Excellent experience. Create your character, choose your allies, kill your enemies and survive the zombies. Different experience for everyone. You'll laugh and cry. You'll also probably die.
It's good... Though it can be very linear and frustrating. At times I felt very forced to make certain decisons in a specific order. Otherwise you die and are forced to restart from the last, very far away savepoint. Parts 1 and 2 are free, short and serve as the set up. The true depth doesn't begin until parts 3, 4 and 5 which you'll need to pay $1.99 to get each chapter. So $6.00 in total. Overall, I feel it is cluncy, overpriced and kinda shallow with its characters. I am disapointed.
Lengthy and entertaining adventure that almost feels more like a solo table top RPG at times (a good thing in my mind). There are a lot of branching paths that make you feel like minor decisions like what you are carrying really open up new opportunities. There were quite a few continuity issues (references to people I hadn't met) and spelling/formatting issues, especially towards the end of the game that made it feel like the epilogue was rushed to completion. Overall a fun experience.
Great Game but ongoing fees. This is a blast to play! It's extremely well written and gives you tons of options/choices while playing. I highly recommend it! The only issue is, you need to pay $1.99 multiple times. First, to remove adds then for each part of the story. So far, I believe I've paid $8 to get to part 5 & remove adds. Its worth the money, it just feels slimy when you have to continually pay to play. I would rather have an $8 up front cost. That feel more legit and honest to me.
I'm honestly shocked at the replay value of this story! I've read many of the CYOA-type stories on Google Play, but I rarely feel like starting back over from scratch like I did with this one. I've just finished my second full playthrough with a different ending, and I'm about to jump in for my third!! The only things that bother me are that you have to pay $1.99 to access chapters III, IV, and V each. I do like the saved reload, but I'd like to always have the option, not only when I die.
Pro(s): - Gameplay is detailed and immersive with only a few spelling errors throughout, and decisions matter greatly depending on the scene, creating a good replayability factor. Con(s): - Restarting the game is difficult due to poor account recovery system. - Fair warning that the game is not free. The first chapter allows you to play with ads or buy the chapter. Once completed, however, you have to individually buy each following chapter with no choice of playing with continued ads.
I guess you could say I'm a text based choice games addict. I've bought between 20 or 30 of them and spent who knows how many hours at work playing them, so I'm not exaggerating when I say that Zombie Exodus and it's sequel are the absolute best choice based games I've ever played. The reading to choice ratio is spot on, the descriptions paint a picture in your head, Mr. Dattilo obviously knows a lot about many subjects, and it's just difficult enough to make you nervous. Fantastic game. Perfect
I loved this game. The only thing preventing me from eating it five stars is that you have to pay for each chapter. I think they should just charge you one larger amount after you get through the free to play part. The story is great, with so many opportunities to change the outcome of many different things and how certain actions will lead to different endings.
I put off reading this one for a long time because I'm not that into zombie stories - but I have to say... I think this is the best Choice of Games/Hosted Games book I've ever read. I don't think I've ever felt so immersed in a story. I cared about each decision, each character - I felt so many emotions and the weight of responsibility. I personally enjoyed paying for each chapter - I got to decide after every part if I waned to continue. Just buy it. It's worth it. Starting the next one NOW.
i loved it, HOWEVER because i have to buy each chapter anyways there needs to be an undo button. i know that it destroyes the livelyhood of the game but idk how many times i pressed the wrong thing only to have to restart the entire game to correct my mistake especially in the begining when your customizing your character its really annoying and it ruins my fun.
Brilliant writing and storytelling. This is the best text-based adventure game I've played and one of the best zombie stories I've experienced. I can't recommend this game enough. The writing is enthralling, the characters are rich and real, the story is captivating. You won't regret purchasing this game if you enjoy text-based adventures.
I have only played the free portion and loved it. The only thing that prevents me from giving it 5 stars is the fact that you have to pay for each additional chapter. This wouldn't be a problem if I knew how many chapters there are so I know ahead of time how much money I'll be paying or if they would simply allow us to pay a single set fee. a single set fee would be even better.
Really great idea, great story, great involvement. But the impossibility to go back even from a not decisive choice (maybe for a mistake?) makes everything VERY frustrating. You can restart from a saved point, but without your improvements in your stats and in your humanity. I deleted the game from my smartphone after I selected to improve a stat with the intention to increase leadership, but without this possibility I needed to go back for taking another choice. And I am so angry.
its ok but not great ok so i wanna start this off with saying that i enjoyed the game if you want to waste some time then this is for you but if you want to play the full game you have to pay and when i stopped playing the game and yeah i understand that devs need to make money but with the ads it seems unnecessarily. and it keeps glitching out and what's the point of saving if you got to pay for the next chapter?.
Great great Choose your adventure game!! I got so immersed into the story and character!! Love it so much and I love how when you get the next books it saves your data and uses the choices as an impact in the next story. Keep it up, its amazing.
I've been into interactive novels for a while now and this one's actually pretty good. (SPOILER ALERT!) That scene with Mike the maintenance man though, it feels emaciated; like I didn't get enough of what I wanted from that scene and you could've done so much more with it: it's too short is what I'm trying to say. Maybe they could've had a conversation before you just offed him like that; you know... a 'any last words?' type of situation. You need to feel nourished by the story; the characters.
One of my favorite ever COG. Jim is and excellent writer, it's easy to see he's invested in his character and stories. Sometimes I go a year or two between playthrough and I'm always blown away. My only complaint isn't about the author or the story, but the new cog app will not transfer data over from ZE app, and it's frustrating
this game is fantastic! i love the narrative and the character growth throughout the game. the choices yoy make feel weighted and what else can i say i love smacking some zombies around. the full version is worth the money for sure.
Holy moly! Where should I start? This book, has brought me joy, happiness, suspense and sadness throughout my journey. The details in which the author desribes your every setting/scenery. The amount of feelings and emotions this author manages to conjure with mere words is just phenomenal. Worth every God damn cent I paid and please, if you are contemplating to buy it, fear no more. It will be one of the best books you'll ever read! Thank you for giving us a great read!
A few grammar errors. That wasn't the problem. I paid for the app only to have to pay AGAIN a few minutes later. Apparently its pay by the chapter, and I wasn't even on Part 1. I can't even find a part 1 anywhere. Waste of time to a only get to play a chapter or two, feels scammy.
I love this game it's very immersive but I hate how you need to pay $1.99 for each chapter, I've spent more money on this game then any other mobile game I've ever played, I just wish that maybe the developers made it like $5 maybe $10 to play the whole story
It keeps glitching at the 3rd chapter when you wake up at the bed after heather talks to the character it goes back to the boat thing and removes the options you chose before it glitched it repeats this again and says "error no selectable options"
Not really any controls or graphics to be concerned with. But the story was awesome :-). Not short either, that's a plus.
It was honestly a good storyline and I was excited to see where it was going BUT u haveto pay 2 dollars to continue reading so I did that and you haveto make an account which I did,but wouldn't log me in,so thanks for taking my money
First thing that greets you when you start the game is an option to buy the game for $2, fair and fine right, what they don't tell you is you're not actually buying the game, you're just buying the option to remove ads. You find this out because in order to continue to act 3 you have to pay another $2, so now that's $4 total... Scummy they don't tell you but whatever right, Wrong because you just bought act 3, you still then have to purchase 4 after that and they don't tell you jack. Be upfront
