YNAB

Started with YNAB classic 7 years ago and have been reluctant to change to nYNAB. The Classic app recently stopped working on my device so had to give nYNAB a go. I wish I changed sooner. The budgeting concepts are largely the same and any changes are frankly an improvement. The web app and mobile app are a joy to use. Sure, I was a little salty that they moved to a subscription-based model but now I'm here I see that what you get for the price is worth it.

Great app, makes budgeting fun but price isn't justifiable since there are other free alternatives that do the same thing and more. I had issues with the sync, my balance was always off after it would sync. People seem to be having issues using the sync function with BMO and this app. I would've recommended it to friends but I know no one would be willing to pay the price for this app.

Loved the program, but over the year it has lost its roots. But it was still worth the $45 I paid. They removed their pricing commitments to the early adaptors that made it the success it is now. With all the price hikes the last few years and now $100 a year for all users... yet the sync still is flakey... I exported my data and called it quits.

I use ynab a lot and it's been super helpful. I love it! I went with 4 stars just because there are some technical glitches sometimes that can be pretty irritating. Oh well, none have been catastrophic it's still well worth it. And integrating with everyone's random bank is a hard problem, it must be an endless climb for the tech team ⛰

This app is great. The visibility into the reality of your money and spending is invaluable. No more la-la-land I have a credit card so I have infinite money. Nope. I love the control this app empowers you with by illuminating your spending. If you're worried about the effort of upkeeping useful data, I wouldn't, the big push is setting everything up at the start (which is neither easy nor too hard) and categorizing your first month or two of expenditures. After that it's smooth sailing.

I've noticed some reviewers mention problems with sync, which I think is worth noting that it's actually the banks that cause this. The APIs used mean 3rd parties like YNAB benefit from access to data the bank feels it owns, so they want you to use the banks systems. Generally I'll say that YNAB is everything I want from a budgeting tool. It's easy, reliable and is improving all the time. No other app does it as well as this one. I've tried literally dozens of free ones, it's worth the cost.

Overall, absolutely fantastic. Spending target functionality needs some attention. Example: Bill is auto-paid in the first week of every month. Target will always say "You've reached your target!", because the month started with the target met. No option exists to make the target reset after the bill is paid, so if you aren't watching closely, you'll suddenly have an orange target and one week to meet it at the beginning of next month. Many users have been requesting a fix for this behavior, but thus far it's been ignored.

Been using YNAB for the last several years. I went from being out of money before my next pay check to actually starting to build up several savings categories for long term goals. I love all of the different options and just having the visual aid of turning categories green to make sure I have them taken care of well before they come due. There are so many things I like about this app, but there are not enough character limits to write them all.

YNAB literally changed my life. I've never been able to budget before this, having tried many different ways of doing so, and I used to be afraid to look at my bank balance. Now I hardly need to look at my bank at all, because my budget keeps everything perfectly organized and transparent. I've been able to pay off debts, save money, and stay on top of all my recurring fees. It's been seriously lifesaving

there is 100% a learning curve for YNAB from other budgeting tools, (and it's more expensive) but I LOVE this software. Pro Tip: It's way easier to learn how to use it on a desktop first, then move to the mobile app. They have a ton of tips and tricks and how-to videos and they're super helpful. I LOVE this app and recommend it to everyone who wants to learn how to budget in a healthy/fun way

Adding your expenses is easy enough. But that is as far as I got. When I tried to link my accounts, it kept saying "ynab" links are blocked" in the web browser the app opens to sign in to your bank. I've heard great things about this app, but I don't have time to mess around with a broken app that costs almost $100/year.

This is the first budgeting app that I can actually keep up with assigning my spending. I would always make a plan for the month and then it was such a chore to figure out how much I had left in a category. I love assigning the money as you receive it. I watched a bunch of videos before I decided to get YNAB. They were really helpful. Highly recommend.

YNAB is an excellent app for anyone who wants to manage their finances and savings goals. The ability to budget as many months in advance as you want has been a lifesaver for me (I like to know how many months I have covered by the money in my account). Being able to connect to UK bank accounts and credit cards to automatically bring in transactions (an addition that recently brought me back to using this app) makes this into a genuine five star app for me

I've been looking for a budgeting app for a while, and this really fits the bill. In the trial period, I managed to save enough to pay for the yearly subscription, and much more. Tons of resources and videos and help and constantly updated. Its not an expence tracker. It's a philosophy change of looking forward with what you DO have right now. You don't plan for what you don't have yet. I think it's well worth the money, to get yourself sorted out for the long-term!

Love it! I have budgeted my finances for years and tried many apps that did a decent job. Once I got out of debt, I discovered YNAB and my mind was blown at how robust it was. It was a complete game changer for me and my finances. Many years later, I am still a YNABer amd making discoveries to really be the CEO of my finance kingdom. I can't see myself without this program.

Amazing app! Coupled with the web version YNAB is a must have to get and keep yourself out of debt and working towards your goals. The app rarely gives me problems, and when it does, I don't even have to say anything. They know, and they get it fixed asap, within days. Their customer service is always top-notch, as well. You won't regret downloading and learning how to use their zero-based budget!

Phenomenal app. It makes budgeting easier *and* more effective - I feel completely in control of my finances and have easy access to the information I need to make good decisions, much more than with other budgeting decisions I've tried (spreadsheets and Mint). And I love the time-saving features like auto-assign!

I've had this app for many years the price just keeps going up for it. Now every time I open the app I have to relink my bank account all of the transactions get booted out of the categories I have to re-categorize everything takes way too much time and then when I open the app just 2 days later same thing happens again I have to relink my bank account categorize all of my transactions. It does it every single time I open the app. Pure trash

Best budgeting app I've ever used. Takes some time and research to use it properly. Once you get used to it's unorthodox approach, it will easily get you in control of your money. Takes a much more hands-on approach since you have to input all your transactions everyday. It's highly worth it!

Very solid, works well, and has been very helpful and makes me much more conscious about my spending habits. Unfortunately, there's no way to get a total of your monthly expenses that you put in and compare it to you salary - so I have to make the budget in a spreadsheet and then put that into the app. If there was something to help with that, I'd give 5 stars.

Brilliant Android App and it works so well on the PC as well. After spending a fortune on Quicken for at least 15 years, so happy I was referred to YNAB. Highly recommended. The Support is amazing - quick and genuine with real people. Imagine being expected to pay for support at $5/minute at Quicken, after waiting on hold for 30 minutes - crazy stuff!

After trying out nearly every other budgeting app out there, even Dave Ramsey's app, this is by far the best one! if you're serious about budgeting, get this app. But beware that there is a learning curve, so I'd recommend taking the time to go through their online training before getting started. Easily worthy every penny for the subscription!!
