XSection

Master different methods and solve puzzles.

* More than 100 tasks: from basics to challenges
* 11 chapters to explore
* Built-in glossary with geometric terms
* Step-by-step instructions
* Easy to use

XSection is a trainer of solid geometry problem solving. It teaches you how to perceive 2D representation of polyhedra, lines, and planes from 3D Euclidean space. All the problems can be solved without complex calculations. The app contains the required theory facts and explanations. If you forgot a definition, you can instantly find it in the app’s glossary.

XSection is a perfect way for students to practice before tests or exams and to improve your spatial imagination. The app will not allow you to create an impossible object: for example, to "intersect" skew lines (which is a typical error when constructing cross sections on paper).

The best way to learn to solve math problems is to solve them a lot.

Main topics:
- Prisms, cubes, parallelepipeds, and cuboids
- Pyramids and tetrahedrons
- Diagonals of polyhedrons
- Cross sections
- Diagonal sections
- Parallel and central projections
- Method of traces
- Method of inner projection

XSection follows Euclidea - Pythagorea - Pythagorea 60° series of our geometric games. With these apps you can become a real Geometry Guru!

Starting from the 8th chapter levels are unlocked at 4-hours interval. But you can buy an IAP that removes this restriction.

Smart and fun. Steady progression for each level, meaning you know how to solve complex levels thanks to previous ones. Instructions are often repetitive, but still stimulating. 3/4 thru the game, there's an intelligent prompt to pay for full version: wait four hours per levels... You can pay, or you can wait.

Probably the best geometry app I've played. Unfortunately, it's impossible to play right at the moment you've become addicted to it. And due to my country situation we have no options to pay for the full version. Unless there's no alternative ways to pay for it, I can only rate the amount of levels I've played. So 2/5 until further progress.

Five stars not because it's perfect but because I learned about solid geometry and solving solid geometry challenges through these exercises, and enjoyed it along the way. A bit like another reviewer, I got a little ways in and then, starting to get a feel for it, I went back to the start and the concepts (particularly using traces to extrapolate intersections of planes with solids, but not only that) really clicked. Genuinely fun and substantial learning.

Great game! Except... The 4 hour wait time in between levels for the later chapters is awful! Many times I'd solve the level in a matter of minutes (or even less than a minute) to then have to wait another 4 hours! I wouldn't mind an IAP to remove it, but I was never offered one nor could I find one. Eventually, across many days, I finished every level. It's kind of a shame it doesn't have achievements. Strictly speaking of gameplay, a way of erasing lines would be great.

My favorite of all the euclidea apps, my only gripe is that the difficulty of the levels doesn't always increase so that at certain points in the game you wait four hours for a level that takes 30 seconds to solve. I don't mind waiting since it's free and it stops me from getting too addicted but there should be a reasonable payoff. I also think no rotation is fine, it's frustrating but adds to the mental challenge. Also, there aren't a ton of levels.

Another good brain exerciser. It would be nice to be able to rotate the space, to better study it. I think it would improve learning. If it is intended that part of the challenge is to imagine the space only from the 2D protection I can understand that; if that's the case then perhaps rotation could be enabled only after solving a level? BTW, I felt the price is very reasonable and was happy to pay, but four hours does seem a little excessive for those who will probably never pay.

If you're trying to do what the app instructs, but you don't understand what a word (like skew) means, then it seems at first that there is no way to proceed. At least in the tutorial part, the app needs to call attention to where the glossery is located. Better yet, if it detects some extended failed attempts, then it should automatically offer a hint.

Great follow up to euclidia, with a few drawbacks. The screen can get really messy at times making it difficult to control accurately, made worse by the fact that each level can only be viewed from the given angle. Without being able to rotate the shape at all things get crowded and confusing especially on harder levels. Additionally some of the level requirements are vague or ambiguous making it potentially impossible to pass a given level.

Some of the difficulty seems to rely on the chosen view causing lines to coincide when they are not actually parallel in 3-space, which seems kind of a cheap trick in an otherwise excellent game. This might also explain why you can't rotate the view. I was hoping for some kind of acknowledgement for completing all of the levels, maybe a bonus puzzle or something, but I guess self-congratulation for being clever will have to do.

Very good work, brilliant really. I would have given it "5" STARS, but for waiting whole 4 hours to carry on higher levels. I know it is still better than nothing for the free version, but too long that many would leave the game time after time. Would be great if you consider rotation of the body, and also find a way to snap the intersection of two lines, sometimes the screen is congested a bit.

This is an interesting concept, but the execution is lacking. The geometry concepts are mostly well taught, excepting traces and interior projection. The 3D models can't be rotated, which often makes it difficult to visualise which lines and planes are intersecting or parallel. The later stages are locked behind a timer, which seems to be because there is no difficulty curve to speak of.

Very challenging game. If you like analytic geometry, you'll enjoy this game. Would only recommend two improvements: When drawing a line while zoomed in, it would be nice to have the UI slide when you get to the edge of the screen. Also, a 3D rotation would really help on the two or three levels where lines appear parallel due to the projection.

Amazing game for self-discovery of geometric relationships and training spatial reasoning. I came back to this game after getting frustrated after a while initially, started from the beginning again, and then things started clicking (definitely use the glossary). I'm getting to the end, and have had to really work at discovering certain geometric relationships, but I feel like I understand things that I don't think I would ever have learned in a traditional way.

Wonderful little game! I found this very fun. Really makes you think. But the controls that work well, no ads, and the simple design without time pressure make it relaxing at the same time. Note that later on in the levels, they use "intersection of sections" to mean what I would have called "intersection of section planes" based on the other definitions they give. There was one level in particular where this confused me.

Кон. И. Sep 24, 2019

Several of the level descriptions could be at least a bit clearer, and some are outright wrong - e.g. level 9.5, where the word "perpendicular" apparently gains a new meaning. Interface could also be a bit more precise and responsive, but it definitely hasn't been a major issue so far. The last few levels I payed (around 9. Riemann) felt especially rushed - weird choice of projection and/or angles, making it necessary to constantly zoom in and out.

It is a hard one to rate. I enjoyed it as a fun math puzzle. It was fairly simple, only the last section was somewhat challenging to me, but that will vary depending on player's spatial imagination. And I say imagination because I didn't find any way to rotate the puzzles. A shame, although it adds to the challenge. I find the 4 hour wait for new level in free version annoying but I respect it as a way to incentivize purchase.

This game used to be amazing! I enjoyed the idea and puzzle so much and got into a very good rhythm. It didn't distract me during social stuff so i could continue playing no matter what, a perfect game for everyone... Oh but then a feature suddenly appeared where you have to wait FOUR HOURS between levels for what i can only assume is to slow you down to not reach the end so levels can be added to keep you playing. It interrupts your thought process with such an awkward amount of time!

Dev. S. Feb 18, 2020

Pretty neat, very mind boggling. There was only one level that I couldn't beat on my own. 10.6 is needlessly harder than all the rest and uses some concepts that aren't in other problems in order to solve. But otherwise, if you're willing to wait you can beat every level without paying anything. I wish there was some comemoration for beating all levels. Unless you guys keep adding new ones. Sometimes the lines are sort of hard to pick up and place though.

Ale. G. Oct 14, 2019

Good game just like their other two, but the descriptions remain somewhat cryptic. A lot of the time they just aren't terribly clear either by using terms that hadn't been described before (skew), lack of punctuation in places that would benefit from it, or just by being vague. The lack of a glossary baffles me, but the hint system is nice.

Har. K. Sep 29, 2021

This is a fantastic game for the geometrically-inclined. The UI is a bit weird to get used to: it is often difficult to see where your lines are going in the mess of lines you're drawing onto the object. One of the other reviewers here that suggested being able to rotate the shape so we can see where our lines are going; if not rotating, perhaps some sort of color gradient so we see how far/close our lines are from the camera. I would recommend playing this on a tablet with a pen. Great game.

Dav. H. Jan 17, 2020

Fantastic. The Play Store listing says "has in-app purchases", and right now I'm honestly looking for where those are so I can give the developer money. (Aha, found it. Starting with chapter 8, each problem has a 4-hour delay, counting from when you finish the previous problem. Tap on the displayed countdown to be offered to bypass this and all future delays for a one-time fee of about $2.)

It'. J. Sep 2, 2019

Overall fun, but what really irked me was that they removed the hint button later in the game. The hint button is especially crucial in the later stages because that is when the players are probably going to need more help understanding how to play the game correctly, as it gets more confusing. I think one or two levels are also bugged, or at least very particular about the correct answer.

Ant. V. Feb 5, 2020

Great game but after like a few dozen levels there is a 4 hour wait time between. every. level. Not every chapter; every level. This is extremely annoying because some levels can be literally solved in seconds. The only way to circumvent the wait time is to pay $2 to unlock the rest of the game. It honestly would be better if it was just a pay wall and not this pay or wait system.

Fir. d. Sep 9, 2019

this is a pretty challenging puzzle at time but it would be nice if you could erase lines without having to erase one you've already made after that line (would help a lot to keep some of the more complex puzzles from getting to cluttered). was curiuos if any one else had problems on 9.5. I keep solving it and still wont get a star or the prompt to return to the galtery.

Nic. B. Jan 18, 2020

I'm very early in the game but the wording of the app has been quite frusrsting. There has been a few times I got stuck because the game either asked me to complete a task in a strange way or didn't explain the concept well enough for them to be clear. I was just stuck on a cross section because the game wanted me to create a cross section of a cube and gave me 3 points. So I did it. The level didn't clear though, because the game wanted 4 points, but it never asked for it or explained why.

Cal. H. May 9, 2020

Fantastic game. As wonderful as Euclidea and Pythagorea in challenge level and app presentation, and three-dimensional. I paid the two bucks to unlock all the levels in a heartbeat. So, why 4 stars and not 5? I can't label my lines, nor can I erase lines that I don't need anymore. That makes it *really* hard to navigate what I'm looking at, and severely mars an otherwise very-top-shelf game for math geeks. The ability to erase lines and to label lines would change my rating from 4 to 5 easily.

Dar. S. Feb 15, 2020

Great interactive set of solid geometry problems. It would be worth 6 star if only for single axis rotation (yaw). On the bright side, this way is more challenging, as one has to remember which line lies on wich plane. 4 hour restriction kicks in quite late in the game, and to be honest, small price for unlocking all the levels is worth it.

cool and all. had a few moments where I found the wording hard to get. . I dislike the GUI animations. better off. .also the magnet feature is a bit annoying with close points. that could be improved. if I attempt to move pass something once. turn the magnet the second time off. .I'd rather delete. clean stuff on the screen more than undo. but having both features would be nice. or another cleanup feature
