WWWJDIC for Android

Bug 1: Kanji in 1x1 widget is not being centered vertically in landscape orientation (it is centered horizontally, however). Bug 2: When rotating from landscape into portrait and then back into landscape, the widget gets stuck on displaying "Loading..." Bug 3: Kanji in the widget is way too small, especially in landscape mode, it could use some bigger font size. Perhaps make the font size configurable? Will edit the review if things get fixed.

This is an adequate Japanese dictionary app but the user interface could use some work. I think the biggest reason I don't use it more is that there isn't a very clear separation between dictionary entries if there were a comma separating entries that would go a long way to making this app more usable.

It used to be amazing. However, I've installed the latest version on my new phone and the kanji recognition no longer works. It keeps prompting me to download the kanji recognizer app even though it's already installed. Without this feature working the app is basically useless to me.

Please go back to the old version/make a layout option where the buttons for example sentence etc. were on the bottom of the screen. Why do app developers put buttons out of reach, I genuinely wonder sometimes if they have ever used a modern smartphone....

Very good. It has a lot of informal Japanese vocabulary as well. My only complaint is that I wish the favorites menu could be reordered (alphabetical, manual, etc).

Still a great application overall, but a bug in 2.5.X onwards means it no longer connects to Kanji Recognizer (says you must download even if already installed - reinstalling/clearing cache etc. does not fix this), so handwiting recognition and search is no longer possible.

Still excellent, but buggy on the new Android 9. It gets laggy, buttons don't respond right away. It's still useable, just buggy.

I use the website a lot for various different things, but am unable to get the OCR to work at all...

I've used this dictionary for at least twenty years it seems. The best database.

I like it BUT the display font does not fit in the frame.

I was looking for a 漢字 dictionary with Pinyin [and Korean] reading; and this is the one! Спасибо Николай!

The app asks to install kanjirecognizer,despite it's already installed . Android 11

Recently kanji lookup stopped working, citing mirror problems.

Awesome app, it's really helpful. What I think is missing is a clear button (the "x") in the search field to quickly erase a word and look for another. Also, it would be awesome if the app detected if the text is romaji or not. I always switch the keyboard and forget to check/uncheck the checkbox.

Used to love this app when it worked. Now will not return searches no matter how many times I search.

This used to be my favourite app but now every time I try to search a kanji it's showing error and even if I change mirrors it's still showing the same error message. Please help!

I have been using this app with no problem but now I can't search kanji from radicals or draw kanji without an error. I have changed mirrors, uninstalled and reinstalled both this app and kanji recogniser but still there is the same error message. What can I do to fix this issue???

Very good app! I'm using the 'kanji of the day' widget mostly. I would give it 5 stars if the TTS worked to check pronunciation.

Search engine is not working anymore

If I search a sentence example of a verb, please also include sentences with the other forms of the verb.

With this update. Installed free, updated pro and voilá ... Running with free uninstalled. Marshmallow android installs only ? Regardless, bug gone. Glitch vanquished.

I looked up a Kanji and it will not connect to online. My Galaxy Note is connected by wifi and connects to my browser.

Pefect companion when learning japanese

PLUS the FREE version has the SAME features as the paid one, which the developer calls the donate version! The info page for WWWJDIC Donate says in part: "Try the free version first, and buy this one if you find it useful. Features are the same." How cool is that?!? I just finished reviewing & then uninstalling Takoboto. I compared it to WWWJDIC, so you might find that review helpful. Thanks to the developer for all your hard work!

Of all the things I have tried searching for it has only ever returned one result. Can't find any instructions and the FAQ is no help either. Waste of space.

I love the example sentences and the way there are word for word translations provided. I wish I had this for books!
