I love this app I do and I also love what you people wanted to do with it. Clearly its got everything a writer dreams of and is very reminiscent of wattpad. But it has a long, long way to go. It has a lot of bugs and I have problems with saving my stories. I always end up losing paragraphs on end. And it annoys me. I know that PC version is still beta but it's the worst synching ever. I learned that the hard way. Please fix it cause the app has got potential and its better than any other on here
The app has potential. And it's great to have everything so neatly organised in one place. But there are some bugs that need sorting. I'd like to see if the pro version is any better, but £4.99 a month seems steep for only a few extras, the most desirable being the online feature- which doesn't seem to work as the site just displays an error message. I'd like to see what becomes of the app if developed some more though, as it could be an excellent writing tool if the features were improved.
This app is excellent in theory, it has all the features you would want. But at the moment its quite buggy and you are likely to lose work. The free version is quite limited and the pro version is insanely expensive for what it what it is. The online sync is a great idea, but doesnt work well at the moment either. If the pro version were a reasonable price i would go for it, but I'm just not paying a subscription for £50 a year to use a simple app like this, its nowhere near worth that much.
Very good for keeping those background notes and ideas in a safe place you can access conveniently, reordering storyline events, and generally getting started fleshing out a story. The bad news is that I've been stuck without a computer to do my creative writing for about a year, and have been using this app via my phone. Now I have my computer back, I'm very disappointed to find that I can't use this App on my laptop.
I wrote for 3 hours tonight and saved periodically as I went, as I have since installing this otherwise immaculate app. I switched to Spotify to turn on a song, and when I went back to the app- it had deleted more than half of what I'd written and reverted back to a much earlier save with only 827 words. Any writer knows what a devastating feeling this is. In spite of the other features and the excellent interface, even Google Drive guarantees against a loss like this on a project.
This is easily the best tool I've found for writing. it has all the layout and structure you could want for any work of literature you're developing. I would use Evernote but unfortunately it doesn't natively support the structure or prompts I need, and I don't want to waste time developing the wheel all over again. The beta desktop writing feature just seals the deal for me. I haven't used it yet but if it works as advertised, being able to write on my phone or pc is a must! Use this app.
It is an amazing app. I really enjoy the free version. It has all details sections that I need, especially the timeline. It really helps me to focus back on the plot everytime I'm starting to stray away. The only thing that does not meet my expectation is the monthly/yearly subscription if you want to create more than one title. It's not like I write every day so I think it is a bit pricey for me. I would love to buy a bit pricey full version rather than subscribing monthly/yearly.
Probably the best app I've found for novel planning. No other apps I've found are as in-depth as this one, nor do they encourage as much creativity. I would prefer if certain features were made available in the free version, or if Pro was a one-time payment rather than a monthly or yearly subscription, but aside from those small complaints, I have no problems with this app. I won't use anything else.
This is the best app for helping writers. I've tried many apps that failed my expectations, but this one is absolutely perfect. It fulfills the description and does even more. The details it makes you input really push you forward. All the flaws other people wrote about are caused by their ignorance. This is much better than writing notes on paper, because this app helps you fill in details. I recommend to add the function of filtering by tags and the ability to create multiple timelines.
Brilliant and handy app. It's my go-to for my project. I do have a bit of a problem with the timeline feature, though. When I edit an event and go back, it takes me right to the top of my timeline, but I'd prefer if it would stay where you are when you enter the event. I have a pretty huge timeline, and its frustrating having to scroll the whole thing every time I create a new event.
Love the app! I don't think someone could write their entire book in the app - they might need to use some other software to get the bulk of the writing done - but the app is a great organizational tool to manage your book and get an overview of your work. It really helps my scattered brain sort things out. However, I only wish that you could be working on more than one book at a time. (As I'm not writing the book in the app, just using it to organize, and I have several short stories).
I only have one problem. When I go to use bold or italic words I can't tell if I have hit the button until I type. I think if it could change color to Indicate that you have selected an option on that it would be great . Other than that I appreciate this app a whole lot make keeping my ideas straight so much easier than a bunch of papers all over my table. Thank yo uh 0
It's a fantastic idea, and well thought out-I love the amount of detail in the characters section. I do wish there was the ability to add a photo from your gallery. Right now you can only take a picture, which isn't much use. I tried to give feedback to the developers on this, but the provided email didn't work (error 550). I also wish there was a week trial before you have to purchase a subscription. 3 days isn't much time.
I never rate apps, but this one was too helpful to not. I have been attempting to write one story for years--yes, years--and this app had helped me to write leaps and bounds farther than I did without it. It helps to lay out everything you never thought you needed to think of, keeping all the random thoughts of details you think of organized, and the best part is that it's everywhere I go. A+, 10/10, would recommend. Will be using forever, I swear.
It's a nice app with plenty of resources! Would love if it had the possibility to have more than one project though. I'm working on a book trilogy and need to have the three of them accessible. It's a shame the pro version requires monthly payment, which I find a bit pricey. Would have bought if it was possible to get with a single purchase.
I have not found a way to get the novel to download. AKA: Export does not work. If you click on it in the webbrowser version, it downloads a test.docx. This looks good initially, but if you put text in the scene/chapter and try to download it again, you still get a blank test document. While it is supposed to sync with Google Docs, going into your drive may not work either. I could find the file in my Google Drive, so that little backdoor trick may not work. If you try the same thing in your Android device, you'l get the message to UPGRADE. AKA: PAY PAY PAY to get access to your novel, and since the web version of export doesn't work, I wouldn't recommend plunking down your hard-earned money for this. To date, the only way to get your novel off Writer Tools would be to C/P every single scene into a document on your computer. Depending on how much you've written in Writer Tools, you could be looking at hours to get your text out of the program.
Not an overly intuitive program. Locating way to insert photos results in failure despite being a feature of the program. Developers are MIA. Sent email 6-10-21 only to be returned by Yahoo stating that the email is undeliverable. So while the app is useful, if you run into any issues, it is unlikely you will receive any support.
This is a pretty solid writing app. You do have to go pro for dark mode, which is why it's 4 stars. I suggest that the devs allow you to make multiple timelines, this would allow the user to make timelines for individual characters, rather than have it all in one big timeline.
This really is a great app! I love it and highly recommend it if you are trying to write a novel or outline some world-building!!! My only critique is about the backups. I personally would like to see the app update projects across devices that are connected to the same account by itself, but I understand how backups as implemented are cost effective. However lately, after backing up and trying to download a backup on another device, the app seems to freeze and never finish downloading the new backup. The only solution I've found is to uninstall and reinstall (it downloads the backup in no time). Would like to see a fix. But that aside, this is a very robust and helpful application for whatever you may be writing!!!
