A good app (I use it for piano and guitar), on the paying plan. I've just moved and the Wifi drops very often in my new place and guess what? YOU CAN'T USE THE APP OFFLINE!! So if you're planning on learning in a remote place, let's say campsite, beach house... for example, don't bother downloading. The yearly price is huge enough, so I'm not gonna renew my subscription if an online mode isn't made available by the begining of next year.
Lessons are amazing, you only get 10 minutes a day if you take the non premium version, but that's good enough. Disappointed by the fact that in the free version you get at least four 15 secondes adverts for the premium. We know there a premium version ! 1 advertisement at the end or begging of the free session would be enough. It's quite aggressive marketing.
It's a Great app to learn Guitar. I am an absolute beginner. I took a free trial for one week and I enjoyed it so I took a paid subscription for 1 year. For past 2 years, I have improved a lot and is never a waste of time and money. Basic Music theory is also taught in this app. I even learnt ukulele with the premium+ subscription. Trust me, application is awesome, it's so sensitive in catching the wrong string if we play. So we will get a chance to correct it. Happy Playing !
It's fairly good for what it does. Most of the issues come from the note recognition being really finicky. I will say I don't understand why singing is included in the guitar app, but ukulele is it's own app. I'd figure the uke and guitar should be together, and vocals separate. But that's not a slight against the app set.
I have been using this app for quite a while , so far its been great I got better on the guitar I was a complete beginner , this app with just around 60 or so hour of play is great , knowledge too, I highly recommend the 8 pound a month premium , it applies to your full account not just the app/intrument ie piano and singing. The trainers are great too like the ear training when you can't exactly pull out an intrument on a bus or so, I figured the best time to move a stage up is all gold stars
Could be better. I don't like that lots of stuff are locked and you have to use a free trial to unlock it. Speaking of free trials, I'm unable to purchase a free trial and I face an error saying that Google Play purchases aren't available in my country. Tried clearing Google Play services data and restarting my device, didn't work. And plus, the fees and paywalls are unbelievable! However, I have to give a bit of praise to the UI. It's simple and intuitive.
I've been playing guitar for near a year now, and just started using yousician. It has great courses so I can strengthen the areas that I'm not so great at. The only think that I could think of that would improve the experience is a placement test, only so that those with some experience won't have to navigate through all the mundane lessons that they don't need.
Absolutely terrible. "Beginner or experienced" I tap experienced thinking I could skip the intro, but it didn't, it gave me this tutorial of something that is literally beginner. It gives an option to skip, thankfully. But here's where I have a PROBLEM; as I'm looking for stuff that is not for tyros, EVERYTHING is locked and you have to pay for it. I gave two stars because it's decent in what it is, but it's bad because you can't access any of it, only the intro to things.
Really enjoy the way Yousician teaches you to play guitar. The self-paced lessons are great as I can practice until I am ready for learning the next skill. Yousician is also a lot more interactive than others apps I tried - I can see what notes I am missing real-time. The only downside is that I can't play with distortion on, the app struggles to pick up the notes correctly. This is not a deal-breaker though:-)
I was trying to get into guitar for awhile now, but it got boring and felt like i had no idea what i was doing each time. This app makes me want to take up my guitar and play until my fingers literally hurt :) it's very fun and i actually feel how i improve after every session. Very refreshing and relaxing. Already signed up for an yearly subscription. P.S So far no problems with the sound recognition as some of the reviews mentioned. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Have fun, stay positive.
The app is good for a beginner to learn, but getting up into the higher levels, the app struggled to pick apart the individual notes in the various chords and often isn't synced properly with the rhythm of the song to the bar progression. Makes anticipating the beat to play on time difficult when the app says your late or early, when you actually aren't. Overall good to begin with, but eventually you'll need to trust your ears and make peace with the app giving you 2 or 3 grey stars.
Best app for learning guitar. It is better than I expected. It has many lessons and songs. Most of the songs are made by YOUSICIAN. It has fingerpicking, riffs, country songs, rock songs, pop, and many more. It has 10, 20 and 30 minutes warm up of every day. It also notifies at your email address about some songs to play of your level. There are some levels of 1, 2, 3 and so on, of the songs and your playing as well. Yousician not only teaches you guitar like a real human teacher but also other.
I love the adjustability to suit my learning pace. The app has great features when you have premium (recommended) if your trying the free version and complaining that's why. Also don't bother trying to use the app without headphones, it won't hear you over playback. the record feature is great so I can hear how bad I sound. My only issue is dividing my time between which instrument I want to learn and getting wavy vision from staring at the screen too long especially looking at strum direction.
The app loses all credit because of how business is run. I was lead to believe I would be charged monthly payments. Even though it turns out you still have to pay for a full year I asked if I could be charged once a month instead of a lump payment. All they did was cancel next years automatic renewal. I cannot afford a lump year payment and I would still pay for the full year just monthly. My request was nowhere near unreasonable and this is worse than dealing with a crossroads demon. Unethical!
Would really like to give more stars, but some big things being it down. I like how you can practice tunes by playing at your own pace, the lessons, and the many songs available, but both this and GuitarTuna seem to tend to have a bit of trouble picking up on chords and it feels like most of the songs are only available with a subscription (this includes many of the good songs and ones I like). The artist spotlight also has really basic partial melodies and the actual songs are premium only.
Installed and subscribed. My daughter didn't care for it so I cancelled and moved on. However, they continued to charge me. When I did finally figure out how to contact them they said they cancelled it and due to a yearly subscription that's why I was still being charged regardless of cancelling through google play. So buyer beware if you subscribe, you're subscribing for a year regardless, apparently. Which I think is just terrible customer service and would not recommend. No refunds.
I have been using this for two days now (on the free mode). But now it won't pick up on any audio besides open ones. I have taken the case off and played right next to it but it still doesn't pick up. I can't get past the song now because it thinks I'm doing nothing. It would be lovely if you could fix this. Otherwise it's a great app! Sorry if this was too critical.
After using this for 7 months, I've been able to pick up the basics and have learned to play a handful of songs. They regularly update the app with new songs and features as well as fixing or improving the current ones. You can learn how to play with this app, however I feel like there are better options for learning the basics, many of which are free. They don't go into enough detail about some techniques that are important to learn when starting out.
It is a good app. Helpful in the way if you're a visual learner.and just like anything in life practice hard and don't doubt yourself. And sometimes the app can't recognize the chords, don't worry about that, all you need to know is that that the strings are in tune and follow the rhythm, the pattern that is being shown and used follow that.
The app is actually good. But I won't keep the membership because there's no way to disable the timer. It's very annoying! I'm not competing with anyone, nor need stars or a tap on my shoulder to tell me I'm doing good or not. What I want is easy access to the chord I want to practice and the app tells me if I'm performing it clear. However with the timer and if you take a bit long to situate yourself it closes and you gotta restart with another chord. It should have a way to disable timer.
Depending on the instrument one selects, their equipment, room acoustics, goals, and budget, this app has the POTENTIAL to educate students worldwide! My only recommendation for the VOCAL aspect of this app, is that one use it at a time they can be as LOUD as they need to! That varies from region to region, room to room, and requires skill.
Fun, entertaining, and challenging! I LOVE Yousician for our whole family. We have tried other apps but we always use Yousician because it offers instant feedback and it's fun. The best part is being able to learn different instruments within the same app and the whole family can learn under their own profiles. Highly recommend. I hope they add violin and banjo as well.
Worst app. Theyll keep charging you after you cancel. Its been a year for me. Edit: ive already contacted customor support and they basically told me." Too bad, youll have to wait till the date the plan ends and then cancel it before it atuomatically renews for another year with the same terms and condidtions" this app is a scam.
This app is incredible. I normally dont leave reviews, but Im going out of the way to applaud the developers behind this app. Very well done! Critical feedback: played notes sometimes dont register. It most likely is due to mic being next to speaker in a small device so not necessarily the app; more like the user should wear headphones and be in a closed room for best app performance or use a device with a separate mic input and place the mic next to your instrument to separate the audio
I've just started to learn how to sing so I've downloaded many singing apps but found this to be the best so far. The free version gives limited lessons/exercises but I want to master those before going to the paid version. Unfortunately other apps are still needed as yousician doesn't allow free singing to check what notes your hitting to correct and it doesn't allow to import songs to sing along with to match notes.
Don't get me wrong, the app itself is actually pretty amazing with a great way of teaching people at many levels, however, they've trapped me with auto renewal payments WHICH I HAVE CANCELLED. Because I have actually cancelled it despite payments still being taken, there is now no way to stop those payments from being taken.
I tried it out, as an experienced guitarist, just to see if it had a few songs that I'd like and it made me go through a starting course. It was very bad at picking out when I was playing, because it was often saying I was getting things wrong when I was clearly not. I do not recommend, I don't think therens anything wrong with my microphone, so I think the issue truly is the app.
