Xero Accounting Software

Avoid, security is too high, can't get in a lot of the time as the authentication app doesn't work, there are better alternatives out there. Been using Xero for years but it's just got to the point where you try to do an invoice there and then and the two factor authentication just becomes too much, I'm all for security but when it impacts your ability to do the job it becomes too much. If there was a more reliable authentication app or there was the ability to turn off 2FA.

Very useful app. We have a small business. Each morning I check the transactions from the previous day and reconcile them. We have rules set up to automatically allocate whatever transactions that we can, so a quick check using this app lets us reconcile most of them over breakfast. Some of the more complex transactions require attention on the computer, but each day is usually fully reconciled before 9 the next morning! This app is not the complete programme but a very useful accessory.

This app has no rotate to landscape function so cannot be used on a tablet with a keyboard. Xero support has a 'voting' system for the implementation of features, and apparently not a sufficient number have shown interest, so rotation won't be included. Maybe just not enough people are aware they can 'vote' for basic functions via the Xero community forum. Bizarre. *UPDATE* almost 3 years on and still no rotate to landscape for tablets/phones, come on dev, please.

Mediocre at best. Despite suggesting showing all transactions and a more complete balance in 2019, the app still only shows reconciled transactions. If I wanted a bank balance, I'd use the bank's mobile app. Xero could be far more useful if the mobile app included unreconciled expenses in the balance. This is what orgs want to know: how much money is available to spend. Instead, Xero continues to deliver a crippled app that has not seen critical improvements to help businesses in three years.

sometimes hard to navigate my way around xero I was on invoice simple for 5 years before xero and it was very simply to get in and out of invoice/estimate at any stage of the process. it would be better if you could click on the invoice/estimate to make alterations more simply but xero is very good apart from that.

Have been using Xero app for over 8 years for my small business. Only thing missing is being able to create purchase orders on the go and send to suppliers. I often need to create purchases for one supplier as I am leaving site to go and pick up the items. It would be so much easier to be able to send a purchase order so there is no discrepency in what I want and what gets picked. Currently I have to phone the order through sometimes on a bad line so errors can occur. Otherwise very happy.

The two factor authentification set up with Android is infuriating and not phone user friendly. Android doesn't automatically come with QR scanners and and you have to have a computer handy to even get the QR code. If you only have a phone and try to use the codes it sends you in a frustrating loop between apps and the codes don't even work half the time. The app also wouldn't recognize my second email. Bottom line: set up is terrible for phone users.

it's not easy to give receipts for deposit received, it used to be easy to add terms now I can't find the button. and you can only do quotes their is no way to do estimates and if your in construction, their is a massive legal difference between a quote and an estimate

Great app for on the job invoicing and storing receipts straight away to save keeping paper copies. So simple to use as I'm a tradesman and don't have time to waste on difficult accounting apps

Very useful. I find it simple to use and it has enough functionality for my purposes. It's handy to reconcile bank balances, see what invoices and bills are due and to enter receipts and to have a profit figure for the year. If I need any more I find the browser version works fine on my phone .

Doesn't let me log in, check box to remember log in does nothing, sends me a code every time. I'll pay for a service, this is ridiculous

This is a very convenient and useful software to use. As this is the only accounting software I've used I can't compare. But it meets all my requirements and is reasonably priced.

Xero is a half baked platform that barely meets basic accounting needs. We started with them for our IT business and our Amazon seller business. It immediately failed to deliver for basic invoicing needs for the IT company and i moved to Zoho, but i only needed the platform once a month to reconcile the Amazon business, so despite the incredible hoops to use this platform, it was OK for that... However, with the addition of the completely unnecessary verification process, it was an easy dump.

Where's Purchase Orders in the app? what's the good of having only a small proportion of your accounting software features available on the app? Where's project allocation in bills? Can't believe we pay for this. Edit: "Sales" screen only has sections "invoices" and "quotes." "Projects" being a paid-for add-on we expect these features to be present and to work. Spend some of our high £subs on dev! Allocating POs to projects... another feature missing across the board Edit: Still cant SEND a PO

Total rubbish can't login on any device and trying to check why it changed settings so prices are inclusive of vat so all invoices have had 20%knocked off the cost price entered.

Dont like that the app requires manual updating and it seems to go out of sync easily

brilliant product, reliable, updates regularly, good interface on mobile and desktop.

Not enough functionality. If you adjust the tax on an invoice on the website/desktop you then can't look at the invoice on the app. Also, unable to see products and any inventory in the app.

It's good if it works. Support is useless and if you're locked out requires 2 stage authorisation which is painful. I still can't work out how to use it and the support people aren't much help either.

very expensive for what it is. my subscription price has increased about 40percent in less than 2 years

Extremely frustrating trying to log in with the mfa security not allowing me to log in. Spent 4 hours and can't get into my account

the app doesn't have enough features compared to the website.

excellent system for any company. very easy to use and connect with your accountant. also great for invoice straight from your phone on the go.

This is very frustrating and fiddly. Very little can be done from the app but all through a desktop. It is not at all beautiful, as described! For beauty see Albert invoicing for example and I find quickbooks quick, easy, intuitive and beautiful and you can set it up so quickly from your app. This is so disappointing. I wanted to use this to link to Starling but it doesn't display the transactions either. I've wasted hours and haven't got anywhere with this sadly. Wish this was much much better.

Stay away from this app full stop. Been with them for more than two years now and I am going to move my business of their platform. Price goes up, features are taken away and newly introduced features either don't work or you pay extra for them. Simple example - expenses worked just fine. Some thought there is money to be made by adding a separate add-on for those who want OCR.. Needless to say the simple expense function is now being phased out and if you need expenses you need to use the add-on and of course pay extra by a multiple.... I neither want OCR (this is done by a 3rd party receiving the photo I take of the expense and hence also shows my credit card details) nor do I need it but i suppose that doesn't matter. Simply stay clear!!

This app is faily poor at best. In a world with mobile phones and tablets as powerful as desktop machines and where cross border/timezone working is fairly normal, I think that exceptional apps are key. Even as a software engineer I don't have a computer at home! However I would say that this looks like a work in progress and I look forward to seeing it evolve. But for now its a bit mediocre! Would love to be able to take my phone to a meeting instead of the lappy.

the app lags and cut out a lot. it gets annoying when writing a long detailed description invoice and then the app decides to load and come up with a loading error message. also had problems once a while sending invoice. finding out 2 weeks later the invoice hasn't been sent. there needs to be a new update which reduces the lag and loading problems. other then that, it's a really great app and would recommend it to any small business such as myself.
