I really wanted to love this app. I work in a prison where I cannot have my cell phone and need an app to receive texts from my phone on the computer. Yappy worked for a half an hour or so, and then it stopped sending and receiving messages. I'm having similar experiences with every app I try, so perhaps it's a firewall issue or something, I'm just not sure. Really liked the interface and viewing options.
Used Yappy for a long time and was happy with it. Got grandfather'd into some great pricing for the Premium version which I'm reluctant to ever get rid of but it has been several months without an update and - like other users have mentioned - it seems the dev doesn't care to fix the big problems like messages getting hung up in Sending, or the super annoying pop-up error message on both the Web portal and app. Devs: come back and fix this app. It desperately needs it!
App was promising, but will not work on my phone. The app can't sync my SMS when my screen is off (which completely defeats the purpose of this app). It have tried several things to fix this, with no luck. Desktop app also doesn't work (it won't even start). Even the dev won't respond to my inquiries...
I really like the functionality. It works very well 95% of the time which is enough for me. One issue is that, occasionally, a message won't send for a while. But it eventually does send.
I use this for texting from my PC. It has worked FLAWLESSLY in my two weeks with it. This works incredibly well compared to my last app for this: Mighty Text pro.
Hated it because when attempting to install the app it never got past the initial setup and stayed frozen on installing the initial setup for hours and never set up in the end
for my requirements. Really happy about it. compared to other apps, it has no message restrictions :D
Didn't work anymore like it used to (sends messages randomly hours later) and drains my battery
The worst app ever produce and tested on Google play store. .wasting more than 24hrs trying to get information from my phone but fails woeful
Yappy app works better than other apps i have ever used before and gives us more facilities
1) Constant error on website the past few months so no usage at all. 2) I get messages frequently not being sent for hours, and then randomly sending at weird unpredictable times, not at all a reliable service anymore. I have contacted support multiple times about both problems, and zero reply. Yappy WAS amazing, it was a major productivity boost. I think my old first review was 5 stars. I was about to purchase the full the pro package because it is so flexible and has totally changed the way I work with my PC and phone. Unfortunately the past 2 or so months service has been so inconsistent and just not available that I am happy I did not spend money on the system and I have to look for an alternative now. Down to 1 star now. :(
The core functionality of Yappy is good and appears solid so far. The biggest benefit over MightyText is that is has a lifetime subscription option (instead of paying month-to-month). The web interface is good, providing both single message view as well as multi-conversation view. The theme options are pretty bad, leaving the "Material Design" options as the best. Definitely more work can be done there. I never got the Windows application (exe) to work. I installed it on two different Windows 10 workstations (both running 1703), and though the application installed successfully, and task manager said it was running, there was no GUI visible and no new icons in the system tray. Not sure what I was expecting but it was something visible and usable, which it's not. Fortunatley the web interface is good enough for now.
Yappy has been stable and works well. Sometimes I have a reply that gets stuck - never syncs. But otherwise it's convenient, and much more stable than Android Messages. Request: Option to Turn on Ping Mode while charging.
I was never was able to use it. It was struck waiting to automatically read a message to verify my number. I received the message, but there was no way to let me manually input the code. I guess the developer was overconfident in assuming the code could be read automatically. I guess that the app would be equally unreliable as its verification process.
well wanted to install it on my new device but don't receive the verification sms. System is broken and I have even a subscription
Please remove persistent icon!!!! It is so good. But god i hate extra icons that are not needed. --Edited -- Persistant icon now gone! Yay. Upgraded to 5stars. Does exactly as intended. Love not having to touch my phone to reply to text messages. Recommended over many of its competitors. --Edit 2 -- app consistantly giving a Web 'Error' when trying to use. Tried contacting devs with no reply.
Easy to install and worked well. Userfriendly. I'm happy Ican use my android with my MacBook like iphone users have for years.
Even though the update text for version 3.1.4 says a persistent notification was removed, version 3.1.4 creates a persistent notification that can't be dismissed and doesn't do anything, even when the persistent notification checkbox for Yap Mode is unchecked.

Needs all permissions to run - why does it to manage and access media and phone calls when all i need from it is to send a text msg and view txts too. Seriously???

Put a persistent notification up.... I didn't even use this app anymore and forgot I had it installed, definitely found it wasn't even nearly as good as Pulse SMS (which I highly recommend) so I appreciate the reminder to uninstall this app.
I switched to this from mightytext after they reduced the cap on texts again... it worked great for the first week... now none of my texts send or receive. I made sure the sync settings were on and even set yap mode to always on so it w9uld constantly sync. Nothing. Seems less useful than mightytext. At least that app sends and receives consistently.
This is the best free app of its kind that I have tried. Users of MightyText who are frustrated with its ever-shrinking free tier and ridiculous monthly subscription prices will find this app a good alternative. There are still a few bugs, but the general sending and receiving of SMS has been good. Bugs I'm seeing: 1) Whenever I receive a MMS, I get multiple copies of the same picture in the Yappy web app. 2) I use Firefox 58, and it won't allow me to install Yappy's extension because it's unsigned. That's a pretty simple thing that needs to be fixed.
Yappy is extremely simple and easy to use. The Chrome extension works well and texts get delivered right away when using the web interface. The only problem I've had is that if someone ends me a picture, it displays multiple times in the web version, but not in your actual SMS app on your phone, which is good. I also think Yappy could use a little facelift to make it feel more new and clean. Other than that, I think it's better than any other text from PC app out there.
