possibly the best feature app of the entire Xero eco system. just runs as it's supposed to and analyses receipts 99% accurately small footprint, fast starting, easy to use for all team members I've ever introduced it too. bravo!

Frankly, I'm appalled with Xero. They lure you in with promises of extra functionality, for which you have to pay more. Then their expenses app doesn't work (it crashes whenever I take a photo. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it twice). Then the new expenses module doesn't summarise on the Xero home page. It is exasperating in the extreme. Dear Xero, when you charge for additional functionality, please test it first. I'm seriously considering Quickbooks, or going back to Excel.

I like how it auto reads receipts and populates fields for you (nearly always correctly). BUT, app needs to be able to support alternative file type upload (I.e. PDF) ASAP, not just images! I see a few responses from Xero saying this feature is coming, but directing us to the web app is a bit of a cop out. Hurry up already as this should have been a feature from the start.

We have tried multiple xero and xero compatible apps but this expenses app is by far the most useful and least glitchy. Used daily and has proved itself to be a serious time saver.

defaults to company paid not employee paid, auto scan is amount not company and only works on app, no email address to forward receipts to auto scan, two diff apps required for approves/submitters

I can't submit/save an expense on a Samsung S7. After filling out all the fields, I hit submit and get "an error occurred whilst submitting expense", then "please fill out expense details". I have filled out all the fields possible, but the total amount at the bottom stays at zero (and I cant see how to edit it). Hope this helps.

Like many, I was shocked that the ➕+ button disappeared, then remembered what Xero support told me when activating.. So go to Accounts-Expenses Claims and I found a large message saying that my organisation stopped using Expenses subscription (wasn't true!), I had to re-purchase it (for 0)and now button is showing after restarting the app. So basically it looks like all of our organisations got reset to not subscribe to expense add-on, check yours!

I want to like this app, but the captured pictures are blurry, text is unreadable. Nothing wrong with my camera, the camera pic pre-capture looks fine, post-capture it seems like it is saving it in an extremely low resolution file. Unusable until this is fixed sadly. I'm on an S21.

Updated and now constantly saying FAILED, FAILED, No Internet connection, FAILED. The Internet connection is fine but not this app. A refresh of the page 2 - 3 makes the page load instantly, but you can guess the next page FAILED. Looks like you don't do any QA Xero.

This app looks like it was written to a very limited spec and not live-tested. Adding expenses in a country that doesn't use gbp, usd or eur (e. g. Japan) is incredibly tedious. You have to select the currency every single time. Why can't it use location to know where you are or at least save the last used currency in the top list. Also the part where you have to select where the expense was spent doesn't work. The returned set of Google locations is ridiculously small and wrong.

The multifactor login really doesn't work. The app gives you a QR code to scan, which you have to install a second app for, but you can't scan the code using your phone because the code is on your phone... The option to use a password is there, but there's nowhere to enter the password on their verify app. So, can't even gain access.

So I had a problem where camera would shut the app as soon as it was activated. Xero team worked tirelessly and kept communication up through whole process. Kudos for that. Great support. Very happy. Ended up being the Do Not Disturb feature on phone OS. All good now 👍😊

Terrible. Assumes you need to be paid back.. But this is rarely the case. More often have used company money and just need to send in receipt. I will never be paying for this service. We are now paying more for less. Not happy Xero. Allow employees to submit receipts with their method of payment eg company credit card for reconciliation. That's an app I would pay for.

Great for submitting expenses straight to xero but why oh why doesn't it have a simple mileage tracker? Even if you had to enter the mileage manually it would be better than nothing. As it is I have to tell clients to use a separate app for mileage and many of those can log expenses too. Seems a missed opportunity....

What a piece of junk. Why did xero create a separate expenses app when the main xero app used to accommodate expenses ok. This app crashes, times out, locks you out 'to protect your data' and is basically more trouble than its worth. However, they have you by the short n curlys as there's no other choice! Sort it our Xero.

Unreliable two factor authentication destroys what was once a good product. Look elsewhere if your business depends upon reliable accounting software, no way to turn it off and will let you down when you most need it

Pretty good. Receipt scanning is a bit clunky and takes ages to capture the pic. And they don't categorise things properly for you. But it's still pretty good.

Great app and appreciate continuous improvements. A feature to include next is to have the rate per km set up on organisation settings and not per travel claim. It makes sense as most organisations have a standard rate which is centrally administered.

Some elements are ok, but it creates a separate line in xero for every single tinyb expense, meaning xero gets filled with pages and pages of tiny transactions. Almost a deal breaker. Reported to xero but no positive response to fixing.

Ridiculously bad product and even worse support. Can't create a simple expense report. U have to enter each receipt manually, submit, approve and then start from scratch on the next receipt. Likewise as an approver, u have to open each one and download each to your phone. Contacted them for support and they blew me off, sending me a broken link to their blog. Avoid this app unless forced to use it. If ur, be prepared to spend hours on even a short report.

No search facility to check if already entered something. Could be slicker. Wish could have templates with predefined items for certain expenses types and clients (i.e. a tracking categories). Also wish could add expenses and alter labels for several users from same admin account on app, and not have to keep logging out of one and into the other. Fine for individual users but not small business admin working with 3 peoples expenses.

A bit too basic for most companies but fine for a one or 2 man band. Expenses must be submitted line-by-line rather than inputting them all and submitting them all at once. There is no pre-approval mechanism before received by finance.

Can't log in - now that Xero has 2FA, it requires response from my phone to log in. I've verified my ID repeatedly, but it just takes me back to the "we've sent a message to your phone - please verify". I've tried both other verification methods, but still can't log in.

Camera not working? I'm on Galaxy Note 10+ and all of a sudden the camera ability to take a pic of receipt has stopped working. It takes me to the camera screen but it is totally blacked out. I have checked permissions and uninstalled/reinstalled the app. No luck. Any ideas?

Not the best, but is functional, struggles a lot with low connectivity. And has no offline mode.

Unlock experience with fingerprint on Google Pixel 3 XL is awful. Camera control is poor and images from LCD screens are awful - generally quicker and more reliable to print then take image.
