Unfortunately, it is the only way to read/study Lifeway books (Other than the Lifeway Reader, which is just as bad, if not worse). It has the ability to take notes (an essential attribute to a book study app). At least 3/4 of the time that I long press a word or phrase to do a note, I get a message back saying it was unable to do an annotation. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to when it is able to do an annotation. If you never want to take a note, it would be an ok reader app
This app is in desperate need for an update. The app doesn't do a good job of saving progress. The interface is slow. Gestures used in similar reader applications do not function here, which makes using the interface even more cumbersome. For instance, your reader app is the only I've used in which the "page turn" gestures are reversed. I purposely placed quotations on "page turn", because there are no actual pages, the gestures move between chapters. This format impacts readability greatly, as the books are laid out like great walls of text rather than books. If you are going to lock my large library of books so that only your application can open them, I urge you consider re-designing this application to be more user-friendly
I have this on PC and is a great program. The app on android is extremely difficult when searching within a book. No way to decrease the font to make out menus, takes a long time to find a particular text in the commentaries. Not really worth the time and work. Hoping there will be improvements at some point.
This app is not as great as the online version where I have access to not only my books but I have the Strongs Concordance tools and the parallel tool. I love comparing texts online. I found the website years ago when I started to study and the fact that it was free blew my mind. I expected the mobile app to be a little similar but was disappointed by that.
The way the app is set up is to change chapters on a swipe. It is much too sensitive, however, so that a scroll down is often mistaken for a swipe and changes the chapter. I could live with this, except that changing chapters resets everything so that I cannot return to where I was, but have to scroll all the way back (and risk another chapter change). This makes studying very difficult on school mandated ebooks. Also, wordsearch would be nice in an app called WORDsearch.
I use the desktop version and have an extensive library. The android version is barely usable in comparison. The app cannot be moved to external storage and has NO options to download books to external storage either. My library quickly overwhelmed the limited memory on my phone. Font settings worked in Bibles, but not other books. There is only one window. The app might suffice for a basic reader, but is not very effective as a study or lesson prep tool on Android.
The app has a lot of struggles. You have to completely close books to access another resource. Now two window panels when your Bible is open. Also when you highlight a passage all the cross-reference links cease to work. This program needs a lot more work in order to be actually usable on a mobile platform.
Have used the windows version for many years, but the Android app doesn't even begin to offer some of the functionality it should have and other apps have. If it wasn't for the thousands of dollars I have invested in my library over the years, I would have switched to one of their main competitors, as their app is a lot more functional and serious. This app has been reduced to the minimum: not much more than just another book reader, and with bugs.
First, let me say that I absolutely love and regularly use WordSearch 12 desktop and highly recommend it. This app is only good as a book reader. The highlight and copy text function rarely works the first or even second attempt. The most dissapointing feature is you can't do a word search within a book. They should rename the app from WORDsearch (cause you can't) to WORDreader.
I am very disappointed in the Android app. I can't adjust font size on any books. Also when I close the app I naver can just reopen to the book page I was last on. It's always like I have opened the app for the first time. I can't even jump around from chapter to chapter in books. Poorly conceived app.
The app is not user friendly (and set up things electronically all the time). Difficult to find the areas I need to go. I can't download the app on my Kindle to read books from it. I can't access a book for one of my seminary classes on my laptop - even after contacting Support. They said it's not accessible on laptops - where I'm writing my paper!!! The guy at Support just acted like it was my problem. No sympathy, no hope for future students. The app downloaded to only my Galaxy phone. If I didn't have that, I guess I would just be stuck. Setting up the app, purchasing the first book and accessing is TERRIBLE. I'm totally turned off by this. One of the worst experiences I've ever had. I'll be leaving after my class is over - and I paid $19.99 to borrow a book I don't even get to keep.
Using the commetary part of this app is time consuming and frustrating to say the least. The bookmarks don't work neither does the highlighting. It doesn't always open up to the last page you were studying. Sort of makes this app useless for me. They need to do an upgrade to fix these problems.
I use this for my college classes with Liberty. Its good, because it lets me take my online textbooks with me, however, it would be greatly appreciated if there could be an option see all books BUT archived ones, so I'm not having to scroll through Every Single Book I've gotten for school, and could find my current textbooks immediately. Yes theres other options to only see certain themes, but that rarely gives me every book I need for one class, and certainly doesn't now. Thanks!
I hope they will invest in improving the app. It's completely useless to use for open book/open notes-TIMED tests. I cannot access my books or notes half the time. The app swirls and swirls and when it does load, it loads access to every title in my library on mobile (but not on my desktop. They simply will not make my schoolbooks available on my desktop app, even though I pay for both. None of my other apps have a problem between rentals and permanent books? Uses 600mb. Cannot store toSD card.
if you use the computer based version, of Wordsearch, this mobile app is a nice addition so that you can access your library. However, you have to keep in mind that this mobile app is extremely limited in comparison and you have to manage your expectations. There is much better mobile based bible software out there depending on what your needs are.
Exciting update! Wordsearch has been bought out by Faith life - publisher of Logos Bible software - you can transfer your library to Logos. (they are still working on converting the file formats). They have a very good (I would give it 4 stars) Android app for tablets / phones. Finally a good mobile app for my Wordsearch library! The Wordsearch mobile software is barely usable as a Bible reader, much less for study
Light weight, but functionwise it's too simplistic for a paid app. I have over almost a thousand books in the desktop software version, but not all of them are accessible via this app. Life Application Study Bible index is faulty - no way to access many books of the Bible unless you slide page by page.
Downloaded android app and no problem accessing my Wordsearch library, once I logged on including my just-downloaded book. Would like to see a search feature, though, as could be nice to locate a specific verse or phrase. My sessions cannot always start with Matt 1:1 ! Will keep looking for search feature for books or scripture.
I have used Wordsearch desktop app for years with great results investing money to build my study library. I have also hoped that this app would be updated to keep up with almost every free and purchased bible app out there. There is no flow, no options, and visuals are basic. Every part of this app seems to work on its own with only one real function, just to read a single document. LifeWay should make an investment like Logos and Laridian. Sorry LifeWay. Still hopeful.
I have had similar experiences as everyone else it seems like. I have invested lots of money into the PC program and I love it. But the Phone app doesn't live up to it at all. It needs a major overhaul. I will continue to use my PC program but i rarely use the phone app.
I've been using Wordsearch on my computers for a long time, and I was looking forward to being able to access the Greek-English Interlinear on my phone. It is awful. You get one word at a time, and there are no settings to change it.
"unable to create annotation" when trying to highlight is KILLING this app. Trying to use for school work is really not intuitive, sometimes having to highlight sentences five or 6 times before it actually highlights. Fix this and I will update my rating.
I can't highlight, copy or make notes in any books with Android 8, 9, and 10 on the different devices. Lifeway isn't committed to regular upgrades to keep up with newer versions of Android.
Not easy to navigate. Highlighting doesn't always work. Using the links to additional Bible verses good, but the text that comes up is difficult to read, ie not spaced correctly and footnotes poorly aligned.
Doesn't matter what Android device I use, when I try to scroll down the chapter, 20% of the time it jumps back or forward a whole chapter, losing my place in the process. Such a waste of precious study time.
I can't believe a big company like this doesn't allow the user to sync their notes in Wordsearch between Windows and Android versions. They need this feature asap as without it, it's pointless for me to use their products. Also, not all commentaries can be used on Android version like the Windows version.
I have a large WSB library and was hoping to study on my phone but this app needs a lot of work (i.e. it opens to the products page where I have to re-select the bible I want every time instead of taking me to where I left off, and although I select the NASB with Strong's numbers, the numbers won't appear in the reader). I've looked at other apps and Olive Tree works best, put I don't want to pay to build another library when I've already invested so much in Wordsearch. Please improve it.
An absolutely terrible app, deeply disappointing. I'm a long-time WordSearch user and had high hopes, but this app is almost worthless. Can't save any views so have to search through my huge library every time I want to open anything, even to change from one translation to another. Menus are difficult to access, even to change verses. Highlighting works about half of the time, though one improvement over other Bible apps is the ability to highlight part of a verse. If there is a way to look up words in Strong's - which is after all, the purpose of a concordance - I can't find it. And the double login requirement (which may be why some other users can't access the their libraries) is ridiculous. I had to contact support to figure out how. Lifeway, we pay a lot of money for our software and libraries, and a minimally functioning app shouldn't be too much to ask. Charge $4.99 for it as an add-on if you must but please fix it!
