X-Wing Squad Builder by FFG

The app has been greatly improved since its initial release with better navigation and an excellent graphical interface, albeit a bit clunky. A few suggestions: it would be nice if the dials for each ship were viewable, and ship attribute totals would reflect the presence of certain upgrades. Also, being able to update information in the printout before printing, such as the player name, would be a great bonus. Overall, though, the app is serviceable and does what a player needs it to do. Update (10/27/18): the app is broken now. I can't open it. Version 1.0.3 worked okay, but 1.0.4 is a bummer. Please fix it!

This looks nice, and provides points values otherwise found in separate PDFs. But, it cannot be used offline. A lot of our venues have bad phone signal and no Wifi. This must be able to run offline. Force an initial sign-in if you must, but allow the app to work without a connection. The 'collection' section appears to be worthless. It does not limit the amount of time a card to be assigned, despite asking for how many physical items we bought. If we break the collection (swap cards with a mate), it does not allow the change to be registered.

I understand it is an app that will develop over time but FFG needs to fix a number of issues. First, you have to have an offline mode. Otherwise the app is all but useless. Second, the my collection feature does not appear to do anything right now. This should be fixed so when I do make a list I am not adding cards I don't own. Third, random crashes and lock ups. The app seems to have an issue with these. Clean house and streamline your app

This is functional. My biggest complaint is that the "my collection" doesn't limit the cards I can choose from. For example, I do not own the "Saws Renegades" expansion yet when building a Rebel squad the crew uogrades ( and probably more I didn't notice) were available. To a casual player who isn't familiar with the all the components of the game this is hugely frustrating. Would love to see this improved. Eitjer intuitively through "my collection" or manually being able to toggle the cards I actually own in the "card database" section. Keep up the good work. X-Wing is an exceptional game that I have been with since the beginning that I'm sure will continue to get better.

1. Doesn't have an option to exit. 2. Can't be used offline. I'd rather have all of the data saved on my phone than have to constantly eat up my data plan just to look at cards waiting to load. 3. Doesn't have an option to share outside of Facebook, Twitter, or the FFG Forums. Not even a simple text form? Really?? 4. After saving a squad it doesn't let you go back into that squad. Somehow the "Go Back" option means the app's home screen. 5. It would be nice to see the dials for the ships too.

Despite uninstalling / reinstalling the updated app, confirming that my "collection" is accurate, I still cannot actually save any lists I try and create. I can hit the button and nothing happens with anything I do. This is absolute garbage when it comes to trying to use the official app to be prepared. Also, when you build a list, the quick view of the ship cards do not accurately represent red maneuvers.

The App is getting better; but it's still got some work to be done to get to where it needs to be. Praise the Devs as they've got a lot of work done - but Quality testing needs doing ahead of release, not after. I wish there was a better way of reporting bugs, but here are a few; leaving the app to idle means the list you're working on doesn't save correctly, even when you press save. Theres no way of searching certain cards (Conditions) in the database. You can't search for cards while you're adding them to a list. The collection feature seems to do nothing at the moment. There's no way to find out what expansion a card comes in... Etc, etc.

Considering this app is supposed to be a major part of the X-Wing Second Edition experience, I'm pretty disappointed. The app appears to have been rushed out, and there are glaring coding errors such as "/Italic" appearing on screen where text is supposed to be in italics. On attempting to build a squad, if you want to see the ships card, you have to open an info box displaying all the info on the card before being able to tap a button to show you the card. Seems a bit pointless. Adding a title to a ship, for example adding the Marauder title to the Firespray, doesn't add the extra upgrade slots. The variable points cost for some upgrades show as '0' even when added to a ship. The standard points costs for some upgrades such as Proton Torps shows as '0'. Saving a squad works fine... until you create a new squad and try to save it, at which point the app saves over your first squad with the new one. Overall, it's not great. In fact, some of the fan-made squad builders work better.

Mediocre experience for an app that is 'required' to get the most out of the game. Also there is no way to view the details about the upgrade cards you have equipped unless you 'Edit' the squad you are viewing, this could potentially lead to upgrades being removed or swapped accidentally during play. Definitely room for improvement all around. Oh and add soundboard! Pew pew pew!

App is improving, some of the issues have been fixed. But the layout is pretty terrible. The giant save list button that covers part of your list as you are building is one horrendous example. The dev's should do a google search for X wing 2.0 squads designer, and check out it's clean , simple, easy to use and very intuitive. Using its design would vastly improve this app.

The app is required for building a list and is pretty ok for determining what is allowed, however there are recurring issues. A few things that can be improved upon: Firstly, their are no promts when exiting or leaving a list in progress, resulting in loss of saved work! A text prompt such as "would you like to save/exit" would be a professional touch. Similarly, a new list will also randomly delete a previously saved list. Not really satisfied with this app until these issues are resolved.

Great game, terrible app. As others have mentioned, viewing maneuvers takes you to a screen where you can't scroll to see all the maneuvers, and you can't exit out of the screen, which locks up the app, even using back button on Android. There are lockups on other screens, not user friendly, print limited. Just a really poor implementation of an app that is critical to the game. And it has been screwed up for 2+ years. C'mon FFG! You are better than this!! Please fix this app!

Overall, a bit lacking in features and polish as well as simply missing functionality that is implemented already. The search function doesn't appear to work when trying to look through the database. It doesn't have anything from first edition it seems, or at least none of the ones my friend and I have searched for. The most irritating thing now is simply that the ships don't show up anymore like they used to. I'll go to build a new squad and nothing comes up?

Can't seem to save a squad and there seems to be a lot of bugs. There seems to be a lot less ships than 1st edition atm. Would have been useful to have the ships manoeuvres so can see how all the ships have changed. I hope this is improved soon and quickly. Previous 1st edition apps by external parties have been better and more effective, though I get there's more complexity by not all ships having access to the same upgrade cards. Shame it appears to be an incomplete release and buggy as the changes promised did should like would really help the game

I've been putting off rating to see if the development team is able to clean up what is ultimately a lacklustre mess. Basic functionality and quality of life features present in third party apps simply do not exist in the official software. Additionally, there is a strong possibility new lists will save over existing ones. Download on preperation for updated festures but don't use. Look elsewhere.

This app is a disappointment. In terms of functionality it lacks behind third party apps and it is unstable at the best of times. I don't want to turn back to third party software... But this unfinished and unpolished piece of software leaves me no choice. I'll be back every few weeks hoping for improvements.

handy app, they've fixed a lot of the bugs it started with, and they're generally timely with the cost updates. that said, it's very clunky, I've had to reinstall several times, and it crashes a ton on me. Really offsets any positives in a negative way and I'll be using a different app for a while.

Absolutely love the miniatures game of X wing but if we have to use this absolute shambles of an app to play it the whole game is in danger. Cannot build a list without the app crashing 9 times out of 10 and on the odd occasion it does work some cards have incorrect points attributed to them. It really is such an utter mess when there are fan built squad builders which work much better. FFG really need to look at this and fix it quickly, this is the reason people were begging for it to be released before today so the problems could be fixed and we could all enjoy playing the game we love.

This thing is terrible. Horrible UX. The app description says you can quickly and easily add squads, but it's pretty much the opposite. It's real clunky to use. Most interface elements take up way too much screen real estate, leaving the actual important stuff being hard to grasp. I don't really care about the launch bugs, they were fixed quickly, but the whole thing is painful to use. I don't understand how Fantasy Flight Games let this this release the way it is now.

Please, in the name of all things decent, put the dials in the app. It might actually be good if that one thing is changed. When your building a ship, it gives you the option to view that ships card even though you can see all the info that's on the card in the standard build view so what's the point it's just redundant. Replace that card view with a dial view and then we would finally be able to build a list in the app.

Terrible. Barely functional. It requires an internet connection at all times, which eats bandwidth as there are so many images. There's been no QA at all - basic functionality doesn't work, such as variable cost upgrades - and there are visible HTML tags too. This is, quite simply, shambolic and needs to be sorted immediately given how much importance FFG have put in the app for organised play.

This is the biggest trash fire of an app launch I have ever experienced. Not only are you unable to actually sign up through the app, NOT ONLY are there NO SHIPS beyond the ones available in the core set, but this is so buggy. I have put too much money into this not to play, but I will be using a third party app that works to perfection. No wonder there were no preview articles about this app. It is so disappointing.

App is slow and I'm not finding it intuitive and use friendly. Graphics are ok, not very optimized for phones. It doesn't have the latest ships and two latest factions, even though they have been released officially. App cannot work offline, cannot show dials and base sizes, cannot duplicate loaded ships in the list. Collection cannot be adjusted (in case one has extra components for specific ships, e.g. not integral number of conversion kits).
