WSPR World Watch v3

This app answers the two basic questions facing radio amateurs:
- Which band shall I use right now? Where shall I point my beam right now ?It will also interest anyone who wants to study radio propagation and the ionosphere. This app plots radio transmission paths observed in real-time on a world map which can be centered either on the Atlantic or the Pacific. It also plots the greyline and displays current Space Weather indexes and may optionally plot Aurora ovals. It can be configured to make voice alerts for band openingsPerformance of individual stations may be monitored. This FREE app is memory hungry and may not work on your device. PLEASE do not downgrade if it crashes because this does not help the 99 percent of users whose devices do support it. Instead look at what other memory hungry apps you have and decide to remove them.To understand this app you need to read the FAQ which is launched from the menu. The FAQ item is near the bottom of the Menu list. The data is provided by the WSPR (Weak Signal Propagation Reporter pronounced 'whisper') system which is designed for probing radio propagation paths using low-power beacon-like transmissions from Radio Amateurs. WSPR signals convey only a callsign, grid locator and sending power level. Receiving stations with internet access automatically upload reception reports to the central WSPR database.

When the software works, it is quite useful to the radio amateur. But upon startup, you get a cryptic "socket exception" error, a message presumably to show how smart the developer is (and how clueless the rest of us are). Worse than that is the repetitive crashing of the software which renders it practically useless. A careful and competent programmer would be able to write stable, crash-free code.

This app is useful for finding WSPR spots. It is well designed and easy to use, but unfortunately I can't zoom into the map. A zoom function would be extremely useful. M0BOB.

Great app, does what it says it does. I was able to change bands with no issues. I would like pinch to zoom but that is pretty minor.

Interesting app. But has following issues on my phone: - throws socket exception during startup when connecting to utc server - crashes when i'm trying to switch band

It's got potential, but looks to have been abandoned by the developer. Needs a good overhaul and bugs sorting out

Rubbish software. Crashes when Band is changed or any other menu change is attempted.

Sadly as soon as I try to filter by my callsign, it just crashes. Using Android 10 on Huawei P30 phone.

If you're running the wspr beacon, it should be your app number one. Thanks. de UR3WA

Can you zoom the map.

Though I do not have amateur radio equipment, due to cost, I find signal propagation extremely interesting. Sun spot number, Solar flux, Solar flares, Solar storms, Aurora activity, and more, are there. Add actual weak signal, high frequency radio stations and their operating conditions, and this is a beautifully concise application for anybody interested in HF signal propagation. Should I ever stumble across a very affordable, free, or repairable, HF transceiver, I will get my license.

Given the density of plots and a small cell phone screen, all I see are blobs a Bobby lines. Useless info without a zoom. Uninstalling.

5 stars. The crashes did not make this app bad. Just click OK, and it still working as usual. Hope the author can crushs bugs :) and it will be a 7 stars app. Great works. 9W2GNU, 73.

Works very well indeed on my Moto G4+. Would like to be able to zoom map to more easily access VHF and UHF propagation. Thanks for a really useful tool.

Crashes doing parameter changes. Would be great if it worked. Handy tool. 73 de ZS6BNE

Would be nice to be able to ZOOM in on the map. For UK an EU on vhf upwards I don't need to see North & South America. I only need Europe. Thanks for the development work.

Very good when it works but keeps crashing on my phone and tablets. Real shame cos it should get 5 star plus.
