YouTube VR

Constantly tells you to take your phone out of headset or shows non split screen instructions or closes the app. Gave me a ton of issues, especially with not having a Google vr headet. Not to mention it requires Daydream, which I cannot use without the motion controller. I almost enjoyed it, but it just kept going to my home screen, over and over (and it was hard to reopen the app without taking my phone out of the headset.) Just supremely frustrating and more trouble than it's worth.

Hi! Thank you for having this available. Can the code please be modified so that you don't need a controller to "click" on video links (or even use the search or keyboard features) and instead have a "loading bar" effect like in "Within" where the circle gets completed when the video downloads, every time you choose an option, whether it be video, spelling out a search query or otherwise? Most videos freeze after about 3 seconds. But the 30 second ads never do. Pretty obvious that YouTube is an Ad platform that sometimes lets you watch the video you came for. The least problems I have with YouTube are on a desktop PC with an ad-blocker running. Garbage business model. They try to charge more for audio playing in the background on mobile devices. Fix your trash Google.

Amazing start with curved screen option and viewing of live streams and the option to watch with others-very cool. I wish for live streams it had chat in a second window, and a way to find videos others are watching already- perhaps it's there but I couldn't find it. Otherwise, great VR video experience. I enjoy watching Fortnight streamers with a large, curved screen making you feel like you are in the game in 3D. Only could be better if Epic provided a true VR view for those watching allowing you to look where you want rather than where the player faces. Interface is easy to use and I enjoy the app. It does what it needs to.

Amazing VR video experiences, I love watching VR rollercoaster 360 videos! The only thing I'd improve is making it easier to navigate through and scroll through purchases and playlists because this seems to be broken at the moment (maybe add up, down, left snd and ride buttons instead of having to drag the cursor). YouTube VR will not let me adjust sound and says to use android setting to adjust audio even though audio is turned up and works in every other app. It appears to be stuck on mute. I'm using android version 9 on a Samsung Galaxy Note 9. Please resolve this issue or the app will remain useless. Not to mention the whole daydream requirement is annoying too.

Inconsistant slow stream and pop up notifications about the screen makes watching vids impossible. All this time and they still refuse to improve features like, search filters based on recent or todays uploads, instead of forcing us to sift through old vids we know or seen. Also player features like save link for later, zoom, and since streaming is slow, either better cache or allow downloads to be playable anytime any connection any vr player cause this one has no features, no excuse!

It seems that many in this review section don't realize that this is merely an add-on to the normal YouTube app and is accessed by opening the YouTube app while in Daydream/Cardboard. Works as well as you'd think. Only major criticism is the option to watch videos with other viewers feels unfinished (probably still in beta so...). The placement of avatars is odd. I feel they shpuld be static and the virtual space should resemble stadium seating. And the audio seems not to work via headset.

Downloaded a VR 180 video offline in regular YouTube. Clicked it to play. Clicked the VR icon. This app opens. It streamed the video instead of using my download. Didn't tell me. I wasn't on WiFi. Single video cost me $10 in data. Add settings to not use mobile data. Use my offline data when i have it!

This app works with VR, and it has a good amount of functionality. Also to the people who's complaining about it being preinstalled, it has always been preinstalled on the Pixel phones since I believe the first Pixel, it's just that there's now an icon there.

Daydream VR is incredible. Just the vast amount of relaxation, solitude, and cinematic experience makes it worth every penny. Pair with your favorite noise cancelling head phones, and leave the world behind.

Its amazing to see how far Vr has gotten. For people who can't open the app: ipen another Vr app then press rye daydrean button with the indent. This will take you to the menu. Click on YouTube with the regular button and continue as regular. All videos can be watched, however only certain ones can be watched in 3-D. To reset where the screen is just point your control where you wany rhe screem to be and hold down the daydream button. (The small button with the indent, not pointing up.) Enjoy!:)

This app made me download 2 more apps in order to use it and it still didnt work. It requires a cardboard vr set which I dont have, I have one of the plastic ones, it kept lagging my phone amd simply would not let me use it. The app used to allow me to just watch youtube in vr as advertised but no.

It forces you to buy their hardware, because it is artificially incompatible with competing products. It will not allow uninstallation, and will remain in the pending updates list if it is uninstalled.

Waste of time. I've downloaded this app 7 times and not once would it even open. I tap on it and it freezes my s8+ screen and goes back to the previous page. Very disappointed.

again - why to have preinstalled apo that I won't even use as i havent got the VR set!? if i wanted it surely it eoukd be good to point this direction that I need sufh and such apps for it to work...but without it? I am just continuing being disappointed that ibhave ever switched from iphone as all this extra shait that's filling up my phone memory and wants update all the time - ne er happened there. it's like vicious circle as it drains battery after as well! and Google support is unbelievable

Installed it and uninstalled it. Asks a lot of things. And then there is this google setup page format which doesn't offer a save or next option during setup, i never get to know if the changes are saved or how to proceed next.

This app appeared on my phone out of blue. First thot it is bug then found out it is legit. Risky move to have app installed without user knowing it. Hope it won't happen again. Won't know how good it is. Already uninstall the app.

VR App Icons are useless, especially for people who only use VR irregulary. Please add option to hide VR icon. The standard launcher is overloaded with icons as it is. Or add the function to hide icons to the Pixel launcher.

It seems really strange to me that a YouTube (Google) VR app isn't compatible with Google cardboard. I just want a simple virtual theater on my purchased Google cardboard to watch my purchased Google videos on.

I have a Google pixel and when YouTube VR is installed and updated I lost all sound from all apps and general phone use. Once I uninstalled YouTube VR and restarted the phone, sound was restored to my phone.

The watch together feature is annoying and useless but and the interface looks like its just a demo but it works well.

I used to be able to use this app of a Google owned website with Google's daydream VR headset. apparently, since the last update, I can only use this app with an Oculus headset and the ton of oculus related apps installed. useless.

I just installed this app and it doesn't even have an open tab, doesn't let me open it, doesn't even show up in my apps, is it apart of the regular YouTube app? If so let me know, will change my rating if someone tells me how to get this app to work

I pay for YouTube Premium yet this app does not work on anything but the Google Daydream headset. Google becoming more like Apple every day. And I will use Google less and less in return.

Couldn't find a tab to use it and it wanted daydream to be downloaded. Once I downloaded that it wanted something else downloaded so.... uninstalled it cause I'm not gonna download something only to download something else and then something else and so on if that's what it wants....

absolutely awful. No icon for the app and its nearly impossible to get it to open. waste if time.

The best place to see a 360° video where you can count every pixel on your phone, and great for watching a normal YouTube video up close and personal. It's like your own personal movie theater.

Installed the app, doesn't even have an open tab and app doesn't appear on screen or anything. Major dissapointment when just bought a VR headset. Fix your app.

People! Stop giving this a 1 star review because you lack the brain capacity to realize this app only works with the daydream app and a daydream vr headset. Works fantastic with the headset! I love it!
