This app makes my poop smell funny. Also, it does a decent job of telling you the weather. Excellent for the most part, it does have issues with scrolling the way you want in some spots, namely the hour-by-hour forecast on the front page, and in the hurricane tracker (it was a headache trying to use the tracker without scrolling the whole page up or down [mostly down]). Otherwise, I'd recommend it, regardless of how it makes your poo smell. :3
Its a decent example of a low feature weather app. No real complaints. What advertising it does have is unobtrusive which puts it miles ahead of apps like weather bug, or weather underground. Both of which flood your screen with ads, to the determent of actually getting the weather info you installed the apps for in the first place. On the whole its a solid four, but I'll give it a five because its never popped up one of those unstoppable video ads.
My only real grouse is that whenever the app has been open for more than a few minutes but reduced to the background, it won't operate upon reactivating, has to be closed, and then relaunched completely. A minor inconvenience, but definitely an inconvenience. Other than that I like it fine.
Great weather app, though often I have to open it twice because the first time it crashes. It's been doing this for years. And I'm not the only one with this problem. Check out other reviews. When it works, it's very nice, but for such important information as weather can be, I don't use it as my primary weather source as a result of its instability & unreliability. Update: since this has been an issue for several years now & has not been addressed by the app developers, I uninstalled.
Love this app! Very user friendly and not too bad with ads. Really good graphics and radar. During this last thunderstorm I was watching the radar on this app, and it was so up to speed. The last radar app that I had, had way too much delay. This one is fast and detailed. I would highly recommend it to weather enthusiasts, like myself.
I,m glad l,m not alone in my problems with the weather app! It has, on and off, not been loading or freezing on it,s home page. I like it but ended up uninstalling it. thankfully I can get the weather on the main weather and news app. It's now February 13 and so far am enjoying the weather only app but had earlier problems with the news app right after it was updated recently. I just now reinstalled it and hope it works better!
Freezes up my phone quite a bit after I swipe.up to check an alert it posts. Can't move the loction pin to where I live. For example my town puts the pin in "downtown"... I'm 20 min away. Entirely different weather between us. I don't like having to have my loction GPS on at all times to get an update on the weather where I am, I'd rather move the pin myself.(like on the origial Storm app) and get accurate updates that way.
The app itself is decent and does a good job of keeping you updated.... But during a severe weather incident why do you force us to watch an ad before getting weather updates! When seconds can count and this is the only way to get weather updates you shouldn't have to watch an ad to find out where the tornado or hurricane is hitting!
Used to be good! Now i have to force stop the app to get it to work. Have unistalled and reinstalled. Still the same problem of not loading....WRAL has always been my go-to app...but i may change if things arent fixed! I will only keep for local weather alerts...but those are coming late! When you get a weather alert 10-15 mins after the storm...too late.
This version, while more beautiful, seems a bit clunkier to use than the old one. 7 day used to be a quick glance at the coming week, but now it's all text?? However, I do use the iControl radar a lot, and it is fabulous!!! So useful when planning outdoor activities.
After latest update, it is full of bugs, at least via android. Often won't load at all. If you share forecast via their 'share' link then, instead of opening weather app, it opens the gmail or messages app depending on how you sent it. The only way to get back to wral app is to restart your phone to clear the bugs.
Not happy since update on 09/25/19. The temperature is constantly up on my screen now, and I can see no way of shutting that off. I want to keep receiving the weather alerts, but I do not want a constant temperature appearing on my phone screen. I have been to the alert section, and I can find where they can be toggled, but nothing as far as removing the temperature. Guess I will see if there is any way to undo this update, otherwise I will need to uninstall.
update: thank you for your quick response, and I look forward to participating in the beta. Doesn't open. I uninstalled and reinstalled, but same. No default settings for opening pages are set, and nothing on that part of the menu responds. So disappointed!
Great app, but my phone updated today and now it won't work - I get the spash screen, then a blank screen, then eventually the "app keeps stopping" error message with app info/close app/send feedback as the choices. Can someone look into what needs to be done to make it compatible with the update? Thanks. Now to locate an alternate source of weather info so I can figure out what to wear tomorrow!
We love the App. It keeps us aware and informed of impending weather. It's a potential life saver. We've lived thru some tornadoes in the midwest and the alerts (at that time) were simply big horns that blasted throughout the town. Thank goodness for improved technology. Cheers.
This newest app is the poorest. I've downloaded it at least 5 times in the space of 6 weeks on my new phone. Freezes, stuck on white pages, slow, won't open. The older app that has the 3 girls in the picture with Elizabeth and Mike on my tablet is far better. No other app on my phone has problems like that.
I turned off the Lightning Detected alert...only to hear the WRAL sound during church. I played with the settings and even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, but I couldn't turn off the alert. There are plenty of weather apps whose alert customization works, so I will use one of those.
Update - 1/20/2022: while still not pleased the promised up grades have not come, I sttcome back to this as the best we have. Slow and missing predicted rainfall, it beats everything else. 4.5 2/11/2021: I simply want to double down on the requests below. Very good weather app that provides most of what I want to see. Missing are predicted rainfall (most important!) and a longer range forecast. Cover two weeks though not necessarily day-by-day. Also should have sunrise/sunset times.
Accurate and reliable. I greatly appreciate the layout of the quick glance it provides with current temperature (and how it feels), high/low, and weather forecast. The hourly and weekly forecasts are easy to read, and the iControl radar is useful for observing cloudiness and rain.
Great app... But. About 50 % of the time on opening it goes to a blank screen and have to restart. I have cleared cache and data multiple times and reinstalled with no benefit. It has been going on for several months. Galaxy Note 10+.
Good information presented when it will run. User interface is generally easy to use. However, about half the time, it will not run on my Android tablet. It hangs when starting, and I have to kill it. Usually runs when restarted.
Used to love the app. The radar is great and the inclusivity of many weather widgets like updates from the crew or stories involving the storms are great. BUT, and it's a big but, my app has failed to retrieve the hourly forecast 90% of the time. That's really what I need to know. When will it rain today? No clue because it doesn't say. I've tried on perfect wifi and on 5G data. Neither fix this bug. If it gets fixed I will reevaluate my rating because everything else would make it 5 stars.
