Here's what's in this free app: no ads, dark mode, very fast loading, intuitive controls, solid search, useful options with no unnecessary bloat...this is a case study in excellent app design. Sure, it's a simple task, but it does its humble job flawlessly and that's surprisingly hard to find. Well done, author - keep up the good work! Maybe give some pointers to the companies spending millions to make much shittier apps.
Update: the developer fixed the bug I mentioned and informed me of the jump to latest function, bumped to 5 stars. Original: Excellent app, simple & easy to use. No ads is really nice, and everything is organized perfectly. Just two things that drop it to 4 stars: there's no "jump to latest" button as far as I can tell, and comic #1335 (Now) is missing its preview, and it crashes when I tap on it to look at the moving version. Just two minor nitpicks, everything else is fantastic.
Best one so far, but still lots of room for improvement. Can't favorite what ifs, viewing graphic text requires long-press instead of just tapping (not only more annoying but also makes it easier to miss that they even exist; I was halfway through in another app before realizing that tapping the numbers & images showed extra text, & I may never have figured it out with this app), stuck on offline download with 1 left, if accidentally jump to random one can't go back, & explain should be a button
Have used the app for 15 minutey, already absolutely love the it. I will change to 5 stars as soon as there is a random button (shaking is very akward). Another idea: dark mode for comics as well: map the white background to dark grey and the black to light gray (not just invert the comics). Also I am missing an option to download all comics for offline access. Edit: maybe move the date to the middle and put a shuffle button to the left to keep the symmetry. Otherwise fair point.
Easy recommendation This app is smooth, has no ads (I haven't seen any), intuitive and is an overall amazing package. Only request I have of the developer is to allow an offline mode. Great job! Edit: Thank you for the offline mode! This fixes everything 🤞
Great App really amazing! It does everything you could wish for, looks organized and clean with a lot of customizability. This is the best xkcd/"what if" viewer i have found thus far.
This app is better than it has any right to be! Incomparable (because of how much better it is) to its alternatives. Everything is perfect. I especially love that the dates use the xkcd typeface. Congrats!
Clean app and easy to use. But wish the developer adds a way to sort the comics from newest to oldest and scroll through it fast without loading the images
This is the best xkcd viewer by far! Clean design, simple features, all in one! On top of that, no ads or in-app purchases! Thanks to the developer!
App is well-made and didn't take up a gigabyte of storage to install. The explainxkcd integration is a nice touch. Overall a very good way to read xkcd on mobile.
Looks great, and the ExplainXKCD integration is seemless. I especially like the variety of favorites lists.
Probably the best xkcd app out there! Follows contemporary design trends, has a host of options, and is light weight and fast.
Shows the explanation in the same app, no webview, very good!
I couldn't enlarge the images (poor eyesight ) the effort to create this non commercial app however is appreciated.
At least give me the option of turning off notifications instead of forcing me to do it via the OS.
Best one I've found. It supports the large xkcds unlike other apps.
Functional enough, but the font choice makes it unusable on it's own imo
Add a dedicated button for random instead of shaking the phone like an idiot if you only want to see randoms
Easily the best browser of the best web-comic ever!
better than mobile web variant
Xkcd-ifying
EDIT: Immersive xkcd reader app with lots of interesting features which, taken as an individual technical achievement, is exceptional. However my personal use-case is that I just want to see the latest comic and then be shown a random selection of comics when I'm waiting for a bus or on the loo, therefore the lack of a "random" button is a problem for me (shaking is a cool function, but awkward in practice). I suspect this may be an issue for other users too, hence this review and feedback.
