Its good and tables are fun. The one you get for free is actually really fun once you get the hang of and you can get a lot of playtime with it. My one issue (and its a huge one) with the game is how it looks. Resolution is so bad it's sometimes hard to read letters and this just becomes more disappointing when you see how good the tables look on console, or even on the other standalone ones like Bethesda pinball. This game is in serious need of some graphical updates for modern phones, it doesn't even run in fullscreen. Now that I'm finding Zaccaria now, I really see no point in spending money on bad looking tables. Zaccaria looks amazing and actually runs in fullscreen.
Only one table comes with it, but the tables you can buy are detailed and perhaps worth the money, depending on your love of the particular characters. However, I was absolutely furious that it lost my current game & highest score ever on a table I bought (Back to the Future), when I elegantly paused the game to open Android notifications (that's it, no other app!) and then switched back into the game, it entirely refreshed the screen back to the home page and my game was last forever. ARGH!!!!
Comes with 1 free pinball table which is awesome. A lot of tables (as of the time of this review) are just. 99¢ to $1.99. A fair price compared to the other popular pinball software that try to make you purchase individual tables for 4.99. Issue I brought up well over 2 years ago is screen doesn't adapt well to larger screens. Got a Note 10 and the game won't adapt as the screen cuts off way before the bottom making you miss the flipper controls. Now on 3y..fix the gfx for larger phones already!
It's the best simulated pinball experience there is but the graphics really hurt the experience, they are blurry and full of jaggies and I'm confused as to the lack of options, there's some very powerful android devices! Edit: I wasn't satisfied with my purchases due to issues with them, and received top level customer service from zen, they deserve the highest praise for this. I can't speak highly enough of them and I'll be purchasing the tables again on steam!
The games are well designed and have top notch graphics and duplicate the original table too well and thats the issue. Some options are needed to port this over to Android. Its needs graphics options similar to PC for graphics like the ability to lower it further. My Galaxy TabA can barely run it and its frame rate is bad. Also the ability to make the ball contrast more against the table as you can barely see the ball. Also option to remove the "gutter ball" schemes to make the game more fair.
Large selection of tables including Jurassic Park, Marvel, and Star Wars. Very affordable price for table. Smart move on the devs, I will end up paying more over time to get more at a relatively cheap price than if it was expensive to get one. Good overall, suggested improvements are larger table (easier to see) and the left flipper isn't as responsive as it should be all the time.
I wish there was a one time table pass on sale for 60 dollars or so, you could honestly make more money that way because people will spend 60 bucks far more than the 100+ that it costs to buy them seperately. You cant make a niche title morr mainstream by charging that much. The game is fun, it would be more consumer friendly to provide a one time purchase. Thank you. Have a good day!
After trying three other pinball games that were either too complex or too simple or had terrible controls, this one is amazing. There gameplay is really fun. If you lose a ball after only a few seconds of play it automatically shoots it back into play. Certain combos send you into mini games inside the main game, with huge point bonuses. And I'm not a very good player but I can keep a ball in play for over thirty seconds most times.
After spending more time with Zen Pinball I'd like to point out a few areas that could use improvement. The biggest issue I have is that the graphics aren't HD and look pixelated on larger screens. Not as polished looking as Zen's Williams app. I hope this gets looked into on a future update. Maybe even the ability to set the visual parameters. Secondly, I find some of the UI a bit clunky. I think I would prefer the main home screen to be divided into "My (purchased) Tables" and tables to buy.
Edit: It's been patched for the Pixel 2 XL to be a good game. Menus fit well now, and the gameplay is still fun. It doesn't require any permissions, at least no mandatory ones! Previous review: Pixel 2 XL user here, still have not fixed the control layout for my phone. Very difficult to use the menus. For phones where all the buttons are accessable, I'm sure it's very good. It's unfortunate to see them come out with new tables for you to buy every month instead of fixing the layout.
Love the tables. I have played the 3DS versions of this game, and for the most part the experience translates well. My biggest gripe is the button regions for the flippers are painfully small. I wish we could adjust those controls, but this game has been here for years (the UI painfully shows that). I have lost many times because my thumbs crawl up along the screen overtime and all of a sudden I miss the flippers. I'd rather just play on my 3DS or Switch, where I can feel the buttons.
Used this for years on other devices and it worked great, however, this does not display correctly on newer devices with 18:9.screen ratios as the game is scaled to eliminate blank borders on the top and bottom of the screen. So when you play you can't see about 10% of the table on either side of the display. Doesn't look like there are any plans to fix this once-great app.
Needs more non android actions to back out. Like exiting from a table and such, it's a bit complicated when I don't have my home buttons visible on the galaxy s10. Honestly, I like Zen Pinball, play it on the PC. But this one needs more intuitive navigation controls. Granted this was a issue a year ago when I tried it out, but still. Samsung S10
The best pinball game. A lot of mobile games try to convert console experiences and end up having awkward controls. This game is arguably better on mobile with simple but effective controls and is perfect for playing in short bursts. The themed tables that I have bought are well presented and fun to play. Tables load quickly as well, which is essential for mobile games in my opinion.
Once a great pinball app is now un-playable on my Note 9. In standard mode the app is scaled to about 10% of the screen making it literally un-playable. In full screen mode it is playable but you lose 10% of the left and right sides of the screen making certain parts of tables invisible. A true shame as I love Pinball FX on the PC and Switch. Will update my rating when they fix this issue.
This app is near perfection. The tables are great. The pinball is superb. The game and menus can all be navigated with a keyboard. small quibbles: first that there is no keyboard button mapped to nudge. This is probably because the default key for nudge in the PC versions is left/right Ctrl, and android seems to merge that into a single key code, but it'd be great if they mapped z and / to table nudge. Second: why aren't the Williams tables here rather than banished to a less polished app.
These are the best pinball simulations I have ever played, greater when playing on a big screen. Loads of tables available for a very small fee each. We are talking cents/pence to buy older tables. I'm on Beelink GT king pro android TV box and the app supports a gamepad. The graphics are smooth and fast, with 3D animations different on every table. The effort gone into creating the table simulations is second to none! There is so much detail with loads of things going on in play. Well done ZEN.
I was having fun at first, but I don't appreciate that you can watch a video or pay real money for extra balls. You can just pay your way to the top of the leaderboard, which isn't cool. Edit: Zen Studios seems to think I would prefer a free to play game, which is completely backwards. I do not mind paying for tables. I just hate that you can buy extra balls to get an inflated score.
The tables are amazing, even though I buy them on Steam. The visuals, the style, you name it. Lovable. I'm having a hard time recommending Zen Pinball on mobile, however. Playing on a phone feels strange because of the uncomfortable flipper controls, a smaller screen and clunky nudging, but not on a tablet. You're better off playing Pinball FX 3 on the Switch if you want to play fictional pinball outdoors. The controls are more stable and varied, that I even got 885 million on Sorcerer's Lair.
I downloaded this just so I could play the Captain America pinball table. It's my favorite. The game is really fun and provides hours of enjoyment. I spent close to 5 hours playing even today trying to master the shots on the different ramps. This is the 3rd time I've paid for the Captain America table, once on xbox, on iOS, and now Android. It would be cool if they let you get a free trail on the other tables to see if you like them and want to buy them.
Sadly it never got optimized for modern devices so it dosen't utilize the whole screen of my Note 9 or other devices with new or different aspect ratios. I love to play your pinball games on quest vr and PC. It would be amazing fx3 on mobile, but it probably will never happen. But please at least Update this game so it utilize the whole screen.
Good game. For people having trouble with the whole screen, change the settings in Android and change full screen apps to full screen instead of auto. It's pinball, some games send you to ballout a lot. Some you play for 10 mins or more without losing the ball. That's realistic. Not bad programming.
Beautiful pinball game, just as I remember it from 2015 on Windows 8. But I have a question regarding control hints. I play on gamepad and the game has perfect gamepad support (incl. vibration), it doesn't have gamepad buttons hints. I was able to figure them out myself but it would be great to have those hints instead of touch controls if gamepad is connected.
Zen Pinball is pure pinball bliss!! One of the best simulations of "everyone's favorite amusement game", Pinball. The graphics are loud, vibrant and packed with an impressive array of bold colors that simply just pop. Aside from the graphics, each table's presentation comes with its own unique set of sounds and catchy tunes. Sound design is a highlight as it creates a more immersive experience during play. Physics of the ball, bumpers & flippers all feel appropriate and damn-near spot-on!!
It's pretty obvious that this app was designed for very old smartphones and hasn't been updated properly. Resolution is not even 720p, it's extremely ugly on a recent smartphone. Even the proportions are weird (I have 2 black zones at the top and at the bottom). Please wake up, it's a shame cause the tables are very good (I own a lot of them on Steam).
