SäckpipaKeys - Swedish Bagpipes Piano

SäckpipaKeys is an authentic sounding set of D/G Swedish Bagpipes (Säckpipa) in the form of a piano keyboard.

The Säckpipa is a simple mouth blown bagpipe with a single drone and a lovely, haunting sound. Check out the video on the website and you'll see exactly what I mean.

Completely new version 2.0 adds a reverb option for a huge, full sound! (iOS 5.0 or later required for reverb features).

Please see the note below about the use of reverb in headphones on iOS 6 devices.

How to Play:

Touch any key to start the chanter playing. Once started, the chanter plays continuously just like a real Säckpipa.

Play a melody on the chanter by touching the keys.

Touch the drone image to switch the drone on and off. The drone lights up in red when playing.

Stopping the drone also stops the chanter sound.

The volume balance between the drone and chanter may be adjusted on the settings page (touch the 'i' icon at the upper left).

Playing Tip: To make your playing sound more authentic and for repeated notes, quickly slide from an adjacent black key to the note you are playing to simulate a piping "cut" ornament.

You may play along with the music on your iPhone/iPod Touch by starting the music track playing using the iPod app, then launching SäckpipaKeys. Double click the home button to bring up the iPod controls while the app is running.

Audio samples provided by Jonathan Parker from a D/G Säckpipa, made in 1986 by Leif Eriksson.

The instrument images are from an Säckpipa built by Seth Hamon.

Touch the Säckpipa image on the settings page to visit Seth's website at www.swedishbagpipes.com.

Note about the use of headphones on iOS 6 devices:

Unfortunately, because of a bug Apple introduced in iOS 6 to the reverb system in iOS, the reverb is broken in headphones and results in the sound being panned far to the right.

Apple has been made aware of the issue and hopefully will fix the issue in a future iOS 6 update.

For now, please turn the reverb off when using headphones on iOS 6 devices to center the sound.
