Very original. Also challenging and rewarding. Has a unique story. Thrilling gameplay. It's a classic. They don't make em' like this anymore.
Overall, Ys 1 (Chronicles) is pretty good and I'm enjoying it. I feel the battle system is kinda weak (Granted, I did start with Ys 8) and most of the boss battles are... ridiculous, even on normal difficulty. The touch controls don't really help much with that. However, it's pretty good for what it is - a remake of a super old game that started a classic series. (One last thing, translation seems to be a bit off compared to other versions of Ys Chronicles. Worth noting.)
The overall presentation is nice and appears well optimized on my device. The combat system may seem weird, but other rpgs had a similar style back in the early crpg days. It actually seems appropriate for a touchscreen device. I deducted one star for the translation and grammatical errors but it doesn't affect the story progression.
Had a cleared game and the update reset my progress. I'll never buy your games again. I want a refund.
**** review edited after developers fixed unpacking issue. Here is 5 stars to one of the best games from a generation past.
Unpacking error is fixed now, so I'm editing my review and changing rating.
Awesome Action RPG with an epic story and great characters and music and is accessible and really interesting with awesome epic boss fights. The only issue I have with it is it is way to short, it feels more like a demo than a full game, you can play the whole game through in about 4 hours. They really should have packaged this and its sequel together as one game for a much more complete package
The last boss is so hard so I had to give up lol. There should be way to change the setting to easy mode for completion purposes. Some achievements are not working. Like the free sword. 4star only because I have to find an old android phone to make it work, my new phone 2020 cannot unpacked the files.
Excellent port of a classic game. Some people may find the controls/combat unusual as it is quite distinct from other RPGs and this set it apart when it was first created. Overall an enjoyable story with not much tedious grinding for levels or gold like many RPGs. Any classic RPG can should definitely check it out!
I can't speak for the touch controls, but this port of Ys Chronicles 1 works perfectly fine with a controller. Its a near perfect port of Ys Chronicles on PSP. My only complaint is that the translation of the game is not up to par with the psp version as well as other games english localizations. Characters often have different names, Darm tower is called Dahm now, and for some reason Cleria is now Krelia. Dialog is also more stilted, but otherwise its a great port. Totally worth the buy.
Fantastic game—a timeless classic! The combat system is definitely strange, but you can get used to it quickly and then start enjoying the rich, vibrant and beautiful world of the game, along with its interesting story and characters.
The game has beautiful old school graphics and great options for music. The controls took a bit to get used to, and there are translation errors, thus the 4 star review. An enjoyable adventure game.
i love the Y's series im playing Y's Origins on the Xbox one. the reason I gave you guys such a low score is because the controlls are WAY off this NEEDS to be fix its too hard too control. if you fix this i will definitely change my rating if not, unfortunately with a heavy heart I'll have to ask for a refund.
Great game. Beautiful artwork and superb music throughout. Touch controls can be a bit tricky on some of the boss fights but overall I loved it. My first time playing a Ys game and will be playing them all now as I enjoyed it so much.
A decent RPG for the android platform. Good graphics and touch controls. An unsophisticated story makes for easy "mobile gaming" where i can pick it up and out it down.
I love Ys games, but this doesn't seem to work on Android 11 at all (I'm using a Pixel phone) and hasn't for months now. You'll never get past the file unpacking screen. This needs to be added as a disclaimer at the very least.
SERIOUSLY!.... THIS IS A GOOD PORT. Controls are surprisingly fine. And if you want, you could also use a Bluetooth Controller. But again, a good game!
loved this series on turbografx 16.. was talking to someone about this game and decided to look in the store and BAM!! bought both..love the music and gfx.. Controls a bit weird and need getting used to.but a great remake for sure..
Says unpacking files fialed have tried everything don't know what to do. This most likely would of been a 5 if I could play it since I adore the ys series. Buy it if you love the series, just know you might not be able to play it. (P.s. I'm on a Samsung galaxy s20 ultra)
A great port for a classic game! I really like this port. Runs smooth on my phone. I think it's an identical to the psp port as far as I can tell. Give it a try if you can spare the $6.
"Unpacking files failed." This is what it shows me the instant I press on the app to launch it. Need assistance. I'm using a LGV60. A 2020 phone. I shouldn't be having this problem? Thanks.
I just finished this game in nightmare mode. I give this game five stars. It's a great game. Thank you and good job, dotemu and nihon falcom. By the way, I have a request. Please release ys 3, ys 4, ys 5, ys 6 on android too because I have never played them and I wanna play them on android. Please hear my request. Pretty pleeeeeeaseeeee...
The game is presented beautifully, but it's rather dull, and your dude is more or less uncontrollable when using the on-screen pad. It's a shame, because I was quite excited to play this.
Can't open on Android 11, get error "unpacking files failed". Hopefully, developers update and fix issue, otherwise, can't recommend game.
I've loved this game since I played it on my Turbografx. The art style takes a lot of influence from "The Legend of Xanadu 2", which is a good thing. I'm really enjoying this remake of a classic!
