Xternal Display for Droid X

I love this. It displays what's on your phone to the tv. Does its job very well. There's only 2 things I can say bad about it and thats the phone doesn't display horizontally sometimes so on your tv you see the home screen sideways lol. Also, you can't see the phones screen while you use it. Not really a problem but makes it hard to text lol. I highly recommend it if you have a DROID x.

Just put this on my droid x when I saw the price of RealHDMI. Does the same thing, works great. Screen does lock up when you output to HDMI, but that is limitation of the hardware, not a software problem. Haven't found a full screen option, but I haven't looked too hard. Also, might be helpful if the frozen screen on the phone at least had a grid (like the borders for home screen buttons. It would at least give you an idea of where on the screen you need to push) Great app, keep up the good work.

Yes the phone screen freezes BUT it still works as the dev stated. You people need to learn to read 1st. SMH. Our DX has hardware limitations - this app does all that Motorola's hardware can do on this device.

Amazing app! Extremely grateful to developer. As for those of you complaining of the screen not being full size see if your tv has a zoom mode. On my 42" LG plasma its marked Cinema Zoom and works perfectly at the 16 zoom EDIT: Adding options for turning on and off the hemisphere with gestures wouldn't hurt.

I'll give this app 5 stars because it does what it advertises - enables HDMI for most things. HOWEVER - don't expect the full HD experience from your phone. The whole purpose of my wanting to enable HDMI-out was to get better video quality on Netflix. I currently stream Netflix on my Wii, connected to my TV via composite video cable. (For those who don't know, a composite connection is the worst possible connection you can use on a TV... it does not even allow 640x480 standard def, let alone 720p or 1080p) The video quality via Wii/Composite is much better than the video quality via Droid-X/HDMI. The Droid introduces far too many mpeg artifacts in the video for it to look really good. The video quality isn't much better when you play video files via the gallery using the Droid's built-in HDMI software, so I'm guessing this is a hardware limitation. The point is, don't expect a home theater in your pocket. It is, however, useful for when you have a cheap HDMI cable and want to present something to a large number of people.

I first tried the app called realhdmi for $4 and was very disappointed that it was blocked from output in the nfl app. I almost gave up and figured the nfl app would block all of these hdmi out apps. I decided to try this one since it was free and too my amazement it works perfectly! And it is free! I would gladly have paid money for this app. Thank you dev!

Wonderful app. If only I had this sooner. Works beautifully. Only downside id like to see fixed is when connected to the normal home screen its displayed sideways but that's not much of a big deal

I was able to launch Netflix on my Droid X running 2.2.1 and Xternal Display worked fine. But when I started a video Xternal Display just shut down when the video started playing.

Love this app but sound won't come through tv comes through phone may be because I'm running boosted ics

If ignorant people would just read app details they would know the frozen screen is a DroidX hardware issue and the app developers' hands are tied.

Doesn't work at all. As soon as I hit play it stops showing on the TV and goes back to the phone display.

Random pausing then phone froze. Do not download. Will mess up your phone had to do hard reset. Brand new droidx was first download.Remove from market

This app is exactly what I was looking for... and it's free. It's nothing fancy, but then again I don't want fancy, I want something that works. Thank you for making a simple solution to the DroidX problem! P.S. - I use this with a Bluetooth mouse and it's excellent

I would love to check this app out but cannot get it to download. Fails every time with an error saying "Missing Shared Library". Don't know if it is something since the new IceCream Sandwich update. frustrated.

Great app. Only downside is device display only works on tv and not device when in use but if you put icons on easy place navigation isn't too bad.

app does what it says.. no problem except not being able to see what u touch on the screen but its not the app that's the droid xs system

People complaining about the dx screen. That's a Motorola hardware problem not this app. Dx can't do duel screens

Works great just like it should. But it seems like hulu caught on, or at least has a block on it now :/ & thats all that I watch any more.

Works as advertised on Droid Bionic. Throws an error when toggling on, but this doesn't seem to affect anything.

I just got an HDMI cable and this app works awesome. major thing keeping it from having 5 stars is that its not in sync with my phone when I use it.

I ran the app in the background, pulled up Netflix, and connected the HDMI cable 3 times. My phone froze and played nothing on the TV. useless.

Was able to watch a rented movie from my phone on my hd tv. No problems. The touch screen on the phone still works, just shows on the tv screen.

This app helped me watch the monday night game from NFL Mobile app that Verizon doesn't allow you to natively watch from hdmi out. Awesome! Thanks

Works good on my DROIDX however you have to guess the buttons to press and some apps don't come with options to rotate screen so you are stuck with side views on some apps.

I use it on mine and have no problems.

I love this app!! Just got done watching netflix awesome...I could even text while using this app bit tricky but still was able to.

The best made simple. Just press the icon & plug it into the TV. Thats it. Best app & most used. I wish I could get it for all my tablets too.
