The ZF Autos are used throughout the whole BMW range, from the 1-series hatchbacks, to the mighty Alpina and M cars!
While the hardware stays widely the same, throughout all applications and is mainly divided in only 2 types (6HP19/21 and 6HP26/28 for 6-Speed, 8HP45/50 and 8HP70/75 for 8-Speed), the software inside the controller makes it possible to adapt the transmission, to every vehicle and mimic a wide range of driver styles. Smooth and comfy in the Diesel applications, the same transmission can be tweaked to deliver snap-on take-off behavior, surprisingly fast shift times and even race-style throttle blips on downshifts.
Tweaking your transmission is not only about getting quicker, or holding more power. An automatic transmission is deeply involved into vehicle dynamics and contributes very much to the overall driving experience. Amazing job. I've managed very good times with 2 different engine just because of your software. The shifts are unreal. As soon you start understanding xhp then you will see all the benefits. Highly recommend
The app works reliably and is very user friendly. Currently having stage 2 in BMW E91 325xi with n52 and 6-speed ZF transmission. Shifts are quick, but still comfortable. Customer service is friendly and responsive. Don't blaim the app, if you don't use recommended cable hardware for transmission flash and then end up with communication errors during the process. The correct cable is really important to manage flashing reliably. Don't try to save money by using some other cable.
I have an e66 ( 06 750li ) which are notorious for slipping transmissions. Believe it or not, this Map Flash pretty much took care of it with its new shifting maps, and I'm getting better mpg's. Totally love this. Well worth every penny
Login expired and again I can't login without having Chrome installed. Not everyone has or wants to install Chrome, this is a very bad experience
Absolutely brilliant. Had some troubles initially but that was due to a cheap cable - do yourself a favour and buy a good cable before starting. After I got the better cable (from Bimmergeeks) the flash was super fast and faultless. The car feels fantastic. The manual shifts feel mechanical rather than electronic, it feels more like a manual gearbox. If you're reading this then you're keen on this app, so stop reading and just go and get it.
Done Stage2 to my 640d and can't see any big difference. Maybe shifting is a bit quicker but unnoticeable. Car is already shifting very well with stock software. Doesn't worth the money.
Excellent app and outstanding customer service.
The app and is use are great. Completely changes the vehicle and how it acts. I wish there was a way for multiple "presets" on fumes for the customization module, or even a tune sharing platform for us to use and share our tunes with each other. Other than that, the app does everything you think it would, with no issues. Also, the new UI is great.
This totally transformed my 535i. The only thing I didn't like about my car when I bought it was how slow it shifted. It was comfortable, but not 'sporty'. Once I read about this app, I had to try it. So glad I did. Using stage 3 setup, in 'sport', the transmission shifts so quick, and at the right point. In regular 'drive', you still get a comfortable cruise setup. Makes a world of difference!
The software works great, but getting it to connect to my e90 BMW 335i has been a total nightmare, despite using a a quality Bimmergeeks cable. After months of trying I changed the OTG adapter and was able to connect right away and flash the car. Two days later, I tried to connect again to make some adjustments, but cannot connect. I'm wondering if it's now due to an app update which xHP made during that time. MHD connects with no problem using the same cable and OTG adapter(s).
Wanted to write a quick review on Stage 3 I have a 2013 335I drive with a JB 4 on stage 1. The transmission always felt like it wasn't matched to the car. Hard to describe it, it just felt off. Plus the kick down was terrible. I was very hesitant to install stage 3 because I drive this car for work and sometimes with clients in it. I couldn't have some boy racer hard shifting transmission. I went with stage 3 on a hope. Turns out its amazing, in daily driving in D, no one would ever guess this trans has been tuned. Even at full throttle upshifts in D, they are smooth and very quick. No jolt, no hard shift, nothing. It shifts exactly how it should have from the factory. M mode is incredible. It's like driving a stick, shifts are fast and smooth, and most importantly, they are done when you click the paddle. Haven't messed with S mode yet. Simply put, this is the best 200ish dollars I have spent on the car. I used an Amazon Fire HD tablet, and a 18 dollar cable off amazon. I didn't disconnect my JB4. Install was smooth with no problems. To anyone on the fence, buy it. It's worth it.
Works well, very fast with MHD ENET adapter, initial flash only took about 5 min. Still playing with settings, really hope that we'll get torque reduction request settings for the 8 speed soon. I'd like more torque reduction for faster shifts. Ideally, I want it to shift fast anytime it's in M mode, regardless of EDC setting. It would also be nice to speed up response time to downshifts, it still takes almost a second to downshift from the point of pulling the paddle.
One word. "Just friggen incredible"! So, this app is so far off the chain, I had to send a search party to find it. From the "Better Than Stock", Buttery smooth shifts around town. To the neck snapping, redline approaching, split second upshifts. This transmission tuner app is even more jaw dropping when paired with MHD tuner app are a match made in tuner heaven. Clean. No reliability issues. It just works
Overall, a solid upgrade for the E70 X5M platform. Love the ability to tweak shift points, remove the stupid lugging in 6th gear in auto, and to be able to bump the line pressure. What's seriously missing though is the ability to change the paddle shift speeds and ability to rev match or blip throttle while in auto, and not sport mode. Fix that and it's 5 stars, worth every cent.
The flash tool does exactly what it claims to do. Excellent addition to anyone that has a car with the transmissions they support. The installation is easy and the settings all make sense. It vastly improved my zf8 in the m240. Now what is absolutely mind blowing is the customer support. Every time I messaged them they went above and beyond to answer my questions and actually provided me with clear answers. The feature I ended up using the most was fast shifting with dsc off and manual blips
Amazing application, turned my 435i into a beast. I have the pure turbo setup on my N55 435i, and I noticed an immediate difference in power and performance when installing this xHP transmission flash. Shifts are more aggressive, and the extra power doesn't feel like it's taking a toll on the transmission. With the stock software, I felt like the transmission was having trouble putting down the power, but now with xHP it feels so much better. Highly recommend installing this!
Well worth it. My X5 35D using Stage 2 now feels like a BMW. I learned three important lessons using the App and the Maps. One, read and follow the instructions exactly as written; don't take shortcuts. Two, if you have an aftermarket Android Nav system with USB installed in the dash as an upgrade to the iDrive system, DO NOT use that device to flash the car (it can be used to make a back-up and read error codes but it cannot flash). Three, use a relatively new, stable Android device running OS-5 as a minimum.
Tried using an Lg tablet but could not keep a connection with the car. Switched to my samsung phone and had no issues. Was able to flash the transmission with the stage three map and all has been good. Veey happy with the way the car shifts now. Definately recommend this to anyone looking to change the way the transmission shifts.
Used to be a good flashing program. But more and more issues with each update. Then another update to fix those, but the cycle keeps going. Issues with device compatibility has grown as well. This app has been out since 2017 was rock solid, should not be having these issues. Updated 9-20, gave 1 star back, I see they are trying and are good about replying to email and Messages. Still very frustrating to update and not be able to flash when there was no issue before. Test before release, please.
Probably the most important modification you can do to the car, It transformed the entire driveing experience , Doesn't matter if you are stocks or highly modified it's a must!, Changes are lightning-quick(most people think it's a DSG) response so is much more intuitive and changes up and changes down when necessary far better than any car I've ever driven, rev matched downshifts are perfect. An absolutely amazing product would give it 6 stars if I could
Worth the money, smoother daily driver, and puts the power down with over 650 whp
The tune itself works great on my 335is DCT 7-speed; however, the app doesn't retain my car information and current tune. Also I am unable to see adaptation values for my 7-speed. It is also difficult to connect to my mhd wifi adapter even with following the instructions xHP provides. The descriptions of custom settings are a little difficult to understand. More information is needed on how the settings should be manipulated. The app is a cumbersome to use. Streamlining connecting will help
This has transformed my car into a real driver oriented machine now. So much more control through the use of engine braking and whatnot as the gear changes are so lightning quick and the rev matching goes a lot higher than the stock BMW does so very helpful when downshifting for bends etc. it's shaved almost half of second of my quarter mile times which is crazy.. In D its like any normal auto but slide it over to S and HOLD ON! A must have for any zf box. can't speak highly enough of it
Have not seen any significant gains, especially considering the price. if anything, the transmission shifts harder now. also, transmission kicks back sometimes. Mhd was of significantly better value :( I will update this when I have the time to research this and program the car correctly, but my initial estimate is that this is not an out of the box solution, and unless you can devote the time to learn the software to a high degree, then it's not for you
Powerful Improvement and Wonderful Customer Service! I have had some issues not related to the transmission and the customer support really helped me out with my N54. They went above and beyond. The software flash is smooth and easy to do. The options are fun to play with. My car feels like a different machine. Special thanks to Semin!
Maps are good. Customer service and support is very poor. I have spent a lot of money with XHP over the years and the very few occasions I have needed assistance I have been met with very rude and arrogant responses. It's quite clear to me their primary focus is on collecting money for their services rather than focusing on customer service. If i could give less than 1 star I would. I'd highly suggest to anybody in a professional capacity to seek an alternative to XHP.
The team were really helpful in getting my car connected. And it's very easy to flash tune using the app with lots of options. Very smooth and snappy transmission now!
