Category : Maps & Navigation
This is about the service as well as the app. First of all, it's nuts how difficult it is to navigate time in the app. If I want to see on the map which cars are available tomorrow, that doesn't seem to be an easy option unless I jump through hoops in the menus. Worst, the cancellation policy is even crazier: within thirty minutes or making a reservation or three hours before the start of the journey? That must be why there is so little availability. Zipcar hangs on to short-term profits.
Needed the car tonight and downloaded the app a week ago. The app first asked for identity - driving licence etc to upload. The app didn't recognized it for a while, but then I just went out of the app and when opening the app again it worked. I could choose all, the car, timing etc. And I thought ok it works. Yesterday I wanted to book a car for tonight and all was working until I pressed the pay button. And then the message poped out:"Ups, something went wrong". It shouldn't work like that.
Terrible interface and registration process. Started registration on my phone's browser and when it got to the photo verification I couldn't take any photos, so I downloaded the app in hopes of doing it there. There is no visible button in the app for account settings or setup, and once I input a payment method it charged me for membership and immediately locked me out of my account, with the only way to unlock it being to call their customer service.
App works fine, sometimes it seems to be non-responsive when needing to unlock your car but you can call support and provide information to get them to assist you. However the company itself seems to have a lot of issues in the ATL area. I have had frequent cancelations due to "something come up" with the vehicle I have rented.
Every time I try to book a car it tells me to update my card details. I then proceed to do that, which then causes an error to occur and I have to start the whole process again. Infuriating. Got it to work eventually after over 5 minutes of trying and approving payments from online banking, though this is the third time I've had the same problem.
How difficult can a company make it to use a service??? Been using Zipcar for years and now I'm leaving. The seemingly simple request to update card details to their new app resulted in me spending 2 days and 8 attempts to carry out this task....and still haven't can't do it. I've actually given up and borrowed a friend's car. If the aim of the update is to infuriate or lose your customers....you've done a great job.
App is Great, Car's are disgusting. Honestly everytime I've got a car it looks like they never clean it. Your better off going to enterprise for a car. I would say zipcar I'd only good to do a quick shopping or anything that might take you a few hours. But still I would say go with enterprise, honestly at least they clean their cars right before you get them. This is definitely the last time I'm using zipcar and I suggest everyone to do the same. It's not worth it.
Unfortunately our zipcar had vomit-covered items in it. They provided us a new car and promised to cover the Lyft cost to and from that vehicle, provide a (small) credit on my account, and reimburse some of the fee (TBD) but I'm still waiting on these promises. Finally, the new car's unlock card was missing from the visor so we had to skip hikes where we couldn't unlock the car without cell reception... Quite disappointed overall but will update review if they make good on their compensation.
I got approve to drive the day I applied with a provisional license. I have had my provisional license for 4 months now. But I have been driving for 1 year and 5 months. Zip cars are usually very clean with a nostalgic new car smell. The variety of cars is nice for irregular errands. The app is intuitive and simple. Transaction are fast and immediate.
I was over charged for a booking! The app wasn't letting me end the booking after I was done using the car. I tried calling them and and was on hold for over hour while still unsuccessfully trying to end the ride. Finally I gave up and decided to call them later about it the next day. I am still on the phone on hold with them and have an extra $50 late change on the ride. I doubt if I would want to continue with them.
They have ruined A very special day. This is the second time I have rented a car for the day and then last min the car either is no longer available or the car had issues. It's always something. My daughter was crying from how disappointed she was. They are unprofessional and just horrible.
Terrible the card they sent me doesn't work, along with yes you can unlock the car on the phone but it's saying something is wrong with the account the first time I signed out. I already rented the car right now and can't get in it. I thought okay I'll give zipcar a call I've been on hold for 50minutes now! Now I'm angry and late I want my money back for the time I payed and can't use and to cancel it all together.
BEWARE!!!!!! If you sign up for this and there are no cars in your area and you try to cancel your membership and get a refund, you will ONLY be refunded for the $7 monthly fee and NOT the $25 application fee. Didn't even get to use it, just basically paid $25 to download the app for nothing.
Generally very good! I wish there was a more consistent way to highlight cleanliness that doesn't require waiting on a notification, sometimes that doesn't reliably appear at the start of a trip.
It has been 2 weeks now. Still not able to activate my account due to website issue, which goes blank just after uploading the documents and manual activation is not possible as per Zipcar team. IT team has still not fixed the bug, even I wonder how long could it take to solve such an issue!!
Customer service is very slow. Usually takes about half an hour or more to talk to them and that's the only medium of communication. If the customer base is high, why don't they hire some more staff to address customer issues fast enough instead of complaining "due to high number of incoming calls, we are slow".
Options to filter auto/manual with round trip is not available. And only manual cars available which is weird for car share company. Paying monthly fee for weak service and not very well thought app. Very disappointing, ended up renting a car from other company.
I have been 10 days trying to finish my application and I keep receiving the message "oops something went wrong. Contact us". I have called many many times and I always get the recorded message saying that they are unable to attend the call due to the high volume. After sending several messages through "help?" in the app, I got an email telling me that there is an IT problem and I need to wait. REALLY? 10 DAYS TO SOLVE A PROBLEM? IS THERE ANY ONE TO CONTACT?
New payment method is a bit of a mess. Doesn't work if you have credit so the booking is £0.00. I had to book for longer so it charged me £2 to get it to work. Then go back and modify it to the period I actually needed it for.
The app is not very useful, simple things like contacting customer care, making changes to account, opening and viewing existing help tickets is not there. On top of this their customer service is probably worse in the world. Tried multiple times to get reimbursed for gas as their fuel card was not working, they say it's very easy but it is not, they will never reply or follow up on your help ticket, good luck trying to call them, just say goodbye to your money.
Had the WORST experience last sunday. Booked a honda civic. when i arrived the car hadn't even been assigned but trip was showing up on app. Car never got assigned. I waited 10 mins and booked another car, went about my business. Returned a few mins late having been delayed because of zipcar's earlier mess up. But they charged me $50 for being late. Customer care doesn't exist. Tried calling 4 times, held 30 mins each time. No response. Edit-wrote to email as instructed. No response. Jst a scam
Fantastic options, rides, simple app, free cancellation until few hours prior to the ride, app showing fuel levels of cars, additional damage protection available... just wonderful 🎊 💫
First time users beware -- it takes a while for all the features on the app to go into effect, like damage reports, res confirmation,... Now that I've been using it for a while I can say it's fairly easy and intuitive. Leave yourself a fair amount of time to check car for damage, and to report it before jumping in the car. I signed up for the vans. The sprinter vans then disappeared from my neighborhood, but in the last few months Zipcar seems to have upgraded their fleet of all vehicles.
Great App for car & van sharing. I've been a member for over 3 years. Already used the van rental at 2 moves and the car rental many times. Fast and effective. Easy proccess to book, even last minute. Good availability of vehicles. Great customer service that you can get on the phone and resolve effectively any issues. Has options of both 'return in place' and 'flexi' cars that can be returned anywhere within a large region.
Zip car is a beautiful thing, with rentals that's close to you, and I absolutely love it,it can be a bit expensive but if your in dieing need it helps ,I just wish they ran specials something but the convenience of someone who doesn't have a car this is perfect
As one of the early adopters of the zipcar program, I had a legacy account that had been dormant for the last 10 years. When I tried to reactivate it, zipcar rejected my application and wouldn't explain why, "for privacy reasons" after it already collected all of my most recent personal information. It made no sense because it acknowledged that I was the correct account owner. So I switched to Enterprise Car Share (formerly Autoshare) a few weeks ago and found the service to be way better.
