Before the iPad 2, the Playstation 3 and even before the 16 bit micros like the Amiga, there were the 8-bit home micro computers. One of the most popular of these, at least in the U.K., was the Sinclair ZX Spectrum.
Relive the nostalgic, glory days of computing by selecting from thousands of pictures on World of Spectrum website from within the app. Classic games such as Jetpac and Jet Set Willy.
ZX Spectrum Live Wallpaper is a way of re-living the 80's. Sinclair ZX Spectrum loading screens can be shown as if they are loading from tape. Images can be obtained from different sources,

Images can be used as they are (full colour) or "Spectrumized" into 256x192x8 colours. There is also the feature to convert the live camera image into Spectrum style graphics in realtime (better on high end devices).
Select pictures of yourself and see how you would look on a Spectrum! Select existing pictures from the gallery.
Pictures are randomly chosen from list you set up and loaded as if on a real ZX Spectrum. Try watching the live wallpaper without making the noises!

V1.5Implemented previous image scrolling to address the fact that the image doesn't take up the full screen on portrait devices. Note, I have also changed the default image position to the bottom of the screen, this makes the scrolling seem more natural.Also fixed long-standing potential crash (that was showing up on jellybean) where a source GIF wasn't being decoded correctly.

Fab, worst part is I now spend faaar to long watching my home screen! A random r-tape loading error should be thrown in for accuracy though Lol. Great wallpaper

Crashes as soon as I try to open it on Android 10
In MIUI i can't set this wallpaper, app has no shortcut, not shown in live wallpaper menu etc.. please fix it

This wallpaper seems a great idea.....if it worked.I set everything up and within seconds,screen goes blank and I get the " unfortunately the app has stopped working". If this gets sorted,I would give it more stars as it is good( if it worked)
Although my computer as a youngster was an Amstrad 464, my mate had a speccy, and they were both tape loaders, so this is retro gold for me. Don't suppose you have any plans for a 464 version? HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!
At first I thought this might be too distracting or eat too much power but I've quickly grown used to it and to enjoy the occasional grin as a favourite comes up. I use FolderSync and Dropbox to sync the image directory between devices which works well. Like all live wallpapers it will show up in your power usage at first as you play with it but after a few days once you stop fiddling, the power usage is so negligible it doesn't appear in the power charts. The ability to download screens from WoS in the settings page is excellent and I've used the camera to snap a Spectrum-style picture of Pickled Onion Monster Munch to upload somewhere. If you find the settings screen overlays the "Set Wallpaper" button as one person did, simply hit "back" to remove the settings screen and the "Set Wallpaper" button is usable again.
Great live wallpaper, it's a same the loading screen doesn't stretch to the boarder so there is no white spaces.
Very cool wallpaper. Love the built in loading screen downloader! Seems to be quite cpu intensive though.

Been using this for wallpaper for a while now and found it to be great fun. Ideal for anybody who longs for the simpler times of the ZX Spectrum (ok programes didn't always load but it was fun to watch them try). Always been a reliable app for me and the recent fixes that have made the live camera mode more stable are great. Go give it a try!

potentially my favourite wallpaper cos I grew up with the Spectrum. However it crashes trying to load spectrum live cam (Xperia Play)

The 'set as wallpaper' button is overlaid over settings buttons, so you can't commit changes.
For me the app works perfectly. It's awesome and addictive. I only wish I could download spectrumized photos as normal files to use somewhere else. Please make it happen.
