It does the bare minimum of what you'd expect. When you turn your phone you can get normal aspect ratios instead of distorted and pixelated images. However you can't save photos in that mode so it is pretty useless. How can a company this big put out apps that are so sub-par compared to smaller companies.

This app is pretty bad. Not only is the UI very dated, but it barely works. Once I hit play on the channels I set up, they work OK for about half a minute. Then you start to notice a lag and next thing you know your phone will barely respond and the app eventually Force Closes. My Moto X doesn't have any issues like this with other apps.

I am by no means a developer however I am an avid zmodo product user. I have installed countless, zmodo DVR's and this app is great. It is backward compatible with the older version DVR's however it also works exceptionally well with the new DVR's as well. I believe that the 4 way split is sufficient at least for my S3. I believe that any more screens that that would cause problems on the device. I do not believe that the s3 has enough processing power to handle more video streams. PTZ and other functions

I'm fairly familiar with networking and I know how to open new port forwarding in my firewall so it really wasn't a big deal to get this application to work. Having said that the program is a little wonky and they really could use an interface clean up. It seems to work fine and all my camera's stay up fine so just make sure you have all the correct ports open and you are able to view your cameras without a problem. **small update to review, I have noticed that the video will drop some times...

To all the 1 stars, Google how to forward ports on your router and you cannot use the admin user for remotely viewing. Also set your DVR to a static ip to avoid DHCP giving you a new one. And Google what's my IP and expect it to change every few months or setup a dynamic dns. Works perfectly on remote wifi and 4g, 3g lags but still usable. Security is easily brute forced, so having an SSH server and tunneling this through it is a must. Good app for the tech savy.

Make sure your using your internet IP address and not the computer IP address when trying to view on cell network or WiFi away from your home network. Do not enable "enable ip access in your dvr settings(set it to disabled). Set two devices with this app one for your home network (pc ipaddress) and then one for cell data or any other wifi(away from home) zmodo really needs better instructions.

Had trouble connecting, finally connected and worked for 1 minute literally. Now it won't reconnect. I tried to trick it to see if it is communicating with DVR by changing the password and it did say password error, so it is pinging it but now it hasn't worked since. I'm looking for an alternate 3rd Pty app. No support on this app either. Disappointed. :(

And haven't had an issue until now. My camera channels are always in and out, but when I check the DVR box, everything is up/up. It started to get finicky about one month ago when different boxes would show video where others would just say reconnecting. But if I go through all 8 channels in one box they all show up.

This app doesnt force your screen on. Uses up 90% of cpu power on my note 3. Its super sluggish! Where my swann dvr only uses 17% cpu max with 4 cameras. Nobody at zmodo seems to care, app hasnt been updated in months. Terrible support, will be the last time buying zmodo and i turn a lot of others away because of it.

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE RESOURCE MANAGEMENT. I've owned zmodo cameras for several years now. When running this app the battery drain on any device is absolutely insane. I've tested this with several tablets and Note 3's and Note 4 Edges. It is a shame the camera system itself works great. As stated I've had this app on different devices over the past few years and I dont believe there has ever been an update. Its as if Zmodo contracted out this app to be developed years ago, it was thrown together full of resource management issues, and they dont care and never tried to have it optimized. Update: My Note 4 just took the android 6 update. Now "Zviewer" instantly crashes when trying to open.

Minor issues sometimes where cameras won't reconnect, but for the most part I can view my cameras on my phone remotely. Sometimes it will lock up my phone but it's worth seeing my cameras when I'm not home. Running on Galaxy S4. Upgraded 2 cameras with a different brand that has more if lights but they are compatible with my Zmodo set up. BTW I am using a wired connection NOT wireless

Pros Loads quickly, can view up to 4 different DVR's at a time (only 4 camera's at a time) , Fairly simple to use. Good color, Close to live only has small delay not real jerky either. DVRs are CHEEP priced seem to work ok BUT not great software on some models. Cons not great on aspect ratio on full screen and a bit pixily , When changing to other cameras sometimes shows last camera you had loaded or will not load next/ new camera. Will not play back recorded video. NO sound. I found no LILIN support on DVR.

The app works well, but it does not retain your device or camera selections, so every time you run it, you have to setup the screen again. It does remember the device details (username, password port etc.) just not your preferences for it. The bottom right hand corner shows the three dots usually associated with a menu, but none appears, on any of the Androids I've tried this on. Maybe that is the menu where you "save"? Also, you press and hold on a "window" to select the cam for it, and on some devices this is not easily interpreted so it jumps back and forth between full screen and window several times before giving the select option.

Works perfectly on my galaxy s4..bought new Note5 and just copied my settings to it..works perfectly. For those who can't connect after being able to initially, Google your ip address...it does change from time to time. .. and make sure it's entered correctly. Knocked off 1 star b/c customer service isn't close to what it once was..

I wish I had spent more money and get a better system. This app constantly crashes.. I can't use it. I tried uninstalled and reinstalled it but no... And when it worked, there is more then a second delay. My other system is made by Qsee and that doesn't have any delay with better frame rate and resolution.

This program is a complete waste of time, i spent several hours testing it on android devices. My firewall i can see traffic, but streaming takes for ever even on faster internet. doesn't always launch. Ease of use is awful, if you are not tech savy stay away from this app.It's funny because i asked zmodo how reliable it was and i guess that is why they never replied back to me.

Actually, its working fine, Zmodo guys need to upgrade the mobile application for zmodo dvrs as i cannot use the mic or speaker function its called (2 way audio). My case is, i have a zmodo dvr and cameras kit and also i already plugged in the mic to the DVR but the problem that i cannot hear whats going on my home even i use internet explorer as it is the only way i can hear the audio but i tried to install too many application on my mobile android/apple but i didn't find anyone that let me to use the audio function. And its too important for me to hear my baby in the home. So, the have to upgrade their software's and mobile apps. Thanks.

To get app working it took me a while but I figured it out, its working now. I was always getting reconnecting message, figured out my port wasnt opened. As previously stated instructions are not that good lots missing, needs to be written in an idiots guide as the things that are missing only an IT or computer network savy person would figure out. Eitherway its working great on 3g (if that) as thats all we get here in Cayman. They need to open a Forum so we can help each other out. I give the app 5 stars but the instructions maybe 2.5 stars. I also give tech support 3. stars as they couldnt get it working either.

No explanation of various failure messages, no solutions, inexplicably incompatible with hardware products sold and advertised as working with this app. Walks a fine line between so many bugs vs deceitfully never worked in the the first place.

Cameras and NVR will not stay connected to wifi. App will not let me view away from home. Taking this crap back to Best Buy asap. I'd rather go thru the trouble of runnin wires.

Zmodo has great customer service. Call them if you are having issues and they will walk you through the set up. The app works fine but I hope they continue to improve it as time goes on. 3 stars for now.

This is the only app that will work on my Phone and Tablet, and like others have mentioned, it rarely works. I've had this working once in the past 2 months. Constantly says reconnecting. All settings are exact and correct. Wish they would fix this or come out with a working app.

I installed a Zmodo system and downloaded this app. It works over a Wifi connection. On a tablet you get a much bigger picture than a phone of course, but I have a Galaxy Note 2 which helps a little. The nice thing is that you can double tap each camera shot and enlarge it to a full screen. It runs Real-time video feeds and you can save screen shots with both time and date stamps! If you have PTZ cams, you can operate them through this app too.... Very nice! Thanks

Allows you to see your cameras live, but that's about it. Does not have the capability to allow you to review recorded video using the app. Not a great app, but it does work. Never updated, so don't think perhaps a future revision will allow recorded video to be looked at. There are DVRs with apps out there that allow for playback though. They just cost a little more.

This app just doesnt work. All settings are correct, occasionally channels will connect but 9.9 times out of 10 it will just stay on "reconnecting" seems like they have put in the effort on the iphone app - which works perfectly on partners phone and ipad - and then just chucked something together for android? Very disappointing, particularly as there are no other app alternatives that im aware of.

It will either keep reconnecting or not connect. Even with 4bars and 4lte present. Upgrade removed channel numbers from bottom channel listing.
