Good but it needs a bit more. I would love to be able to see my stats on the companion app... badges, kits, calories, miles,etc... I use a PC and having to DL the android app to log in to the game and start a ride to see challenge progress is silly. I have to port everything to garmin and Strava to see a survey of my activities... I would very very much like to see more stuff moved on to the companion app. Please.
The app crashes at random when viewing other people's activities. This never used to happen on my phone until after Zwift had released an update (the Zwift phone app has a bug that has not been resolved since that app update). Zwift is aware of this, but has not fixed this bug. The bug has existed since 2020 (if I remember the year correctly?).
While the Companion App is not a necessity to use Zwift, it makes scheduling your events much easier. You can see all upcoming events and choose the ones and the times that you want to join. Start a little early to warm up and you will be prompted to join your selected event and taken right to the starting place. The App is free, so why not use it?
Not useful, buggy if you turn off your screen to save a bit of battery, or you switch apps to check your email and come back, you most likely lost your power data or something else won't be working. If I'm casting my desktop to my tv to train, I would expect a companion app to let me do everything I can do on the desktop, especially since there is a full zwift app for android... Don't waste your time, go with Rouvy.
Great app. My only gripe is that it can be hit or miss whether the app actually connects to the in game experience and having the in-game controls. For example, Zwift is running on a computer and opening the companion app (on starting the ride) does not switch over to in-game controls so you lose the ability to interact with other riders. The only workaround is to find another device (iPad) and open the companion from there.
Great interactive way to either do a bit of fitness or focused training for the more enthusiastic. App continues to improve to enhance the quality of the product. My knee rehab would have been a lot more challenging without zwift.
Fabulous App! Definitely an unfair advantage in your training. Train any time of the day or night, at your own level, loads of group activities, and excellent training programmes. I love the extended fun events like the Tour de Zwift too. Also rides like the Andy Schleck Cappucino Ride are really cool. Love it! (The profile of the rides is a little small to see when you are riding).
The Zwift app normally works very well but it is missing a few "quality of life" features. On the very rare occasion that it disconnects from my devices it can be hard to get them back quickly.
This app has been great! However, lately both my wife and I have noticed that the app will freeze mid ride. We both have Pixel 5 phones. The only way we've found to fix it mid ride is to close the app out and reopen. Sometimes we'll get lucky and click "Home" and navigate back to "Game" and it'll work. Please help fix this issue. We love zwift and the companion app.
I followed all the instructions in the troubleshooting guide for this app and nothing worked when trying to pair this with desktop. Turned off 2.4 GHz connection on the router, made sure I was connected to the same mesh router, turned off mobile data. I think that the structure of how this pair is with desktop is flawed and needs some reworking. Maybe it works better with iOS. I like seeing activities and events though, so two stars.
Good app. Map issues on tablet. It's blank most of the time!! Other that that, use it every ride or run👌🏻 Update from the 2019 review above. Been a few years since I wrote the 1st review. I have been using the app ever since and to this day been awesome 👍🏻
They could definitely add more in terms of features. As a companion app I have no issues joining events, messaging other Zwifters, using power ups and getting a general overview of stats for my ride in progress. It usually takes a minute or so for the "game" section to show up so exercising patience is advised.
Slow to discover the ongoing session. Sometimes just as it discovers it, it starts again from zero, several times. The list of near zwifters is very inconveniently moving up and down all the time, and it is hard to select a particular person to give "Ride on".
Again wear is out with Zwift and Bluetooth issues?? Frustrating to use, you have to keep recentering to see where you are. To give 5 ride ons or very often comes up with option to give one or speak bubble!
Great app, but seems to be missing some functions. Viewing badges, browsing/swapping parts in the garage, updating user profile, etc.
It became stable through the years but still lots missing. No way to see a list of the events you signed up, no form of is search for zwifters making it funny business to try to follow someone with a common name and other little things here and there.
Bluetooth connection to devices drops every 5 min. Perhaps due to the phone/Bluetooth version but it used to work flawlessly.
Often no connection to the app. Have tried all the fixes over and over again It is great when it connects but I would say that is 50% of the time...
Was great. But since last update crashes frequently. And I can no longer give my friends 'ride ons' straight from the notifications on my phone. Have to open the app to do it. Frustrating. Particularly the app crashing when you're in a race.
Most of the time it's reliable, however, at times it can be sketchy. Even when you're still in game it will arbitrarily take you out and the only way you figure it out that you've been taken out of game is when no one is responding to your chat texts (because they can't see them) and your left chatting with yourself. Otherwise, it's a good app and the only one that supports Zwift.
Useful functionality that works most of the time. Sometimes the companion on an android phone does not sync to the activity on an iOS/tvOS device. The game/map display could benefit from showing the road gradient. Other than that it's nice and helpful.
Overall good and does the job, but there are so many things that I would expect the companion app to be able to do, including avatar customisation, changing bikes, some rendering performance improvements would be welcome in the map view (viewing a finished activity), etc...
It does what it does. No frills. Looking at events to join is nice. Wish you could do more, like go to garage or see other past sessions, etc. Basically I want to look at things without having to load main app and start a session.
Solid app. Really enhances the in-Zwift experience by putting lots or controls at your finger tips. Automatically syncs to Zwift (mostly :)) when you log in to Zwift. Very helpful dashboard when doing Zwift activities and workouts.
90% of the time, this app is completely useless. It gets out if sync with the main game and/or freezes completely every few minutes. So the only thing it would potentially do to improve the experience does not work. The companion app actively makes your experience in zwift worse when using it. Please fix this!
