About a year ago, my wife and I moved back to Durham. I've enjoyed listening to WUNC's programming, usually through the WUNC app on my android phone. Its key feature for me was the reliability of its connection to WUNC's programming. A month or so ago, it started dropping the connections. Sometime, when it stopped streaming, it appeared the app was having some kind of a data connectivity problem (it would show the pause icon and would recover while I watched). Usually, by the time I brought the app to the front, I would see the Play icon and would need to click the play icon to resume streaming. This might happen every hour or so. I have found that if I open the WUNC web site with the phone's browser and click Listen Live, I get reliable connections again and it streams until I stop it. I also get reliable connections it I use the the browser on my PC laptop.
You only get about 2 mins of audio after the screen turns off. Sometimes reconnecting means listening to the sponsorship message over again. It simply cant be used without constant maintenance. This is on android.
Many drops in the stream. When streaming the WUNC radio there are lots of times when the sound stops and, seconds later, it will pick up again.
My go to NPR station. Even though based in Raleigh, they cover just about every section of NC well. Pretty much listen to it all the time wether driving or at home. I often travel to the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area and listen to the Tidewater area NPR station there. While another good station, WUNC is a notch or two above. Much kudos to WUNC!
Cuts out and just plain stops frequently. My Galaxy device can run other apps, just not this one. WUNC app on my iPad is great, but carrying a tablet is not always practical.
It would be great if the app had a timer like the WHQR one has so it would turn off when I fall asleep and not drain the battery.
Bug-free, easy to use, great music and access to NPR and WUNC shows
Buggy. I want to listen but it keeps starting and stopping.
Great app but needs a stable WiFi connection.
Reliable and insitefull information I crave daily.
Much more stable. Thanks.
Love it!!! Great app
Keeps cutting out. Even with strong WiFi . Tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Can't you fix this? Otherwise I will have to get npr from another source
I love npr, but this app will stop playing randomly when screen is off on both my Android and iPhone. Not sure why. Please fix bugs.
Can not switch between cellular to WiFi or WiFi to WiFi without cutting out. Now it also has error reports when it had not been used. Uninstalled
Keeps cutting out after a few minutes for no reason. So frustrating!
Constant buffering delays. Terrible.
I love WUNC radio but don't like this ap: it keeps cutting out. Try npr one; it never cuts out.
Always buffering despite strong Wi-Fi at home and at work. Miss my NPR!
This app should allow using lower bit rat to save mobile data.
Crashes Everytime I disconnect from Bluetooth
Stream keeps shutting down suddenly.
This app constantly cuts off. I have uninstalled and reinstalled twice but it does no good. I have full signal, both wifi & data, nevertheless it stops after about 5 minutes . I have Droid turbo II and everything is up to date. With the Triangle area's hi tech population one would think your app would be the best it could be. It isn't. Sad.
I love WUNC, but I have been having trouble buffering in their playlists both on this app and on tunein. Never had issues with any other stations. If fixed 5 stars would be my rating. GO NPR! -- 3/16/2016, still having issues on my Galaxy S6, really not sure why, please help going through withdrawal here!
Biggest complaint: This app doesn't chromecast. No access to archive stories. But it does stream live wunc. Basically it's an unimaginative app with little to no features. Useful since cell phones typically don't have fm antenna and the NPR One app is too unpredictable.
Military stationed overseas after leaving NC. Love being able to hear quality NPR & WUNC reporting while away. App works well on Samsung Tablets as well despite being "designed for phones."
I love having this app. Now I don't have to sit in the driveway for those "driveway moment" stories. I start the app and transition smoothly from car to house without missing a beat.
Full signal, wifi and cell, but it continues to cut off.
Perfect when u r listening to a story in the car and have reached ur destination, but not done with the story!
This used to be a great app for listening to WUNC, but sometime in the past couple of months, it has become so kludgy that it has become impossible to listen to. Maximum frustration, because I like the station, but it will only stream while my phone is completely "on" -- does not continue when the display sleeps. Bad news, and bad business!
