The design is very sleek and the exercises are good for practicing writing, speaking and translation. I like the app a lot and hope it keeps developing. The two reasons I stopped using it frequently are that my main language, Finnish, doesn't have enough users and the feedback from users is sometimes incorrect. Less of an issue is that some of the translation sentences or exercises make no sense. They seem to be poor translations. Luckily, I can choose exercises.
Works really well for getting feedback on sentences in your target language! You get prompt corrections to make you sound natural. The XP system works pretty well, but it's a little frustrating at the beginning when you aren't at a high enough level to correct other people's sentences.
Thanks for updating w/support for nonbinary users! I think it's still fine to include translation exercises involving gender. Although I don't use binary pronouns, most people I know do. I still need to know how to talk about them in my target language. 1st impression of Yask is good. Seems like Yask has more free content than many similar apps. Structuring it so you must help other users to advance is clever. I do wish I could edit my corrections, I've already hit the wrong button a few times.
This app is fun. You need to work hard at helping others which is nice. I'm giving it 4 stars because I think there is room for improvement. I think you guys can allow for talking more because we learn faster when we speak more. Texting and translating isn't the most effective way to learn a language. I hope that you will make it possible to add this feature from the very outset and as the most important feature
I see where they're going with this app, but it needs work. I like the concept of user corrections, but a lot of the exercises don't make sense in English. ("What is the special power of the fighter s?" or "Why are boxers good for you?") Hopefully in time, and with more development, this app will be really helpful.
Normally I don't leave reviews for the sake of privacy but I have used many language learning apps but when I crossed paths with Yask, I was blown away! There is a scientific (AI) approach & an innovative concept to it. I'm glad the main focus of this app is for learners to focus solely on learning & not used as a social media chat forum. You're comfortable to make errors & you get to help others. The devs work assiduously behind the scene to perfect the app. I highly recommend this app!
An effective platform to learn new languages! You will get instant feedback from native speakers to correct your words or pronunciations. The app itself provide practices to help you progressing from the very beginning. Definitely recommended 🤗!!
From what I've seen on another review it's been a year and Japanese, Korean and Chinese have yet to be added as options for this app. I'm uninstalling but will gladly pick up this app again and change my review once these major Asian languages are added.
Great app, the only thing missing is more users. I enjoy using the app but have not gotten any feedback from other users on the sentences that I have submitted. I hope more users will join. A good feature of the app is the amount of languages offered.
App fixed, now its unlike anything!! I've tried Memrise, Duolingo, about 5 chatting apps (Tandem, Speaky, HelloPal...) and none of them are as good as this. I enjoy the pronuncation exercises the most because You just talk and random people tell You if it sounds good and they record themselves if You sound wrong :)
I LOVE this app. It is helping me so much with my Russian output (writing, speaking skills). Even my Italian is getting some practice.
I love this application, it's dynamic and very practical. I have improved my vocabulary and thanks to that, my progress has been remarkable.
As a person who is studying Korean and revising Hindi, I found it irksome that although the application let me select Korean as one of the languages I know, it did not let me practice it.
Really, it is a fantastic concept, the only issue is that there are, to my knowledge, not very many people using it, so opinions are sparse. I do reccomend.
Very useful and simple to use app. It really helps you improve whatever language you are learning
interesting language learning app. the more I do and help others, the more I get to find new ways to use it!
It's a new experience to practice languages in different mode . I like this application and i hope there will be more to catch .
I wanted to practice PRONUNCIATION.....But App makes one spend hours translating and writting sentences... SO BORING... Why don't you say so in the description.... " YOU HAVE TO SPEND HOURS ...PROBABLY DAYS ...before App grants you the privilege to practice pronuntiation"... SAY IT AS IT IS...!!!!
Great app. Allows writing to be corrected without having to make small talk.
Only a few language available. Also no way to search and message anyone or chat to anyone
I think that should be an expert team to check the grammar, prounounciation, etc wich is neutral
Yask has created a new way of learning a language. I'm very thankful for such an incredible app.
This app is awesome. It gets me to give output in my target language everyday.
This is a good application. Which helps me to improve my communication and to enjoy meeting new people.
Good app for helping Iranian kids cheat on their English homework for free.
I don't like how you have to be a specific level to ask questions or hear how to pronounce it, sorry i'm just trying to learn different languages
Superb app gr8 experience I'd say it's helpful for my grammar
Pretty nice app. Needs more active users I think.
Once you make an account you cant delete it, I already emailed them about as well.
Hey yask team. I've been using your app for a few days now and have around 200xp. Recently the "help other learners" section have started to act up and most of the time does not load at all. Maybe there is some hidden limiting factor that I'm not aware of on your side or something else i can only guess. I've tried reinstalling the app and changing my ip several times but that was useless. It would be amazing if the app told you what the actual issue is instead of an infinite loading animation.
