YouTube TV - Watch & Record Live TV

Had it for over a year now. The app is not optimized for every device i.e. tablets. Often shuts down in the middle of a program and go into and endless buffer mode while it tries to connect you to some VOD version leaving you with the only solution to completely exit and restart. Google/Youtube really should support this more. It could easily be the best streaming app with a little care and work.

Got YouTube TV for the NBA playoffs, like how I can watch it after the game is over but it always shows a replay or recap in the background and I HATE IT, because I'm about to watch the game and it will ruin it for me. Also commercials for other shows will cut out after commercial, I go to resume, and then have to watch all the commercials over again. Was going to keep it but I'll pass now, no thank you

I can't imagine paying over 60 bucks a month for this service. The regular YouTube app is fantastic, but this barely even works. I click on a show, and it buffers constantly, never loading. Once, I had sound, but no picture. Also, the number of ads is excessive, and so many show episodes just say "upcoming," even though these are past seasons. I got this trial to catch up on SVU and was able to watch several episodes yesterday, but now, those won't work either.

Terrible. Can only watch it on whatever the newest device in the house is. Works like trash on anything that you didnt buy within the last year or two. Glad I cut the cord to deal with this garbage app. Every update, you're crossing your fingers, "finally, they fixed it!" Hell no they didn't. Need to try Tubi or one of the other services that will actually work on the devices you have, not the ones you have to go buy brand new because thats the customer base they are worried about.

Channel selection and dvr feature are great. But, the interface (especially the live tv guide) is bad. Home screen is pretty good. But, the live tv guide is really terrible. No channel numbers. Cannot find shows or games in the future to record because there is no way to jump foward. When watching on google tv, guide is also very bad. Only lets you scroll into the future hour by hour. Doesn't even keep the time of day header visible when scrolling down.

Have had YT-TV had for a year. Love the basic app. This review is for the 4k plus add on. It's fine when it works and when there's anything to watch which is rare. Definitely don't have enough content and poor support if you have a problem. I couldn't play back some soccer games I recorded and got in an endless loop with help basically having me do a bunch of pointless trouble shooting. Don't waste your time or money with this add on. There's a lot more UHD content on other apps.

Streams never work upon initially opening the app. I always have to close the app and then open it again for "any" stream to work & play. The guide never updates either; it always list shows from the last time I used it. Works just fine on TV and Rokus. Update: the above issue doesn't do this after I switched from a Samsung Note & went back to a Pixel phone. However after using YTTV now for almost 2 years, there is still 2 annoying things that the app has & still does from day one. On the mobile app, it still will not correctly show what is currently playing in the guide. It will always show still what was playing from the early morning period. On my ROKU devices, when you click the guide it will only sometimes go to the current channel. It will always after a few minutes of watching when you go to the guide, it will revert all the way back to the first/top channel in your order. I order my channels by category. So it is annoying that when I go to my channel guide, it will take me completely away from the category(s) I want to be in and go to a new channel. If I wanted to go back to first channel, I would use the double click to get to the home page.

Very good guide, great app overall, works very similar to the YouTube app. Very happy with updates lately but the guide needs to be refined. I like the addition of the suggestions in the Live carousel. However, there needs to be an option to change the date to find content in the coming days. I would say the guide should be able to jump by day, at least up to 7 days ahead.

I guess I don't understand why something is so expensive yet has ads every 5min or so. Most streaming apps, if you pay for it, that includes no ads. Also, it is so annoying that every single time I pause it and come back, I have to close then reopen the app to get the video to load. You would think with something so expensive you wouldn't have all these hassles and annoyances. Uninstalling after my trial is up 🤷‍♀️

The live guide is absolutely horrible. There are no channel numbers just a list of networks. You have to scroll and read each network and they are in no particular order. Scroll to the bottom and hit the network before the one you want by accident, you have to go back to the guide and start over. Frustrating for the price charged. Convenience out the window,, they'll pay anyway. Right?

Love the service for the most part, especially unlimited dvr. But the app has always had big issues. The first time I open it to watch something it never loads the video and I have to close the app and reopen it. Recently I've had to uninstall and reinstall about once a month to get it to function. Had the same problem on my note 10+ as I now have on my s22 ultra.

We have YouTube tv and it is awful!! It is supposed to have unlimited DVR service but that is a lie! We keep paying the bill every month but are still unable to record programs! They keep giving us the runaround and do nothing about the issues but still take our money every month! You have one month to fix the issues or we will go back to cable!!!

Overall a terrible experience for the price charged, they need to address bugs within the app. For example, when watching a recorded show, time tends to jump around when using the 15 second time jump. Instead of going forward 2 minutes, it may jump 8 minutes.. Frustrating. Wanna wait to see the game? Well it will jump ahead from 56 seconds to just after it ends. Why do I pay $70 a month for such an unreliable app? Lack of real marketplace options that include local channels. Rather a colonoscopy

Canceled the service within free trial because it was so bad. Even with great cell service, movies and shows would buffer constantly. Throughout show I was watching, it would buffer every 10-15 seconds, even if I would pause it or anything to let it catch up. Also, after canceling service, they still tried to charge me after. This app is terrible

Just started using YouTube TV. I can say for sure that the app is super glitchy and VERY janky. Sometimes I can't play the video again if I leave the app and come back. Sometimes I try to skip ahead or back and it goes to the end of the video. It's just unpolished, which is weird because the regular YouTube app is rock solid and way more polished. The only reason I'm sticking with it is because it's way cheaper than AT&T and it has way more channels.

YouTube TV is muting when casting to my Chromecast. It doesn't seem to be affected by the volume on my phone as the volume on my phone is turned all the way up. It flashes a volume bar on the top screen upon casting and immediately disappears. It happens mostly when casting my recordings from local channels. I also noticed that when connecting to my Chromecast, that it displays "remote connected" instead of "connected." Was there an update or an upcoming update to fix this issue.

I'm updating my experience/review with YT TV and giving an Xtra star. Overall the experience is good. App works fine on all my family members devices. Works great on my Google TV/Chromecast as well as Roku. For the price DVR needs improvement and I would like to see YouTube premium added in the price! For 65 dollars a month there are a lot of channels but Sling is cheaper and works just as well!

I have had Youtubetv for about 2 yrs now. I love the ability to record unlimited programs and it fills in past episodes so I can binge watch. The price is very reasonable. I have not figured out how to "page down" when in the guide so it is frustrating to go 1 channel at a time when viewing "Live TV". I moved across country, it was great to watch on my screens AND able to watch my west coast channels that I was familiar with for about 3 months while I found them on east coast times.

All good with this app so far. I see the comments from others about the ads on here. I have been complaining about that for 50 years and it will not change on YouTube tv. But...I have the one tool that is very powerful for ads and that is the heavenly all mighty...MUTE button. I can find it in my sleep from every remote in my house. Have worn off the lettering on most of them.

Great Service - App has Issues. I am a fan of YoutubeTV but the app has had issues for YEARS. Mine is an android (tablet). Typically, when I open the app, if I click on something on the homepage that is playing "live" it opens it to play via "on demand" with ads. So, I close it and click on it to play again. It then goes to a blank screen with just wheels spinning - forever. Never will play until I shut it down and try again. Also, occasionally, shows will just stop playing.

Switched from Sling to here. I'm definitely pleased with the switch. I'm a sports guy so having local channels to watch games was clutch. I would say they definitely have one of the best all around packages for the great price. I have all the channels I need. Guide set up could be a little better, but overall I recommend for all Streaming cable users.

A little pricy but has everything I need. Local channels plus some good additional cable channels. There are, as expected, commercials. You can forward through them if you record shows on the unlimited dvr (which to me is the biggest benefit). If I could change one thing- I would like to see a recording choice of either RECORD ALL SHOWS or RECORD NEW SHOWS ONLY. I really liked the options in sports recording. Team- league- game

About a month ago, the first weekend of the NCAA basketball tournament, the stop button stopped working. Of course I first suspected the remote, so I tested it with the other five streaming services I have and it works fine on all of them. I was amazed that a bug like that could make it out the door, but naively figured that something so fundamental would be fixed right away. Amazingly, nope.

The syncing between YT TV and TVs in which shows are watched is lacking. If I watch shows on my TV all the way through, they will sometimes be marked as watched, and other times marked as watched then unmarked later on and I'll have to open the app on my phone and remark them as being watched. Kind of annoying at times. Other than that this is a good TV service! Unmarking of watched shows still happening and is quite annoying! Fix the problem!

A lot of glitches. Automatically plays the last video at startup after tapping whatever video show or channel you actually want to watch. Once this happens you can't watch the show you want until finding a third show and starting that one only so you can go back to show 2. Pretty expensive for the product you receive. Do not recommend. Thats not all but I'm out of room.

Commercials need volume balancing. Extremely annoying that I have to keep my finger on the volume button because as soon as a show cuts to commercial the volume goes to uncomfortably loud levels. Turn it down and then the program is back on and I have to up the volume to hear anything. With modern technology it seems ridiculous that YouTube can't resolve this problem that occurs ALL THE TIME

Commercials, commercials and when you think they're done more commercials. The more episodes you watch the more commercials they add. You want to fast forward or rewind? Commercials, and the same exact ones over and over again. Exiting the app on TV or phone and restarting seems to reduce them but just for a short period. Not worth the price

I am a new subscriber and so far I don't like it. In order to go from one channel to another you have to scroll thru the entire catalog of channels. It would be nice if they add a previous button to go back in between channels including in the PS4. And commercials are extremely annoying for a high price subscription.

The app and casting gets out of sync and takes a lot of effort to shut down the app and restart. Even the live listing do not update after period they were list. The phone app of live listing does not show what is coming up, even when that is a minute in the future. I could go on but this editing is hard when you cannot see what you type. No sound casting but an iPhone and laptop can operate properly. Then I can get the android phone to work.

Overall it works good but it could really use updating, like adding descriptions of shows, whether shows are new or not and an easier way to maneuver through movies and/or episodes of shows. Along with those updates, every once in a while we have to restart our device in order for the app to load, this is the only app that does this!
