i haven't used the bikes yet, and i like the idea. its the first time using the app and I'm giving it 3 stars because i was expecting more. was expecting to see where bikes were located so i can assess the usefulness of the service. As a first time user all i get is and a list of areas but nothing graphically shown on the map. not sure if ill use it or keep this app installed. App still needs a lot of work.
The bikes are ok, the app is super flaky. Tends to forget you are currently riding a bike, might not let you unlock a bike, holding a bike (for short stops away from a station) has never worked for me, not even after trying another phone, customer support is slow. Killing the app and turning off/on Bluetooth sometimes helps. Review is for Princeton area.
WELLL, this app is a maze, you download, sign up, crashes multiple times until you go to your email to confirm even though they don't tell you to confirm. Uninstall, reinstall, then finally it works. First time setup has a steep learning curve but after that, it's easy.:-)
I love this concept but the app does not work well at all. I could not get the bike to unlock. When I decided to just cancel the ride, the button on the app to stop the ride wasn't working. Therefore I was forced to call customer support so I wouldn't get charged. Customer service was fortunately quick and friendly even on a Sunday. I got a survey after via email to rate my experience, and that wouldn't even work either!
what a terrible service. to call it a service is a bit of an exaggeration of course since "service" implies some sort of functionality. i took one of their bikes as a first time user and ended up spending half an hour trying to lock it back. the app continued to generate errors and refuse to lock the bike back. in the meantime the meter continued ticking away. finally i had to call their phone support. the first representative hung up on me mid conversation. the second rep helped me finally.
no ride - still charged $8. the app failed to unlock the bike, and then still started the timer. at the end, the app charged me an extra $5 (onto the base $3) because the bike wasn't "returned" to the rack (when it had never been unlocked in the first place :( ). no response from customer service, either.
DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE! The bike's locking mechanism and the customer support service is horrible! I tried locking the bike at the end of my ride by pulling down the orange tab but it was jammed. The app said the bike was locked when it actually wasn't. Tried calling support to avoid liability twice. When I called them the first time, they hung up with me. This issue was only resolved by having someone else start the ride on that same bike. Will only rate better when issue is fixed.
tried returning the bike to its port and it wouldnt allow it to lock. called the number on sign in hopes they could allow it to lock since it was at port. went through all their steps to try and get THEIR bike safe and locked (deleted the app, redownloaded, turned bluetooth off/on, closed out of app. ect) atlast when they couldnt fix it or help me i was suguested to take the bike to a police station and or abandon it (on my $$$) until they could get a repair person on there. DO NOT DOWNLOAD!!!!!
Their tech needs serious work. Both my wife and i had issues getting the temporary lock to work. We got hers working eventually but it wouldn't complete the connection for me. It then wouldn't let her unlock it and we had to call them. All in all we wasted close to an hour of our day on this. We've used other similar services many times without issue. Given technology is the heart of their service this really isn't acceptable.
I would love to try this service however whenever I try to open the app on my note 8 an error message pops up and I get booted out... Haven't been able to use it even once! Deceptive download.
Completely broken. Had it downloaded for some time but only recently tried it out. Got as far as giving all my info then it crashed and wouldn't restart. Checked for an update, downloaded that and now the ap won't even start. Would be less hassle to just buy a bike.
I rely on these bikes daily. However, this app has always been buggy especially the Bluetooth portion so ive always typed in the bike number manually and was given a code to manually unlock the bike. Now you've removed that function and forced bluetooth! Please bring back that function so i dont have to spend 10 minutes everytime I want to unlock or lock the bike.
Bluetooth does not connect so I can't unlock any bikes. Tried restarting my phone and it still doesn't work. Wish I knew this before paying for a year-long subscription :/
Bike broke down, no way to get support. The bolt that hold the pedal quit on me. Had to walk to a moped rental to buy a bolt and fix the bike on the road. Two hours later we were able to bring the bike back. Very quick billing though... The only communication with them is by email.
fun, easy to use, but have had issues worth bikes a few of the times. wish they had maps of bike routes in the app. wish there were more around town
Agreeing with others that have trouble with the Bluetooth connection to the bikes. Most of the time I can't unlock or lock bikes. Called customer support repeatedly who were neither friendly nor helpful.
Does not unlock bike even after troubleshooting but will still charge you money. 3 out of 4 times the bike did not unlock. It's not worth it since the company can't even bother to email you a notice when the app isn't functioning.
Appreciate the discounts for students, but it's still not a very user friendly experience. Constant crashing on Android devices.
ohhhh myyyy this is a bad user experience. The app makes it extremely cumbersome to lock and unlock the bike. Ending my ride took 15 minutes of waiting for a connection to establish with the lock. It took restarting the app 5 times for it to finally work. Yikes.
Service is cool but the app needs a bit of work. Very cumbersome to get a bike, no way of knowing how long you've had it rented until you return and returning the bike is nearly impossible.
Tried to use the app to borrow bikes in Lexington, Massachusetts. The bike stations don't show up in the app despite being on the website. When I got to the bike station I typed in the bike number and the app said the bike didn't exist. I then searched with bluetooth and the app said all five bikes in the station were unavailable. We drove to the next closest station and again the app said that all five bikes at the station were unavailable. Ended up wasting a good day for a ride.
Zagster bike rental downtown is completely trash. You will never get my money again. Me and my daughter rented bikes to ride downtown tonight and when it was time to return the bike it would not connect to lock. We called customer support. They informed us to disconnect blue tooth, close out the app. and log back in which we did numerous times and it still didn't work. She informed me that I would have to take the bike with me because if I left it there and it was stolen then I would be responsib
I have two experiences with Zagster. The first time I used it, I had no problems. The second time I had trouble connecting and it charged me two dollars for a bike that would not unlock. I replied to the email I had received about billing, and got a response and a refund right away. The app then still refused to work as it would say "bikes are unavailable". I uninstalled and reinstalled the app and it worked fine. Some problems but a great concept, I hope they keep improving upon it!
