Absolutely useless, avoid like the plague and stick to the website. This app is probably the worst app I have encountered to date, as it just fails to deliver many of the usual website's features, leaving you with much worse experince on the app than on your phone's browser. What's the point to have an app when you can't implement any of the website features one would ask, and exactly that is beyond my mind. Would have given a 0 if possible.

After nearly a year still a smoldering POS. Long time XDA user and contributor. Can't believe this is the best they could come up with. Slow, awkward navigation, unintuitive UI, still missing core functionality, errors w/o explaination. Overall a horrible UX. Web app/site is still the best option, although it's no great shakes either. XDA Labs was far better for consumption and content creation despite its shortcomings

Ugh. It took forever to scroll to the bottom of an article to get to the comments. Then when trying to log into Disqus, it prompts to open in a web browser. No thanks. Uninstalling. Update: reinstalled 10/21/2021. Seems to be working satisfactorily. I'll update rating again accordingly as I use it more. Update 11/21/2021: All of the sudden on my P6P in the last few days it just gets stuck on the loading screen. I tried wiping the app's cache and data but same thing after. 1/8/2022: uninstalled

Previous used to be a lot better. It's not about getting used to new look and feel, even the functionality doesn't work properly. Once you view a thread, it doesn't become read automatically. You have to close and open the app again. Many things like these require many clicks for simple actions.

On the one hand, app development is not easy and I do love the new layout. However, it is wildly unintuitive, issues with staying logged in are prevalent, sometimes clicking on a thread to view it does not work and for some reason a notification on my phone will open the app, but not link me to the app notification panel. It instead takes me to the page of notifications but does not clear it. Then when I go to the page I have to click the thread again to reply. It just, doesn't feel right yet.

Every page gives some sort of error message or refuses to load entirely. It's just plain broken, but reading other reviews that's not really surprising. I just wish they would have flushed out the app experience before killing the old app and website design. I miss labs. It wasn't flashy or modern but it actually worked.

For a forum about mobile devices, this app is just awful. Just, so bad. It is far easier to use a web browser. Opening a thread is just a web view, and hitting back in a thread backs you ALL the way out to the menu, even if you had clicked on other threads I side the web view. And it's SLOW. So gosh darn slow. It takes up most of my old device's ram, and it takes a good minute to load a thread, where as with the old app it was just fine.

EDIT: Log-in is broken if you are using Firefox. Chrome-based browsers log in successfully!! Go to the forum thread for more solutions. It's still a bit stuttery in places and I LOATHE the settings style with the ugly gray square you can't click off of when I select a setting, even the back button doesn't click off of that! The performance and especially style could use some work, otherwise, good. Also, having the article view from the old app, please, please, it was great. Thank you! :)

It has made a simple thing like browsing forums and reading news unnecessarily cumbersome and difficult. Useless, might as well stick to the website. EDIT: June 2021. and the experience is still horrible. For every thing I want to do there are two or three extra steps. Very bad design and poor usability.

App before would have been 5 stars. The old app didn't have a picturesque design however it was in fact very practical. The new app has a design that makes it look modern, but the practically of the new app is terrible to say the least. It is slow, cluttered and almost impossible to navigate through i.e. scrolling. Other issues includes adding threads and a few others. I'm writing this review in the hopes that XDA will fix this app, it has a lot of potential but has met very little of it.

Sooo many bugs. Everywhere I look, I see text cut off or just missing entirely. Functionally, things seem to work but with a ton of display issues and a not so straight-forward UI. The previous app wasn't as flashy, but you could actually use it to navigate to your fav posts and read the most recent blog articles without running into issues.

The app needs to stop telling me to allow notifications to continue. Everytime I click somewhere I get that stupid pop-up. I don't want/need notifications so stop harassing me about it. Also, as mentioned a million times in the comments, the new layout is awful, confusing, not intuitive whatsoever. It's just a mess. I want the old one back!

Dav. S. Dec 29, 2021

For Nov. update: still utter garbage. Frequently logs out but notifications still work which then appear broken due to being in guest mode. It's a hassle to login too, such a stupid process. You have to tap too many places to actually view a thread you already selected view. The layout is terrible and inconsistent. Why on Earth was XDA labs scraped for this nonsense?! It should have been the other way around.

Won't load past splash screen. App looks good but it's not intuitive. Too many clicks needed to get where I want. For example, when looking at my watched forums, you have to click to view the preview (which only shows you the first posts of the forum, which is years ago on some) then you have to click view, then find what page you want. The old apps would take you right to the last read comment.

Half the time the app is bugging out, unable to load any of the forums when they open like a website. I do get a quick flash of what I was supposed to get, but then it vanishes to a blank screen as if the page we're done loading. I'm very tempted to uninstall, but the notifications are working and help me keep up to tabs.

I use XDA for accessing my devices forums to download ROMs etc. This new XDA app seem to not be able to download .zip files and instead I get .bin files on my phone... To make things worse I can also not open URLs from within the app in my standalone browser (and nor can I copy the URL texts from within the app for some stupid reason...), therefore every time I try to download anything I have to close the damn app out of frustration and then open my browser and manually go look for what I was just looking at, once more... So to me personally this app is now completely useless and does nothing.

I am more than frustrated with this app. I can not log into my account and I can NOT even create a NEW account. I even said ok, let me just use the app without an account and I get an error saying "it can not parse the URL". This is frustrated because I paid for the adfree experience awhile back and now I have the new app that contains ads and it doesn't even work.

Jay. W. Jan 25, 2021

Doesn't work anymore. This used to be an app I went to all the time to stay up to date, now it's pretty much useless. When I get a notification that there was an update in a thread when I click on the notification it takes me to all threads and I still have to navigate to the update. Also the navigation isn't very efficient and it's hard to get to what you need. Uninstalled and started using the website.

Wyn. S. Jan 23, 2021

Just view XDA with your web browser. The app is horribly unintuitive, navigating threads is a nightmare, there is no way to go straight to my phone's page. Honestly I can't imagine a single person on the planet preferring this new app for any reason besides it's pretty. I love XDA, but this new app is absolute garbage and a waste of server space and code. At least ditch the preview popup that I suspect only exists to annoy users, and let us just default to our phone's page.

Giu. A. Mar 18, 2021

Cluttered and unintuitive interface. Lots of taps to do easy things. It was perfectly good before, and you had to ruin it. EDIT: why can't I navigate UP in a forum FROM A THREAD?! Also why the hell does it sort by NEWEST when I go to the first page of a thread? What even is the sense of that option? This app made me hate browsing XDA, I can only manage to do it from my pc now

Wil. H. Jan 8, 2021

There are as many ads as posts it seems. Freezes on scroll so I end up opening in browser to continue past the first dozen or so topics. Labs was WAY more user friendly and worked. An intuitive gesture would be nice. Click on an image and instinctively hit back to return to topic only to find you've excited out of it.

Bog. P. Jan 16, 2021

Previous version was ok, but the new one is unusable, a truly nightmare. Full of ads, very hard to navigate threads, very hard to find new posts in threads. Cannot download files attached in the thread. XDA developers is The Forum for anything Android, I cannot understand how they come up with this app. It is a Horrible app. Edit Jan 2021: last 2 updates break the app completely. Uninstalling.

Jar. S. Dec 9, 2020

The new app is... Very very bad. There is no news feed, and the forums are just a webview of the website, which is slower on some devices than your browser. It's also hard to use, as the back button closes a thread as opposed to going back, like a browser would.

Don. A. Mar 12, 2021

Edit: I have moved my review up to three stars. the app developer is constantly updating and improving this app that was an absolute disaster in the beginning. However this really isn't an app to view the website it is a web browser packed full of janky garish ads. I might as well just use Chrome or another web browser. Previous comments: A complete embarrassment for a website that is primarily about development of mobile operating systems. In laymen's terms, this app is an epic fail.

The old app was perfect. This app runs very poorly on my LG v20. It took me three attempts to edit a post. First time was the user error. Second time the app crashed while trying to copy my work as not to lose it again. Luckily it did copy.
