This is the worse TV app. Most of the channels aren’t available, it constantly buffers, some TV work and others don’t. It lags and isn’t really live.

Two brand new Chromecasts with Google TV. YouTube TV gives an Error -100 on both of them and doesn't have an ETA on a fix. Very disappointing.

This is an abortion of an app. It is slow taking about 20 seconds to open a channel even on a Gigabit connection. The app does not allow one to use the TV Channel up and down buttons. It seems to have many more advertisements than the real channels. The main interface page is messy and hard to navigate. One day Google will learn to make apps that are easy and efficient to use. Until them I am off to Sling or elsewhere.

I have a Chromecast with Google TV, and two Android TV devices (Tivo Stream 4K and Nvidia Shield). I just signed up for YouTube TV a day ago and I am just starting to try the DVR (aka Library) functions. I am shocked that when playing back a recorded program from my Library I cannot Fast Forward or Rewind. When I press the forward or rewind button (the left and right side of the round button on the white Chromecast with Google TV Remote) it brings up a grey bar indicating the total length of the program and the message in the lower right "no views" I can only restart the program and cannot fast forward or rewind using the remote on any of these devices. I can speak "Fast Forward Two Minutes" into the remote and that works and I can fast forward and rewind from the mobile app. However this is not a good solution being that my most frequent use of a DVR function is to record sporting events and then watch them later and fast forward through the commercials where you can see thumbnail images of the scenes so you know when to stop fast forwarding. I did some research and apparently the issue is the DVR recording requires some processing to allow for fast forwarding or "scrubbing" through the video and this can be delayed for several hours. This is an extremely frustrating problem because 75% of the time the way I use a DVR is to record a program in progress and come back and start watching the recording maybe 30 minutes or an hour later while the live program is still on and then I catch up at the end by the time I fast forward through the customers. Given Google's immense resources and the huge YouTube brand name and considering Google has competition from Hulu Live TV, AT&T Now, Comcast/Xfinity, Spectrum and the like, I am completely SHOCKED such a basic feature could be completely broken currently.

I've got YouTube TV on a couple of Android devices, an AppleTV and my wife's iPhone. I recently purchased a TCL Android TV and installed this app. It works pretty well for the most part, but it has a major UI flaw. After starting to watch something live, there's no way with the remote to get back to the grid menu. I can get to a smaller "Networks" scroll on the bottom..but where's the traditional grid menu I can get on all of the other devices.

The android app works fine. The Chromecast with Google TV app kind of sucks. The picture will occasionally freeze but the audio will continue, you have to fast forward with the remote in order to sync the audio and video. Also, on my laptop I can watch recorded material at 2x but the Chromecast with Google TV app won't let me, why?!?!?!?!?

This program still stutters on HIsense Android TV. Tech support says that it isn't compatible with the TV, but this obviously is meant to be compatible since the list of devices indicates it is. The picture stutters badly, jittery, choppy, freezing and unwatchable. January upgrade did not fix anything. This was reported in early December in comment below. 480p is not a reasonable option. YouTube TV on Roku to same TV using same connection method at same time works flawlessly, but why buy an Android TV to use the Roku? There should be an immediate fix or make sure that it is recognized as incompatible. Also, watching YouTube TV on Chromecast Built-in has the same issues.

Needs Work - Please add support for the integrated channels feature in Android TV. Would love to see multiple channels added for Library, Live TV, and Recommendations. YouTube TV on Android TV should feel like a native product/integration, not third party. The interface could also use a scale feature to reduce the interface size and allow more content to be displayed.

The app is consistently failing to load on Sony 4K TV. After the video is selected to view it gives message “ something went wrong” it gives 2 options - send feedback & go back. I have tried clearing cache, data & force stop multiple times. I have also reset TV settings twice but nothing Is helping. It’s not playing any videos &goes in same loop. I would request any help or support here

I can't believe they charge so much, and still have tons of ads that you can't skip when you are watching video on demand. SO. MANY. ADS. If YouTube TV was super cheap or free, I would understand. But it's for sure not cheap!

Jer. R. Nov 8, 2020

At least with cable or satellite, there's the option to add as many TVs as you need. No such option for YouTube TV beyond 3 simultaneous streams. Why not offer a $5/per option to expand beyond a mere 3? It's ridiculous to have to pay for a 2nd account just so my family can watch TV in different rooms at the same time.

A. G. u. Oct 26, 2019

I'm very impressed with the snappyness of the interface and the speed that the streams load. The Family feature with customizable profiles are amazing! The ATT/Directv Now service I used to have looks like absolute dog s**t compared to this app. I'm sold!

This app runs terribly on CC with android TV. at 1080P it works mostly ok but at 4k it chugs hard. Video is jittery and some frames end up in the wrong order. Sometimes the UI will disappear while FFing. Contacted google several times about this and eventually they just stop replying.

A. G. u. Jul 31, 2019

The streaming is fine, but it is shocking that this app is not integrated with advanced Android TV features, like Home Screen Channels, Watch Next, Live Channels and search. Google should be a leader showing off what an app can do on Android TV, and it is not.

For some reason, after updating my tv (Philips android tv 7601) to Oreo, Im unable to display any channels in any higher resolution than 480p. When setting the settings to Auto it tries to go into 1080p but the picture is then devided in 4 squares with 4 seperate outputs of 480p. Could yu please look into this ?

75% of the networks air on YouTubeTv 3 hours later than on other platforms in the Mountain Time Zone. For example, Shows airing on Paramount Network, Bravo TV, FX, FXX etc..... at 12pm won't air on YoutubeTV until 3pm. So if you are waiting for a Primetime show to air at 8pm, You will have to wait until 11pm on YoutubTV to watch it. Tech support had no answers for me except for "Sorry". I prefer the guide layout on YoutubeTV, but having to wait 3 hours to watch some shows is a huge issue for me. I switched back to Sling today!

This is by far the best streaming service out there. It works flawlessly on my Nvidia Shield. I highly recommend it!

Updating my review because the app was updated a couple of months ago and now works almost perfectly on my Hisense TV.

And. H. Sep 12, 2020

The app is OK but if Google is going to ax Google Fiber TV, please lend YouTube TV it's beautiful design concept.

A. G. u. Feb 18, 2019

Needs to be integrated with Live Channels. One with the channels for Live TV and a second with recorded shows

Love it

I love the service as a Cable TV replacement, the DVR and the interface are great and multiple user profiles for the household are wonderful. I am not a fan of live TV starting to stream as soon as you open the app and hope you can add a toggle to turn this off in the settings soon. There are still no shows ever added to the "Play Next" bar in Android TV, YouTube TV is not alone in this, it only seems to be used by Pluto TV and the HBO app. More a criticism of the service and not the app, there is still no surround audio from all the channels and I know they broadcast to cable tv with that. People using a Android TV box probably use it in a home theater setup so surround would be appreciated. I would also love it if you could change the icon to the dark scheme like on Roku so it doesn't look so much like the YouTube icon on Android TV.

Latest update (v1.05.05) makes a LOUD popping sound every time I change the channel or fast forward/rewind. This is on an Nvidia Shield TV. It's not an issue with my TV setup since it only happens in this app and the latest YouTube app (ie, Netflix, Hulu, etc. don't do this).

A. G. u. Jan 29, 2018

It is great on my Nexus Player, but really wish it would work on my MiBox. When is support coming for other Android TV models.

A. G. u. Feb 4, 2018

It works but supper clunky. The live section is a joke. The phones do a much better job in that section. The skip forward is clunky and needs work.

A. G. u. May 8, 2018

Works well enough, better (in my opinion) than sling.tv. Would be great if the app integrated with Android TV's channel guide.

A. G. u. Apr 28, 2018

Installs, but doesn't work on Android TV ADT-1

Why no 5.1 surround sound output for Sony XBR X900E? Many other streaming apps have it. Otherwise, all else is good
