Useless and redundant. This app constantly asks you to re-sign in after an extended period of inactivity, which defeats the purpose when that sign-in screen also asks for authentication codes. There are many other apps that support 2FA for multiple accounts I would be much happier using. This is just adware that barely works and only for one account. You're better off using phone and email for 2FA with Xfinity, while I'd recommend Microsoft Authenticator or similar apps for all other accounts.
This app is so bad! It won't even let me get passed the sign in screen no matter what I try. It logins in the immediately resets and asks me to login in again. Confirmed password many times, it just plain old won't sign in. Fix your app or don't have one at all. Every Xfinity app I've used has issues.
I've installed and uninstalled this app so many times - cleared the cache, logged out and back in, etc. I've done everything I possibly could to try to get this app to load but it never would. So, in order to authenticate myself, I have to get text messages and enter to codes to do so. This app is useless! 😡
Opened app and clicked "Register with Xfinity," which opens a "Sign in to Xfinity" page. I'm told that I'm already signed in, so I should click "Continue." I do, and am taken back to the previous "Register with Xfinity" page. I CANNOT GET OUT OF THIS LOOP. The same thing happens when I receive a message to "Authenticate Xfinity Authenticator"! This is VERY FRUSTRATING. FIX THE APP!
Won't work. I've tried clearing my cookies (yes cookies accepted), cleared the cache on the app, uninstalled the app and tried again... It just keeps saying, this, no matter what I try: "Loading now. This should only take a minute..." Then if fails with; "Something went wrong We are unable to process your request" I wish Comcast would let us use Google Authenticator or Duo, why reinvent the wheel and make me install more apps?
It doesn't work. It says it's compatible with my pc and that it is installed, yet there is no window to open it nor is there an icon on my desk top to open it with. I am unable to verify my pc so I can change my network name and password, which is vital to me at this time. I guess I'll just have to cancel Comcast to solve my problem. What a waste of time. I have been trying to figure it out for 2 hours or more. I'm done, done, done.
I replaced my phone. The app worked on the old phone. On the new phone like many reviewers, the app went into an unable to load loop. Advice to use the app to look up FAQ or contact support is worthless. We can't get into the app.
Worse experience i had with any authentication app ever. Asking and directing links that dont work. Phone numbers never get to a person. Waste of time. I switched my service because of this app. Comcast customer service is the absolute worst on planet earth.
The app works but so does my other 2FA authenticator devices. Why can't Comcast follow industry standard security and adopt OATH-TOTP and/or FIDO U2F? They are better, more universal, and more secure than a 18MB phone app of unvetted security that's just a press ok to access your account app. And the recovery is a joke, send me an SMS to my phone because I don't have access to the really secure authenticator app (that's on my phone).
I dont like how we have to download an entirely different app than the one Google uses; Whats-more is they both do the same thing, dude! On top of that the app is of lower quality than google. when it works, it works fine....when it works. 3 stars.
Neither of the two apps I have are working this morning. Authenticator just hangs on the loading screen, and my account doesn't log in. Did you guys get hacked again? How about building a better app and opposed to suggesting the installation of yet another browser. Billions a year! Billions! Sigh.
Wants me to re-authenticate with a username and password, but barfs if you try to used the credentials saved to the device and instead demands you manually type them in, which is inherently LESS SECURE. Really pretty poor form folks.
Why another authenticator app! Is this really necessary? I am a huge proponent of 2FA when done using hardware keys or authenticator apps. But one authenticator app should be all that is needed for all 2FA enabled accounts. Not Xfinity! They are special... apparently I need their authenticator app as well as Authy, Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator. Why!? I'd dump the app in a heartbeat if I could be secure without it!
Very useful app, but latest update sort of broke it ( Don't worry, I'm not upset, mistakes and bugs happen!) I get redirected to the same page trying to sign back into authenticator.
Does it work? Yes. Is it more secure than a text message? Yes. Can I use any other QR based authentication client app so that I don't have to have a separate app just for Xfinity? No, and that's a huge gap. I've got a Yubikey that I want to use here, and I can't. What it does, it does well, but I would prefer to use a third party app.
I hadn't tried logging in since September, but the issue is fixed now and I was able to log in. I have a Galaxy S9 on Android 10.
Xfinity Authenticator app helps keep your information safe even if someone gains unwanted access to your Xfinity ID. This extra layer of security helps prevent anyone who does not have your permission from signing into your Xfinity account. Authenticator works with our Two-Step Verification, so it's easy to approve sign-in requests with your fingerprint. Xfinity Authenticator is available to all Xfinity customers.
I installed it only so that I could write a review to criticize it. Forcing 2FA with an Xfinity-only app is absolutely ridiculous and just another reason to be disgusted with this company. The rest of the world provides for configurations using EXISTING 2FA solutions. Requiring the Xfinity branded authenticator is suspect of motive at best, and quite frankly another drop in the giant disappointment bucket that is Comcast Xfinity.
Dev replied to review but it was the 3/7 update that crashed it. 3/2021 update crashes app. tries to setup device previously set up. what a terrible app. 3 to 1 stars. just use standard auth app. ugh. 5/2020 app doesnt approve from notification. have to go into the app. not great. 3 stars.
Honestly I am sure the apps are good but my hacker disagrees and changes them all up so they are to his liking. That's why I am disconnecting on the 5th I l8ke to see peeps enjoy themselves but smoke signals have presented a better connection these last 6 months. And b4 you ask yes I have called yes they have transferred to security yes I have sat on hold for an hour only to be disconnected without any resolve or a callback and I have been admonished for getting upset about no service.
I the best keep you eviromental saveKeep your Xfinity account safe, even if someone obtains your password. App is buggy. Please support standard 2FA instead of yet another custom 2FA app. I hate installing an app for every site that does 2FA. It is a standard. Just support the standard. I installed this app and immediately got into an infinite loop asking me to confirm my recovery data over and over and over. Just support the standard!
The world doesn't need another proprietary authenticator app, especially when nearly everyone uses the industry standard / best practices one. If you insist on having your own app, how about this? Use the standard, support other sites and encourage people to use yours for everything, then advertise Xfinity in your app. You're welcome for the anybody-could-have-thought-of-this marketing advice.
if yhis is already set up and you get locjed out, there is no way to get vack in, ive been trying for 3 weeks breach of contract for falure to provide service is the only course of action. use a carrier for a phone . xfinity uses Verizon, now I do too.
It does what it is supposed to, but why have it in a separate app? You could build this into the My Account app, or even better, allow us to utilize our existing third-party authenticators....Google Authenticator, Authy, etc.
Even with this, having not only an Xfinity email account, and as an Xfinity Mobile customer, I was NEVER able to connect to ANY Xfinity Wifi Hotspot at all.
Makes it 10 times easier to log into Xfinity which is a nightmare on any given day. Check it out
This also kept leaving the door open just to be slammed in my face. All these apps need a protective screen sharing or something for the low lives I've been dealing with for 2 months
Seriously! Why have another Xfinity app when you already have the Xfinity Connect app that should have this feature built in. What a waste from a major corporation like Xfinity.
This app won't let me in because of the security authentication which stops me from using a phone number or email address I've used elsewhere with the xfinity services. I've ran into this problem before and it's ridiculous as i don't have unlimited email address and phone number to use just for xfinity services. So much for good security.
