WRAL News App

This app just doesn't get any better does it. Now, we have a tornado warning in our area, I have plenty of LTE service, but I can't get the video to load more than 30 seconds before it craps out. Sure I'm glad there's no emergency right now..... You know, other than a tornado warning.

Propaganda still seems rampant now a days but this app is better than abc news for sure

I like WRAL, but the app is not great. Articles on the main page are not updated frequently enough. The same articles stay there for several days. Many stories have no text and force you to watch a video, which I hate. Most of the time when I read an article & go back to the main page, the page reloads and puts me back at the top of the page so I have to scroll all the way back down to find my place. A lot of the stories could really benefit from pictures, like animal stories & strange events.

New version is too time-consuming to use often. The old version let you scroll quickly down a list of news items with small photos off to the side but now every news item has a much larger photo and longer description to scroll through just to see all the stories. I actually read far fewer stories because I just give up. Now if it's not one of the first four or five, I won't read it here.

It is improving. Just these issues for me. A lot of ad links scattered at bottom of news stories are mostly spam, click bait; the ones that bother me the most appear to be medical/health related. Prefer articles with text and option to watch video because I do not want to wait for ads to play when I am checking news. Would like more breaking news at top whether it be traffic, escaped inmates, weather at top.

the app works well, I like the layout. The problem I'm having is that is that I can't find a way to allow screen notifications without sound. notifications are either on or off, with no separate selection for sound. of course that could be something I'm just missing.

WRAL tends to post the same story multiple times with different headlines for each posting, the app is infested with clickbait, pop up ads and bugs and on the rare occasion that the in app feedback system is working, the app developers blatantly don't care if the app works or not. I have depended on WRAL for 30 years for the local news, but if they don't get their acts together and do better than they are currently doing and soon, I'm done with this terrible application.

Very good but it is sometimes hard to find the latest news broadcast. There should be a separate link for news broadcast and the possibility to see different broadcasts. Live event broadcast and video cam should not supersede newscast. Video cam should have its own link. The app should allow video to be minimized or sound only. There doesn't seem to be a place to ask a question, request coverage or comment. It's better than nothing but I find myself using the app less and less.

While I like the delivery of the new app, along with the headline scanning, I'm very disappointed that it insists on only a vertical layout. I read this, along with other news media on my tablet in landscape mode. The old Wral app worked in landscape, why can't the new one? make it support landscape and the stars would fly! thanks

Slow to load stories and almost hslf the time the app freezes. Video freezes. Having to watch an ad BEFORE live newscast is extremely irritating. This used to be a great app, but now it's sluggish and wastes my time. Problem is not the phone. WRAL is supposed to be a tech leader. Not here.

I have been using the app for a while, but I have just uninstalled it. The content is still good, but the experience is not. I prefer a minimalist interface, and this is getting increasingly cluttered. I guess this is fine for whatever focus group they are targeting, just not me.

The weather forecast model is always the best for this area but the app is so clunky and slow. I understand they need advertising but all the ads really bog down the whole experience. The phone app is a tiny bit better than the website.

We haven't been able to get the website to open for the last 2 weeks. There is a security error. This is the first time it has opened. UPDATE: 6-2-21 uninstalled and reinstalled app...still will not open. I can go to the website and view content but app is still broken.

I receive regular updates of news, which is good. Its very hard to navigate past older news to see the latest articles. When I click on the notification icon, I'd expect that would take me to the latest or news that generated the notice.

When I look at the news the camera is always good. And you explain everything and keep us updated on weather news exc. Until everything is back to normal. And also you let use no to stay home or when it's OK to go to work during bad weather. Thank you.

Best news app I have ever used. It always seems WRAL tries to find more positive news then the doom and gloom from other news organizations while still presenting a well rounded news. This app is easy to use with an excellent weather information interface. I would recommend this easy to use app to anyone.

It's an ok news app, but far from great. Far too many videos, probably by design to get us to watch ads. Viewing and commenting on articles is very clunky, requiring us to load a browser that slowly loads the clickbait ads before any comments. More balanced reporting would be appreciated, as just seeing/promoting the opinions of CBC smacks of bias. Please give opposing opinion pieces and let the reader make up their own mind.

Too annoying to use. Not able to turn off auto info coming in unwanted all the time. Locks up with reply boxes when trying to use.. no way to make them go away without answering. This is second time trying to use. App is being uninstalled

I just love when there's an interesting headline on my homescreen, and l open the app and there's NOTHING about it inside. I also love it when it takes 30 minutes to read the 30 seconds of content because of all the garbage between the 1st line and the last line

Really like WRAL, but sometimes the notifications are a bit overwhelming. During the scourge of Hurricane Micheal, got 14 notifications in ten minutes. Must be SOME record broke there. Or maybe it was more like a broken record.

Notification link does not open in the app. I tap on a link in my notifications list and I expect the WRAL to open the article. It does nothing. Just a screen with WRAL on it. Absolutely nothing happens

Click on a notification and then it doesn't take you to the correct article. Great headline catching notification. Can't find article. Bait and switch, at its best.

The app itself is good but the constant notifications are annoying. i have them turned off in the settings but the darn things go off anyway. i may delete it because it wakes me up.

Unfortunately best local news source. Very biased opinions. Usually a day late info. Many useless stories and lack of pertinent stories. Also, can not read any story without finding misspellings and poor grammer.
