... but unfortunately when you get about 100 levels in, all of a sudden you are forced to shuffle the board way too many times and that either costs coins or you're forced to sit there for 30 seconds and watch a boring ad. I don't appreciate games that force you to do stuff like this, it just seems like another way to money grab and force you to spend money in order to avoid watching an ad. Sadly disappointed.

The game itself is fine, though I feel its a little more involved than is necessary considering is basically just a slightly more complex word search. My biggest complaint is the amount of ads. Yes, I know to play it free there needs to be ads. However, an ad after every 2 levels? Far, far too many. It's annoying and I'm probably going to delete it soon.

Love the game but I don't like having to watch more than one advert at a time. I will watch an ad to reshuffle, close it and then another will play. And then I will be presented with the options to watch an ad to reshuffle again and so go through the whole thing again. Not pleased when I end up watching three or four ads in a row just to reshuffle the tiles. And can you please just have ads that can be muted? If I'm playing on a public place I do so with game sounds disabled. Not much point when the ads play with loud music!

I enjoy the game, and paid the 2.99 to get rid of adds, one because I don't like them, and 2, to help support the devs. My only complaint is now I'm at a point where each puzzle I do keeps running out of words and I'm still stuck watching ads. I understand ads = revenue. But if I pay to remove ads, i shouldn't have to keep watching them or spend money on coins I don't want to keep playing.

At first it was an interesting game. The more I played it, the ads simply took away from the game play. I GET that ads have their place, but when you have two long play ads between game play, yeah, it's time to move on. Thanks. And yes, I could EASILY spend the 100 gold coin to get past the ad, but then it would cost me real world money to get more gold coin. No thank you.

You guys really need to watch the ads. Yet another one that hangs. The only way to lose the Yatzee ad is to close the app. Maybe it's time to just uninstall. I really enjoy this game except when the ads don't download to allow scrambling of the remaining letters. It's happening more and more frequently and may cause me to just uninstall it. Still like the game but too many ads have issues. For example the Medicare ads won't allow you to dismiss them and you have to close and reopen the app.

I really enjoy this game, however as of Oct 1, 2018, every time I attempt to access the daily puzzle I get a message saying I need to update the game. After going back and forth with it I finally decided to uninstall the reinstall. Took me way back. Almost 2 years, and when I connected with Facebook. Lost all my progress and still couldn't get in to the daily puzzle!

I enjoyed this game at first and actually purchased the "no ads" option. Then it started freezing up. I couldn't even close out of it without hard stopping it. The game is challenging but I like that. What I don't like is when I have thousands of coins and I'd like to use one of the help options, nothing happens and I end up with another frozen screen. It's unfortunate because I could have seen myself playing this word game for a very long time. If they ever find a fix for the technical issues I'd consider playing it again and change my review.

This game is misrepresented in the ads for it. It entices you with a fun scenario where you pick out words in the puzzle to help the characters survive. NOT TRUE!!! All you do is pick out words. No cute characters to save, no special scenes. It's just another word game. What attracted me to it was getting to choose the right words to save the cute characters. I didn't want another same old word game. You misrepresented and lied to get people to play it. Well this person is Uninstalling it!!!

I genuinely enjoyed this game originally. I liked the concept and I had fun trying to find extra words as I cleared the board. But what was a fun game became nothing more than annoying for me because of the amount of ads (between every puzzle, which doesn't take long to solve, so it feels like I spend more time watching those ads than playing). And because I like to play these games while relaxing with headphones, constantly having my music stopped and an obnoxious ad blasting in my ears? Nah.

Way too many ads. You shouldn't be forced to watch 30second ads every other new board in order to just play the game! The game requires the clue to play properly, but having to watch a video ad to get the clue is beyond annoying. Game itself seems as if it would be fun, but the ads are ridiculous!! Games should be fun & calming, not so annoying that they're stressing me out to play.

Graphics are good, challenging puzzles. But 30 seconds of play then 30 seconds of ads doesnt work for me. Far too intrusive vs other games with similar offerings. Returning to home screen to activate play on next unlocked level was annoying. I could have lost myself in the game because the music, graphics and puzzles were very good but the frequency of ads were so disruptive (I dont mind ads in free games that's how I find cool new stuff!) but the ratio was way off! Uninstalling.

wonderful fun game!! 2 problems. 1st is a BIG problem for me and I know many others; the flashing lights sometimes at the bottom of the screen is painful. please fix ASAP. 2nd after every level there is an ad that pauses my music. I do not like that! I would rather it play with my music preferably with the option of muting the ad. .. otherwise I would rate 5 star

The game itself is fun! But the ads eventually just got too annoying. The banner ad at the bottom of the screen partially covers the buttons there, and the ads between levels are often long. They also get stalled sometimes, making the wait for gameplay even longer. The last straw for me was when the ads between levels started getting delayed, letting me begin playing the next level but then suddenly wrenching control away to play the ad video. Beyond frustrating!

Your ads cause the game to hang... the screen goes black and the game becomes unresponsive. I have to keep exiting the game whenever an ad appears and does that and restart it. It's a pain. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game three times now because of this issue, so it's not my tablet... it's the code in the game. This will be the last time I'm reinstalling this game though... if it happens again I'm uninstalling it for good. Not worth the hassle when there are many other games out there.

easy to play, plus you can get extra points for finding "bonus" words that aren't in the list. there are ads in between most levels, but they don't interfere with playing the game itself. no timer makes it casual to play. my only issue is that it's not a full screen, making it difficult for me to see without my reading glasses on.

It was great when I first started playing. Very addictive. Now they have increased their ads which are way more than needed. It seems every 15 sec an ad pops up. Im getting ready to delete app because of it. You will be in the middle of teying to make a play with your thought process in mind and then it flips to an ad. Very aggravating.

Way too many ads, not worth playing. You spend more time watching ads then you do playing the game which is too bad because the game itself is fun. I see replies from the developer stating that they need the ads to pay for their work as it is a free app. But again, there are way too many ads for me to even want to play it anymore. The levels take less time to complete then the ads you have to watch to move on in the game. Cut the ads down to 5 seconds or cut the amount of ads in half and I'll start playing again.

I was hoping the reviews were just full of whiners that couldn't handle a few ads. Not so. I made it through 8 levels before the slow gameplay combined with the ridiculous categories and the fact that I was spending more time ignoring ads than playing the game got to be too much. One of the categories was things that grow fast and the words were baby, bamboo, weed, nail, & bud. Honestly, the ads are longer than the levels! Ad revenue is one thing, but the game has to be worth your time first.

Game is alright, but too many long ads (30sec) ads one after another! Startup even has a long ad... so often I go to play and shut it down before I even get to the game. Could be an addicting game but they interfere with game play too often, not even just between levels but during the play as well. Not good enough of a game to buy, but how would I know, you can"t even try it out for longer than a minute before an ad... deleting!
