Qualia by Sunjack - Quantum LP Album

Qualia by Sunjack - Debut Quantum LP

Similar to a vinyl LP album, a Quantum LP album plays back a collection of songs in a specific track order, by moving a single fader the listener can alter the playback mix in real time.

All stereo recordings made from 1958 to the early 1970’s were mixed with channels hard panned either left, centre or right in the stereo field. Mono recordings of the time were remixed as stereo recordings by using a three way panning switch to assign the channel locations.

Inspired by these original LCR stereo recordings, the Quantum LP
allows real-time exploration of distinct stereo channels that combine together to create a QLP album mix.

Like layers in an onion, a master recording can now be gently peeled apart and explored by moving a single master slider.

Just like their vinyl album forbears, QLP Records are intended to be played back in their entirety as a unified collection of songs. There are two QLP Album modes, Classic and Vintage. Classic features a conventional album that can also be blended with alternate versions. Vintage mode enables the album version to be deconstructed and blended with an acoustic version.

Qualia Quantum LP

This debut QLP Record by Sunjack plays back in Vintage mode.

Featuring vocals by Michael Sunjack, this QLP Album includes cello and steinway piano performances that can be remixed with the acoustic guitar version of every song.

Inspired by the timeless nature of the Australian bush and the journey from childhood to middle age, Qualia is an acoustic collection of life memories - from the loss of a beloved dog to building a mud brick house and gazing at a majestic full moon. The Qualia of a life's solitary moments is simply revealed with a feeling of wonder.

Designed for playback in Headphones or Hi Fi speakers.

The final mix is yours.

What is Qualia?

In philosophy, qualia are what some consider to be individual instances of subjective, conscious experience. The term "qualia" derives from the Latin meaning "of what sort" or "of what kind". Examples of qualia include the pain of a headache, the taste of wine, or the perceived blueness of the sky.

Daniel Dennett an American philosopher and cognitive scientist, regards qualia as "an unfamiliar term for something that could not be more familiar to each of us: the ways things seem to us".

Erwin Schrödinger (1887–1961), the famous Quantum physicist, had this view of Qualia. - "The sensation of color cannot be accounted for by the physicist's objective picture of light-waves. Could the physiologist account for it, if he had fuller knowledge than he has of the processes in the retina and the nervous processes set up by them in the optical nerve bundles and in the brain? I do not think so."
