Haunted House Creator

Just in time for Halloween! Turn any space into a Haunted House using Augmented Reality and Apple's new ARKit! Place triggers making creatures jump out, chase, attack, scream, or frighten from a distance. Oh the horror!

Easily add scary Halloween monsters around your home using the Haunted House Creator. Then, give your device to your friend and have them walk through your creation, if they dare **INSERT EVIL LAUGH**.

CREATE

Scare your friends by filling your house with haunted creatures and decorations in Augmented Reality! You control the fear by placing invisible triggers on the ground that trigger creatures when stepped on. Creatures have a variety of behaviors including lurking, chasing, attacking, and popping out for a quick scare. You can place decorations to help set the mood.

PLAY

Your haunted creations are saved on your device and can then be played by others. Watch your friends as that scream with fright as they move through the haunted house you created.

BEHAVIORS

Below are the different behaviors you can assign to a creature:

Chase and Attacks: When it appears, it will chase and then attack the player before disappearing.

Watches then Flees: When it appears, it will slowly move towards the player. Then it will stand and watch. When the player get's too close, it will turn and run.

Appears for 1 second: When a player steps on a trigger with this behavior the creature will appear for a split second.

Stands like a Statue: Here the creature is more like a decoration and just stands there. NOTE: A current limitation is that walls in your home don't hide creatures. So, only use this in a large room.

More behaviors, decorations, and behaviors are coming including the the "Statue Scare" where players think it's a statue until they get too close...

TIPS

You should choose a starting point at one end of your home. Slowly build up the suspense by limiting encounters with creatures at a distance. So, place triggers on the ground that spawn creatures further away. Use the "Watches then Flees" or the "Appears of 1 Second" behaviors. Then, as they progress through your haunted house have interactions get closer until at the end the creatures are attacking and chasing players back through the haunting.

LIMITATIONS

ARKit does not yet detect walls so if you place a creature behind a wall they will still be visible. You can work around this limitation by using triggers to spawn creatures and always place them in line-of-sight with the trigger. Then they won't appear to go through walls.
