This app works really well, mostly. I think it could be just a little better though. U have 2 constantly open it 4 it 2 work right. I.E. U could be runnin off of Wi-Fi only, be close 2 the Mark, have 3 or more bars of service, & it'll be working great. Then, all the sudden the Wi-Fi will go off. As soon as I open the app again its back 2 full bars. But the app is open in the background already. Always. Feels like U shouldnt have 2 keep opening if its open in the background. Be 5 stars otherwise.
One of the worst apps. It doesnt work with Samsung phones. Several of us have issues connecting to Profile management & we are not able to connect to secure xfinity hostpots. I called your customer service as well & your customer service is another worst thing. They keep transferring me between internet team and mobile team like football. I was transferred 4 times between these times. I recommend people not to use this app at all.
Sadly, it appears Comcast has still failed to fix the bug that prevents the formation of WiFi profiles necessary to access their hotspots. Their forums are littered with user experiences to this regard but they have still yet to deploy a fix. Disappointing, as affected users like me are paying for this service and not able to use it.
This app is useless for anything other than downloading the security key or whatever thats needed to access XFINITY networks. Other than that, the wifi will break and there's no way to connect via the app. They pretend the app reduces the clunky login and it doesn't.
My comcast hot spot says it is 307 feet away from me but it is in my office which should be a few feet away and I don't know who to contact to fix? Now I don't trust the app to tell me the truth since it also does not display my Business name. It also constantly drops connections so it's a great idea if it would only work as advertised!
This app has not been successful for me at all. Anytime I've tried to connect with an Xfinity Wi-Fi hotspot while I'm out and about if I'm not an actual business it doesn't work. I would say it's a waste of time but I still love Xfinity.
Update for March 2022 on Pixel 6 Pro: App is still completely useless. Can't connect to any hotspots with or without the app. The app just gives me the following error: "WiFi Profile Management has been disabled. Hotspots will not manage the installation of secure Xfinity WIFi profiles on this device."
I'm always having to put my password in all the time and then get a text code as well for the same phone over and over and then it seems to unlink itself and it gets me very frustrated but other than that it has the best bars and I pay for AT&t and have horrible service at home thank God I have Comcast for my internet. I might switch to their phone service but I'm not sure how it would work when I go to visit Point Roberts Washington. I don't know how it works roaming etc sick expensive prepaid
Like many others are experiencing, my app won't download the wifi profiles necessary to connect to secure hotspots. Xfinity has been aware of the issue for months, and it still isn't fixed. Would not recommend their service.
Well I mean it's what I hate is that you know when you're driving my phone just does nothing but has pop ups everywhere do you want to connect do you want to connect and I thought it would just automatically connect when I got close enough to the different hotspots and I don't know it's just frustrating
I know I complain about hotspots cutting off BUT.. Xfinity mobile is the very best experience for me. Rather than complain. I'm going unlimited today. It's so worth it. I've enjoyed the $18 a month bill last 2 months but I want the whole experience. Thank you Xfinity! You rock!
Usually see a lot of places around that you could get the Wi-Fi within 20' a 100' and a lot of times you can't find anything although they show all these places. I don't understand it
This app doesn't let you connect to the hotspots if you are on Android device. Wifi profile management is disabled and the tech support have no clue about it. Ridiculous
3/8/22 - no change. 11/2/21 - Edit: Same issue on the Pixel 6 Pro. Pixel 4 XL: "Wifi profile management has been disabled." This happens on version 8.0.0 and above. Downgrading to 7.1.0 fixes the issue. Please fix this so I can update the app.
I think this idea and also that Xfinity would do such a thing is awesome! I just recently had no internet and no data and if it wasn't for this great opportunity I would of never been able to get my important stuff done. Thank you Xfinity
Just a map. This app does nothing of benefit to anyone but take up space on your phone and an extra chance to use your login credentials. It doesn't connect you to wifi; it doesn't manage the networks; it doesn't improve connectivity. For over a week I have been trying to connect to a secure Xfinity wifi at work, and there is no internet no matter what I try. This app is a tease and does nothing for you.
I have tried at least 30 times on different devices with no success to get a secure line. I've talked to their tech people with no success. This is the last straw. Charges are appearing from nowhere, devices returned more than a year ago are now appearing as unreturned equipment on my bill. Increases never stop, but service is slowly coming to a halt. You should delete the app until you address your issues.
This app does nothing but waste time and space on my phone. I connected with xfinitywifi just fine before this, so what's the purpose of it? NOTHING! I already had to log in to use xfinitywifi and it already connected automatically before this app. As with ALL things from Comcast/Xfinity, I wouldn't be surprised if we all see a charge added to our bills, without any prior warning, to be able to use it! Just a bunch of greedy, scammers!
It would be nice if the app actually worked like all of the documentation states. To connect to the XFINITY (secure) network I have to manually configure the connection. On Apple devices you can download the security profile, install it and then connect flawlessly without the need for another app. Either publish a security profile for Android devices or fix the app to connect to the XFINITY network.
Frustrating! How does this have 4 stars? I agree w/all of the most recent reviews. I thought this app would connect automatically to Xfinity hotspots once you had entered and saved your credentials. But, noooo....I have to perform the most convoluted set of steps to connect (Android) and hope it stays connected (even if I stay in one spot) because if it doesn't, I have to start all over again. This app feels like a curse, not a useful blessing. p.s. Surprise! Service dropped while I was writing.
Makes it very easy to auto-connect when in town which saves quite a bit on a cellular data plan! Greatly improved auto reconnect to safe networks back and forth. The big city areas are starting to have a mesh network setup that lets you move from one node to another with little-to-no effort on your part!! Very excited to how far this company continues to enrich these entertainment experiences and so much more!!
Like anything in the Xfinity/Comcast universe, the WiFi system is a joke. You have to download this app, but it does nothing, absolutely NOTHING. You still have to log in to the WiFi via your phone, and you get kicked out every few minutes, at which point you get an annoying popup telling you to reconnect. More garbage from Comcast, who can try to change their name, but is still the same old POS company.
The app has not been able to get past the "Checking for updates..." loading screen for weeks. Despite this, sometimes I will seemingly be able to connect to Xfinity hotspots around me. Other times, it will partially connect me to hotspots and not give me actual internet access. So, it seems like it (sort of) works (occasionally). Mostly, though, this app has absolutely no functionality due to whatever glitch is causing it to get stuck on the update screen upon launch.
need to learn to use it better, I think it's a great way to save $$$and data package, I guess my initial response was that I didn't understand how to find and save hotspots that would work in area that I travel to. I have two phones and two carriers, it's super with xfinity and my Samsung Galaxy 10. But the biggest savings isn't with that particular phone, I have a Pixel XL3 and Verizon. I download all of the area maps, buses, schedules, etc. and I don't use any of my over priced data package.
While there appear to be numerous hotspots near me, oddly, I am not able to connect. My wifi is turned on, there is one within 70 ft, at a business and I still cannot connect. Having "millions" of hotspots is useless if you cannot use them. The only time I find I am connected to an xfinity hotspot is at home where I have to disconnect to connect to my home wifi because the xfinity, while it shows a great signal, is extremely slow.
After many years of a broken app, it has finally gotten...better. It's still VERY basic and shows a map of your nearby networks, but it finally does the trick and I never have to manually sign into hotspots with a captive portal from Xfinity. It only works with specific Xfinity hotspots and not CableWifi ones, but I'm okay with that. I assume there's nothing that Xfinity can do with the CableWifi networks.
